Nothing brings local hockey together like a good barn. What do I mean?…read more The epitome of the hometown version of the best sport in the world is the house its played. This rink has a great fusion of both old and modern aesthetics. The lobby feels new and welcoming , with Komets merch and history, a snazzy snack shop, and entertainment for the kiddos. They even have barstools with the logos and colors of NHL Teams. When you step into the rink itself, it's like a whole different facility. They've done well to maintain the structure, but it doesn't take long to see that the place has been around awhile. The locker rooms are small, but manageable and decently clean. And lets not forget about the spectators. They have heaters placed over the stands to keep warm, as it does tend to get cold. My favorite part about this rink is the unique "shooting corner" as I've always called it. The far corner near the scoreboard (opposite the Zamboni garage) is made available for puck shooting and the like. I've had numerous record games back there while my dad is on the ice for mens league. I am glad this place continues to thrive and provide a place for some good ol' Hockey. The Adult League (KAHC) is well organized and is very competitive. Kenosha Ice, I salute thee!

The bads... There's ceiling heaters on the home side stands, but none for the visitors. That's pretty low-class. Disappointed at the officiating here. Missed calls on both sides... though we were the guests and we tied the game 5-5 after coming from behind. Small lobby, but nice little section in the back with children's books.

Upon approaching the door the area is clean and clear of any hazards. Once you walk into the building you are in an open bright colored room with information posted, and it appears your will need to be buzzed into the next set of doors. Upon entering into the rink area to the right in an area to purchase skates and/or skate accessories and next to that is the concessions. Just a couple of steps from the concessions is the washrooms. Then coming back there are tables and just past those is the right. Dj booth is in the front as well. Going straight through the door there are games and moving past those is the prize area and skate rental area. The beverages are over $3.00 and some change each, but they sell the pitcher for a little over $6.00. They offer pizza and snacks as well. We ordered the nachos and fries. The nachos which were good, but those fries, they were so good. This group rented the whole place to enjoy their birthday and is was very nice. Employees were both very kind and fast. They use great colors, bright. Makes it fun!

It was a decent rural drive, through small towns and blueberry and apple farms, and when we first saw the arena from the outside, it was a mix of awe and curiosity. My son thought it looked shady (in a bad way), nested in the middle of local homes and businesses. I didn't know what to expect, so when I saw this outdoor rink (ODR) had a roof and an attached building, I was optimistic. I thought the kids would have to dress in the trunks of their cars and waddle through snow to get to the rink. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of sophistication. There's a lobby with a heater inside, so I watched the game from there at first. Many of the parents did, given that it was about 7 degrees F, with 30mph winds. Later in the 1st period I noticed there were parents in the outdoor stands. I found out that there were overhead heaters there and it provided just enough warmth to keep me comfortable. I had to stand though, sitting in the stands you couldn't feel it as much. My son also told me the locker rooms were equipped with heaters, so at least for a little while, before warming up, the boys could get a little relief from the cold. Overall, I like the rink. It feels warm, nestled in the neighborhood and it offers regular public skating in addition to the games. It was a nice change from the standard barns we've been to in the Midwest. I highly recommend you take a visit!
