    Skate Rental and Arcade Games
    Suzy W.

Took two of the kiddos I nanny for (7 & 10) for an afternoon of skating, as we had a Groupon to use. I've never been out in that direction before, but the signage made Traxside easy to find. Traxside is the epitome of a good old family skating rink. The staff was welcoming, and we shared the rink with only a few other people (on a Friday). You're able to rent a "walker" made of PVC pipe for just a few bucks, which rolls with little ones as they push it along to help with balance. I'll admit, I even tried out the one we rented! Lol. Unfortunately, some areas of Traxside could use some improvement. We ran into issues with the lockers not releasing the key and the token/quarter getting stuck. So we paid for a locker that didn't really lock. Beyond that, parts of the rink have some larger chips/divots in the floor that are definitely trip hazards. So be careful! The snack bar offers quite a few options at good prices, but we didn't try out any arcade games - though they look to all be $1/each! I'm sure I'll be back for another round of skating, and will just keep my aforementioned notes in mind!

Excellent newer arcade games with prizes

This is the first one for me. I have been to many roller skating rink and this is the first time I saw which is made of concrete (cement). Other than that, this place is amazingly fun. It is definitely a family entertainment center. Excellent newer arcade with prizes, very good lighting, DJ's and the overall decor is family appropriate. It is definitely worth checking it out.

Great place for a party with cool loud music to skate to, but they REALLY need a separate party room.

They called me a few weeks later to ask if I could switch from 12-4 to 6-9pm. I told them no since it was a child's birthday party. They confirmed 12-4 would still work. We arrived the day of the party and they did not have our reservation. I had to find my receipt to prove my reservation. They ran my credit card for the remaining balance and THEN informed me that it would be an additional $7 for every adult that wanted to enter. This was never told to me until right then and there. Paying for every adult to enter would have cost another $100 or so. This wasn't even for adults to skate- just to accompany their children into the party. Even if they didn't want to skate, it was still $7. We asked for a refund and it was refused. I had to put 1/2 down to reserve my party, but it was never reserved. So I'm not sure what that money was used for since it wasn't to hold a spot. Maybe with all the money they are making they should use some of it to out back into the business. Place looks and smells disgusting. Buyer beware. Read the website. Don't just go off the information you are told when booking the party over the phone.

I wasn't aware of the dress code though. I wore a sleeveless shirt because I knew I was going to get hot. They offered a free tshirt to wear to cover up my shoulders. Wore it for most of the time but it just got too darn hot. They stopped me and told me to put on a shirt or leave. Threatened to call the sheriff's office to force me to leave, but there was really no need because I was too offended at the apparent accusation of dressing like a ho. I was not dressed provocatively... just no sleeves. I left early, with all 4 kids I brought and I'm not coming back until the dress code loosens up a little. It says IN GOD WE TRUST on their sign in front. Based, and I'm Christan too. Jesus told me that showing my shoulders is not inappropriate in a family-friendly setting. They lost my business.

I am updating my previous review. I did enjoy going to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies Roller Rink…read morein the winter when it wasn't crowded. However, I later found the rink to be unsafe, understaffed and poorly managed. On Friday nights it can get crowded. There aren't enough staff or referees to manage the rink floor. People will loiter anywhere on the rink floor blocking the entrance and exit ways. Kids will sit on the floor with their legs sticking out for anyone to trip over. Teenagers loiter all over and mainly in the corning sitting area on the rink floor then all get up at once blocking all oncoming skaters. Kids skate the wrong way on the rink. If there is enough staff they will try to enforce the rules but the kids often ignore them. Or they will follow the direction once then go back to doing what they shouldn't be doing. I've found items on the rink floor that people can trip over such as large screws, candy, jewelry, and plastic containers of mints. The are usually no referees skating around looking out for these hazards. Unlike other rinks I've been to where kids with skate mates or people who would like to practice their tricks are directed to stay in the middle of the rink, there are young skaters at this rink who have no concept of rink etiquette and will speed by doing tricks around the rink not caring who is in the way and knock anyone down. I was knocked down and out one evening and didn't know what hit me. I was skating then the next second I was on my back passed out. Later that evening another person was knocked out and badly injured I'm guessing by the same young skater doing his tricks on the floor with no concern for others. Noticing some of these hazards earlier while skating there I had written to Skate on Grand/Bella's Bouncies with some suggestions before these accidents happened. I hope they will take some action to make this rink a safe and enjoyable place to skate again. It was really nice skating with the kids and families when it wasn't an unruly, madhouse full of middle schoolers who have care or concept of anyone else besides themselves. This rink is on the small side and should have a lower limited capacity instead of just letting as many people in as possible. However, the young people who work there I'm sure don't have any way of knowing or enforcing that.

They even have barstools with the logos and colors of NHL Teams. When you step into the rink itself, it's like a whole different facility. They've done well to maintain the structure, but it doesn't take long to see that the place has been around awhile. The locker rooms are small, but manageable and decently clean. And lets not forget about the spectators. They have heaters placed over the stands to keep warm, as it does tend to get cold. My favorite part about this rink is the unique "shooting corner" as I've always called it. The far corner near the scoreboard (opposite the Zamboni garage) is made available for puck shooting and the like. I've had numerous record games back there while my dad is on the ice for mens league. I am glad this place continues to thrive and provide a place for some good ol' Hockey. I've spent countless hours at both skating, playing and watching hockey games. While the other rink has a bit more nostalgia, I still have fond memories here too. It's not what it once was, but it still gets the job done for the basics of an ice rink. There is plenty of space all around, whether its the lobby, stands or locker rooms. It is sad that the Jerry's Pro Shop is no longer (thanks COVID), as well as the arcade that once existed in the first room to the left when you enter. I cannot speak on any of the specific programs (i.e. Renegades) since its been over a decade since I last played, though I've been few times here and there for public skates. Pricing for that seems reasonable, though I've had my own blades to use. The only negatives I could mention is that the Men's restroom is in a bit of disrepair, and that's why this review is down a star. Otherwise, it's still the same I as I remember. It's also a shame that they don't seem to have tournaments a lot, since they certainly have the space. Happy skating!
