Dated Hotel but Affordable and Clean…read more I stayed in this Marriot property during a visit to the Middletown area. The hotel is somewhat dated and could use a facelift but is very clean, well-staffed and close to highways and local amenities. My room for one night was a standard king room with a divider between the living room and the bed. The room and bathroom were as clean as they could get and the wifi was easy to connect to. The heating and AC unit functioned as it should and I had no issues increasing or decreasing the temperature in the room. My bed was comfortable and I had a good night's sleep. Breakfast was the standard fare of this hotel level with hot and cold offerings as well as pastries, breads and cereals. The staff were great and the check-in and check-out process were accomplished through the BonVoy app.

So let's address the sewage smell when you walk in the room first. That was enough. Then let's…read moreaddress the property "while undergoing renovation" should be closed completely. Marriott is our choice hotel and we have stayed everywhere on the east coast in them. Customer Service by the morning staff is outstanding along with Jessikah. But Jeni needs a new job. Customer service was abhorrent at best. As extremely loyal Marriottist's we have never been talked to that way. Toilet seat didn't fit the toilet. Don't feel safe here because all the doors are left unlocked. Landscaping is a jungle. Toilet has been sitting in the smoking area for 6 days. There are holes in the shade. This is unacceptable for Marriott. And especially $120 a night. Stay somewhere else folks. I rated it a one because it won't let me leave zero.

I've been a Hilton Diamond for the past 10 years or so until this year in which I'm only gold…read morebecause my company has changed to IHG chain hotels. That said, I have a different perspective on Hilton chain hotels now after staying 100 nights in another chain the last year. For starters, the breakfast at Hampton Inns anymore is just not up to par with some other chain in the same price and amenities category. The scrambled eggs don't appear to be real eggs but rather yellow cubes that just don't resemble eggs anymore. The southwestern omelette is nothing but heartburn and a nightmare for anyone over 60 to eat. The bacon wasn't like normal bacon either and that was only 1 day for the week and every other day was sausage of some type. I think I've made my point but if you want to test it, just go to the Radisson or IHG chain and compare. The room was good. Bed was comfy, sheets fresh and plenty of towels. The room was also clean and updated and had a fridge and microwave along with a kurig. I didn't visit the pool or gym but they looked adequate and well maintained. Overall, it's a nicely kept hotel with an adequate breakfast and I'd stay again. Enjoy!

I looked online on 7/11 to make a reservation at this location for the next night (Friday 7/12). It…read moreonly showed 2 rooms available - one hearing impaired room and one king studio. I called the hotel to ask if I could book the hearing impaired room (less expensive option for the 6 hour stay I was planning to be there). The front desk said the only room available was the king suite even though the hearing impaired room was showing available. She said if I booked the hearing impaired room, that I would not have an available room when I arrived the next night. I went ahead and booked the king suite I just needed a room for the night in this location. Upon arrival at 8:45, the hotel parking lot was not full. I checked in and went to my room. I got online with Hampton to see if rooms were available to book. At that time, several room options WERE available. One room was $100 less than the king suite I did not need. I travel for business and stay in hotels almost weekly. This is shameful business and I will not be booking with Hampton again.

Ok, I have been brand loyal to Hilton for over 25 years and have stayed at many Doubletree hotels…read moreduring that time. But, this property in my opinion should not be in the Hilton family. I stayed here 10 years ago and the property at that time was very nice. Now this property is no where near its previous self. The outside is barely what I would call standard for Hilton as there are weeds everywhere and shrubs & bushes that need to be trimmed or removed. When I checked in I was given 3 keys (myself, wife & mother-in-law) plus keyless via my phone to my room and none of them worked. Went down to counter and advised of issue and they reissued 3 keys which also didn't work. Went back down again and the person came up to the room to check out and advised maintenance would come up to fix. After about an hour no maintenance person! So, again went down to the counter and the girl gave me another key and advised it was a master key and shouldn't have an issue going forward. Seems like a potential safety issue. Good thing I'm honest! The rooms themselves were ok as they were clean with clean towels, bedding etc. The TV's were a bit of a challenge but got through that issue by myself. My wife & I went to the bar and the person attending was very nice but knew nothing about adult beverage's nor anything about being a barkeep. He also was a person who at times was covering the front counter for those who were checking in. Wow, talk about pulling double duty! From what I gathered during our two day stay, the owners were on vacation and left the hotel to what I'm guessing were 5 staff to run this facility in their absence. I will not be staying at this property again, especially if current ownership doesn't change their business practices. In closing, the staff was friendly and did try to do their best but the owners set them up for failure which lends to the 2 star review which is being generous.

I ordered a beer from the menu; not available. I ordered a different beer; not available. I asked if they had anything hoppy ... and she was clueless. To end her grief, I ordered, "any cold beer." I ordered a second beer, she delivered it promptly, but never took my empty glass. A second customer arrived and tried to order food - not available. He tried another item - not available. I finished my second beer and departed. She never cleared anything from bar. Breakfast offering ... pathetic. This was at 7:15 AM. They had not been mobbed earlier. The only silverware available was metal knives and one lonely plastic spoon. When I inquired about forks and spoon, I was told it was on the tables - nope. Not a single table had silverware or napkins. The Corn Flakes were actually Frosted Flakes. Dry cereal, but no milk? I asked; none available. The two cups of yogurt? Expired. Bread choice? Seven, count'm seven, slices of white bread. Only one of the electrical outlets by the bed worked. I needed to charge two devices. Grrrr.
