They also worked with us when we found that a column was structural and needed to be moved and supplemented to ensure a safe final construction. Our tiny 1950s kitchen was once the worst room in our house, and now it is easily the best. We are very happy we hired Traylor to complete the renovation for us. We removed the wall between the kitchen and the tiny dining room, and Traylor rerouted HVAC, relocated plumbing, updated electrical, and installed cabinets, counters, and new flooring. The transformation has made a huge difference in how we use our home. The quality of the work is solid, especially given the price--which is truly hard to beat. The team was professional, punctual, and respectful throughout the process. They cleaned up daily, which we really appreciated. Renata and Livia were always responsive, and Andre checked in on progress regularly. One of the most impressive parts of the project was how they matched the new kitchen floor to our existing hardwoods. We recently had the pleasure of working with the Traylor team for a major renovation of our home, and I am happy with the results. From start to finish, the entire process was professional and as smooth as it could be for a multi room home renovation. The initial consultation process was especially helpful because they work with a great design team where you can really see how the materials will look together. The duo of Renata and Andre both have great ideas from both a function and design perspective but still try to accommodate the budget. They provide visuals before committing to the project and they were flexible enough to change the layout to our liking several times - we could be pretty honest about what we wanted or not. The outcome was pretty exact to the final renderings. We were given regular updates on the progress, any unexpected issues, and how they were being addressed. Traylor was always upfront about timelines and costs, which helped avoid any unpleasant surprises later on. They document every detail in an organized way so it is never unclear. It was a big project for us so, yes of course, we had add-ons and spent more than expected but that was not their pushing but more our choices. Of note, the project was definitely completed on time but we also had a VERY flexible timeline. Still I got the impression they always push forward to stay on track. The craftsmanship was exactly what we had hoped for and we have already gotten compliments on the transformation of our home. Post-renovation, the customer service has remained excellent. When I had a minor issue with a cabinet handle and drawer, they sent their main point person and construction team again to fix it at no additional cost. We had Traylor work on removing a structural wall and were absolutely thrilled with the experience. Andre (who runs things) was incredibly hands on and interested in our vision. It required a steel beam and removing a lot of masonry from a wall in our kitchen, but each night they cleaned up and we could actually use the kitchen. After receiving 7 different proposals for our house project we decided to go with Traylor. They were licensed, competitively priced and responsive. We absolutely love our new bathroom! Andre, Manny, and their team were incredible. They personally handled our remodel with professionalism, interest, and care. They were knowledgable in a well rounded manner, helped guide us on decisions which were tough to make, and provided options when needed. The daily teams always arrived on time, staged their work in a protected area, and ensured the project stayed isolated so the rest of house was clean. They were very kind and included Andre or Manny on details that were not outlined in the project scope so we could all address the changes or details forgotten (small things like position of the shower heads, location of shower door based on access, even toilet proximity to window!) We felt very involved and impressed by all of the teams. The only thing that we would recommend is to stay on top of changes. While every project will have unknowns and modifications, there needed to be extra reviews on change orders with the back office documentation. Payment and schedules were not communicated in advance, so there were times where payment was made and bills were still coming in, or payment was expected but bills were not sent to both home owners. This was easy to handle for our project size, but might want to be further detailed on larger scopes. All in all, 10 out of 10 and will be hiring these guys again. We had an excellent experience with Traylor Design and Construction for a basement bathroom renovation last month. Andre's attention to detail and pride in the final product really set this company apart from others we have worked with in the past. For example, the tile we had purchased for the shower step didn't quite work or match the color scheme, so Andre went to several stores to pick up a variety of samples that would best fit the space. In another example, the workers had laid a pipe in the ceiling where we planned to have an overhead light. Instead of ignoring it and installing the light off-center, they redid the piping (which I'm sure was frustrating) so that the light would fall directly in the center of the shower. Andre definitely has an eye for design and helped us create an amazing final bathroom without us having to hire a separate designer. He's also just generally a nice guy and his crews were very polite and worked hard. We are very happy with the final product and have since recommended him to two other friends for similar projects. read more

I WOULD NOT WISH THESE PEOPLE UPON MY WORST ENEMY. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE. I hired Andre to build a deck with a rain drainage system to ensure the area under the deck would not get wet. Not only were there constant delays during construction, but when the project was completed, there were scratched Trex deck boards and other minor issues, but the main issue was that the drainage system was a COMPLETE FAILURE. After OVER THREE MONTHS of pestering him, Andre blamed one of his "inexperienced" workers and said he'd honor his guarantee and fix the deck. He came with a worker, lifed the boards, replaced the Rainescape membranes, and I hoped that would be the end of it, but the leaks continued, and only got worse. After that, Andre and his wife Renata completely stopped responding to messages. They are completely unprofessional and clearly INEPT. Great job and super friendly staff. We converted a half bathroom into a full bathroom on the first floor. In order to create a space for the shower we had to reduce the size of the closet adjacent to the bathroom. Andre came to the house for the estimate and throughout the project. The project did take a little longer than planned but worth the wait. The team did a great job and now we have a beautiful bathroom and closet. read more

I used Andre and his crew at Traylor Design for a deck on the back of my DC townhouse. Ultimately, the final product is great. They are a capable crew and were very clean in the house when they traveled through it, and after it was all done they cleaned up very well and left no trace. I did have some trouble with communication. I requested some additional work that I assumed to be quick and easy to do, but when I received the final bill I was charged for those items. Ultimately we came to an agreement and I am happy with the overall price, but I wish I had known at the time of my request that it would cost extra. Andre is a reasonable guy and he and his crew work hard. They will do a great job and what won me over initially was that he took the time to come out and look at the property. Some other quotes I requested never even sent someone out but still gave me pricing, which I think is borderline rude. Overall, they do a great job just make sure you are communicating actively and have any changes to the original scope in writing. read more

Andre and his crew completed a bathroom renovation for me in a hall bath. The work included removing a wall and installing a new double-sink vanity in place of a single vanity. The work itself was very good, although I question the bracing of a roofing truss in my attic, but it appeared to be OK (I'm not an engineer). The guys that did the work were efficient and finished the entire job in less than a week, they had to come back a coupon times to fix minor issues but were very responsive when I noticed the issues and didn't try to take short-cuts. Could probably use a better drywall guy (I know this is a rare skill) and painter (I'm a perfectionist when it comes to paint, and have painted SEVERAL houses/condos that has straighter lines) Only issue I had was that I was charged for a few miscellaneous parts/material at the end that I thought would have been included, specifically shut-off valves for the sinks and a dimmer (noting that I already had a dimmer, but they bought a new one and passed on the charge to me). Had I known, I would have bought these pieces prior to the install myself (which would have saved some money I presume). Another plus: he takes credit card!! I had other contractors that only wanted me to pay in cash, which made me nervous since I'd pay a 50% deposit and feared that they never would complete the work and I'd have no recourse!! Overall, they did a good job and communicated well. I'd definitely use them in the future and plan to if I choose to add a bathroom to my 3rd bedroom! read more

Andre and his team finished roughly 1600sqft of my basment. This included a bathroom with a custom shower, replacement of patio door, a wetbar and a media/exercise room. Everything was done to code and inspected without any issues. The project was much more involved than originally planned, but his crew worked hard and got the majority of the basement framed and finished within a month, with a few detailed items taken care of soon after.
