I love this club so much!…read more I don't live in the Chicago area anymore, but have travelled here the last two years for their women's bonspiel, and am blown away by how amazing this club is! The members I've met are so kind and hospitable. They feed us well (during bonspiels), the bar staff is great, and the ice is top notch! My husband played in one of the open bonspiels last year and had a great time as well. As someone who plays on arena ice I am so envious of what a great facility they have. The viewing area accommodates a lot of people, the tables are spaced out enough that it doesn't feel too cramped, there always seems to be napping happening over by the fireplace, and the little museum room has a lot of fun history of curling. Wonderful club, wonderful people, wonderful ice! I love this club!!

Okay, let's talk seriously. Curling is a sport that most people watch every 4 years, during the…read moreOlympics. And this last time (2018), was a banner year, with the US Men's Team winning gold for the first time ever. Woo hoo! But curling has been a great sport for a long, long time. And the Chicago Curling Club has been a big part of that here in the mid-west for like 150 years or so. Let's talk about why. Well, first, the CCC is a great group of folks. The mid-west is renowned for being friendly and polite, right? Well, the folks at the CCC are that times 2. Super friendly and ready, willing and able to not only teach you about the sport of curling, but just as happy to talk about whatever else is on your mind, all while buying you a beer. Seriously, I have yet to find a nicer bunch of folks anywhere in the country. Then, there is curling itself. Yeah, there are some competitive folks (hell, you can;t go to the olympics, much less win, without being competitive, right?). But there are a TON of leagues at the club that are purely for fun. Rookies, pick-up and other leagues that even the newest of newbies can join and have fun at. Add to all of that the social aspect. Multiple FREE events throughout the year, just for socializing and community. This is the kind of place that literally anyone can feel at home. Finally there is the sport of curling itself. Look, I like to veg out as much as the next guy. But this is damn near the only sport I could play, for fun or competitively, where I can literally have a beer while I play. Bad knees? No problem. Need hyper cardio? Got ya covered. Just want to play for fun and socialize? Check. Want to belong to a group that has fun and contributes to the community? You could do way worse! The CCC is a great group of folks, with a great facility, and perpetuating a great sport, all while contributing to the community at large. Swing by, have a beer, and learn to curl. I guarantee you'll have a great time, and you just might change your life.

This is a nice barn with an ODR (outdoor rink). Nuff said…read more The locker rooms are nice for a barn and the bathrooms are clean. Based on what we saw, the programs here are well managed and the ice is well maintained (though a little rough in patches). There is plenty of parking if you're visiting. The only complaint is that the "so-called" visitor seating is very small and as a visiting parent I was shocked to be asked to move to the "right" section. Of course I didn't, because I was comfortable at center ice so I could see my son play at both ends. Aside from the unfriendly welcome from the opposing team, I think this is a great place to enroll your kids or come in for an open skate!

My issues with this spot is how expensive the residential season pass is for the lack of quality…read more It's $100/$125..... Admission fee is $6. Oakton offers the same admission fee only their Resident/Non-resident prices are $65/$75 (significantly cheaper). Quality of the ice. The rink isn't even smooth. Never once have I been here and the ice was smooth. Huge gashes in the ice which cause the less experienced skaters to fall more frequently. It's very dangerous actually. I DO NOT recommend this rink if you're a new skater or would like to teach your young ones how to skate. A better option that is the same price, better quality ice and a much safer experience would be Oakton Ice in Park Ridge. It's worth the extra mile honestly.
