Delavan streets (like any streets and sidewalks) are brutal on the knees and difficult to enjoy when having to keep a watch out for passing traffic. Congdan Park has become a savior to my fitness. The park is mostly comprised of a pond for fishing with a surrounding .9 mile trail. There are gardens with picnic tables and a water fountain on the west side, which is beautiful in the summer. The trail is relatively quiet, so I haven't had trouble taking laps around the pond, and it's really quite lovely to rest up afterwards in the gardens. One drawback is that the park is right next to highway 43, but if you're going to try and make an area more beautiful why green around the pavement? It's a lovely area that wont be lost on its visitors.

Not exactly sure what river it is, Illinois i think? The playground is well maintained, my 10 year old loved it. Not your traditional playground with swings and seesaws, but plenty of stuff to climb. There's also a walking trail along the river but I was sad that I couldn't go because we didn't take the baby stroller! We had our infant in the car seat and she was too heavy to lug that thing around in. Parent fail! Would love to come back and bring my walking shoes to get my steps in!

We haven't even touched a fraction of the trails available to hike down here. This particular location is in the Southern Kettle Moraine forest and takes about an hour or so to get to out of Milwaukee. It is across the street from the famed mountain bike course, John Muir trail system. We were so kindly given some advice and it was wisely heeded. The trails we went on were excellent. Rolling hills and bluffs, some in the woods and some not. Either way we took a 4.5 mile-ish jaunt through the area and were just in awe! It was simply spectacular! Wisconsin in general has some of the best well marked trails one could ask for. We spent most of the time with our dog off leash walking the trail as the place was literally dead! I think that this trail goes slightly unnoticed because of the mountain biking trail next door. This equaled a win win for us! We will be back soon as I want to do the entire 9 mile stretch. Love some Wisconsin hiking! It is the best!

For a community park, this beats every other park I've been to thus far. We frequent this park…read moreoften during the week. Not in the winter, but in the summer we may be here 3 to 4 times a week. Some times we rode our bikes, 5 miles away from our home, to the park traveling on the ice age hiking trail and what a glorious trail that is. Once summer arrives, we eagerly await the opening of the wading pool. The closest thing we have to a beach really. The park is very well kept. The grasses are well maintained and trimmed. Restrooms are clean. There's also the travel center on the grounds, that also acts as the welcome station for Janesville. If you go there and tell them you are newly arrived they will give you a packet which includes several saving coupons that can be used at various stores and eateries. Parking is abundant and can be found at different locations through out the park. There are many picnic tables with fixed grills ready to be used. I bring a grill top just to be safe and clean when using these grills. You can fly kites, have large parties as people often do, and there are even short hikes with trail heads close by. The main attraction is the play ground itself. Designed like a large forest camp with many places to climb, run, explore it truly is heaven for kids as they run around expending energy. There are slides any one can go down. These have rollers so no matter how you are you will go down, and fast too. You really have to watch yourself coming down these type of slides. I have seen many adults land smack flat on their buttock, and I laugh every time watching them remembering my first time too. There's also rings for kids to strengthen their grip and rocking platforms to help control their balance. When the wading pool is open it gets crowded but several life guards are always present to make sure there is no misbehaving by kids as well as adults. The spouting whale slides and umbrella water rain falls are excellent attractions for the kids to take pictures on. The surrounding area also offers kids to begin their exploration of nature. There is lots to see in plants as well as bugs. Many have vibrant colors and are so strange looking that makes them very interesting. We loved coming here. It's a great way to spend family time while your kid unleashes that bottled up energy and get a good work out building his physical abilities with coordination. Many fond memories and pictures are here. Wish there was one close to us now.

I have lived in Williams Bay for about 3 years. In that time I have entered this park 3 to 5 times…read moreper month. I have been here morning, noon and evening; during all seasons. I've been here when people were boating, fishing, and even during ice fishing. I drive in, I go to the parking lot by the building and spend about 10 minutes playing a game on my phone. I have been there alone, with my daughter and with my grandchildren. Until this morning I have never seen a person in the booth at the entrance to the lot. Never. I have never been stopped or approached at any time for any reason. In at least 108 visits I have never been told this is a paying park. This guy today said "this is a paying park, you have to pay to come in here." So where has he been for the last 3 years? After his nastiness, I won't be back of course.

Clearly not going to swim (apparently there is a buggy beach) and were turned away by a rather rude attendant in a golf course who informed us a PARK was for residents only. On our way back to our condo a resident stopped us and asked what the attendant said. We recounted the story and she also thought it was ridiculous. We've come to Delavan for the past three years and have enjoyed our time here. This was certainly a disappointment!!

On a spur of the moment decision, me and my boyfriend decided to go camping over the long 4th of…read moreJuly weekend that we both had. The camping grounds were nearly full, but you are able to reserve camp sites online. There is about 100 camp sites, easy meandering hiking trails, a small lagoon for fishing (restriction in place on the lagoon limiting fishing to those 16 years old or younger), and a very small beach. Pros: - The camp sites are split into a tent camping area and a RV area. Each site is well sized and the majority are made more private by plant growth between the sites. Some of the tent sites are walk-in (maybe 100-200 yards) if you want a more private feel. - Each site has a picnic table and fire pit with grate. - There is ice and wood sales on site. A good size bundle of wood which lasted us two nights costs $6. (Cash only!) - Nice new shower/flush toilet house located centrally in the campgrounds. Cons: - Busy on holiday weekends. (and really, that is our own fault for choosing to go then!) But, if you are interested in visiting on a holiday weekend, be aware that the front area of the park fills up with families having holiday parties. The place was absolutely packed on the 4th. - Poor beach. The very narrow beach runs right up to the road and has no separating guard rail. While the traffic that goes through the area is conscientious of people crossing the street, it still is not the safest beach front. - Hiking trails are very easy. If you are looking for anything a bit more challenging, or with more variety, this is not it. Things to do: - Walk along the lake shore path to downtown for a meal. It is about a two mile walk each way, but it runs through the backyards of the large manors on the lake and is right next to the waterfront, so you have nice views on both sides. To find the path from the park, turn right when you reach the beach and continue to the end. There will be a crosswalk shortly after the beach ends, and there will be a pathway that leads into the trees towards the lake. This path will take you all the way to town. - Of all the trails we went on, I thought the orange trail was the best. It goes through restored tall-grass prairie, and was rather picturesque at the time we went as there were many flowers in bloom. - We did not brave the hordes on the 4th to try and get to the beach to watch the fireworks, but we did go on the 3rd. While there were not quite so many, the beach was nearly empty and we had a great view of a decent show of fireworks mixed with the odd firework thrown up by an individual. Length: - I would recommend no more than a long weekend.

Additionally, there is not as much to do. There are some trails, although they were cutting plants and working on some. The main attraction was the lagoon near the road. The city was working on gates from the lagoon with painted crosswalks. Given the minimal traffic past downtime, walking on the side of the road is safe enough. It connects to the Lake Geneva lake trail that goes through the backyards of nice houses. Calling it a beach state park is a bit of a stretch. Across the road from the entrance lays about 2 feet of sandy beach. The campsite does have RV options.

Spectacular views of manicured landscapes, uplifting beauty of nature doubled with an architectural paradise!! My Husband I were in town for a three day weekend to attend to an Engagement Party. It was our first time visiting in Lake Geneva and besides spending time with family we were looking forward to the highly recommended full lake Boat Tour, which did not disappoint. Our Tour Guide was excellent and his presentation was colorful, informative with the histories of each magnificent mansion, private marinas, and never-the-less we heard about the 22 Miles long Lakeshore Path. We waited until the rain stopped on Sunday Morning and around 9A drove to Williams Bay, our starting point, having made arrangements with our Hotel Concierge to be picked up later at the Riviera Marina. Our walk was amazing as sunshine was breaking through between the trees... took beautiful pictures along the way. We had drinks and some snacks with us and from time to time we took mini breaks just to admire the scenery. It took less than 3 hours to complete the 7.1 Mile path and we were back at the Hotel way before our extended time for check out. We cannot wait for our next visit back when we would like to walk the entire length around the lake!! Yes, all the 22 Miles! We highly recommend to anyone who enjoys walking and wanting a closer look at the Lake & the historic and beautiful mansions along the shore.

This is a great preserve and so necessary to help our local pollinator population and other mammals, invertebrates, reptiles, and birds who call this place home. This preserve is soft-spoken and wonderful. If you need bells and whistles, it may not be the place to check out. (But do so anyways!!!)
