I chose this location because I was attending a friend's wedding at the Assembly Halls, and we wanted to have ultimate convenience.
The best thing about this hotel is the location - true to its name, it's centrally located in downtown Bath and easily walking distance to key tourist spots- 2 minutes to the Assembly Rooms, 7 minutes to the Roman baths, etc. I was disappointed that they didn't have their own parking, because we ended up adding about £20 to the already kind of steep fee for parking, but I guess that's to be expected.
Speaking of the price, it was the cheapest option, however at £110 (188USD) the hotel was more like a glorified hostel than a hotel. The room itself had everything we needed - a comfortable bed, a toilet, and a shower. It seems a TV, towels and one small bottle of hand soap/bathgel/shampoo combo (yes that's right) were what separated it from a hostel.
The room itself was clean and neat, aside from a few of the tiles missing in the bathroom. It seems it was mostly updated since some of the older reviews on here, because the interior was simple and chic. The hot water seemed to mix with the cold so the shower went back and forth a couple of times.
The website even warns of the noisy nightclub below but we were placed in a room away from the street so we didn't hear any nightclub noise. There was, however, a LOT of noise from neighboring rooms (the one above sounded like they were moving furniture, etc) and the hallways of noisy tenants. Other than that, the sleep was comfortable.
The staff are never at the front window when you arrive (giving it that hostel feel, again) but they do always come quickly when called, and they were always helpful and kind to us. (When checking in, the woman who helped us recommended great spots for breakfast, and the guy who checked us out did genuinely apologize for the noise.)
Overall, the room did get the job done for the one night we stayed in Bath. The ONLY reason it should cost this much is its location but I would recommend it for a quick and semi-affordable getaway in Bath. read more
