(Read my update below) Excellent trattoria we found on our last night in Napoli. Wonderful atmosphere, full of families of all ages enjoying good food. Service, especially our waiter, was superb. Quick, friendly, patient with our Italian, we all had fun.
Good assortment of antipasti at the buffet. Light, fresh, and varied from scapace items to baked tarts.
We all had specials for the evening. Particularly good was the pappardelle with shrimp and arugula. Beautifully sauced, nearly flawless in it's simplicity and balanced yet intense flavor.
Great location, subway and funicular nearby and some good gelaterie across the piazza.
The front dining room is quieter, but the back room is where everyone was having fun. Definitely worth another visit.
July 2016---update....it pains me to write this, but I went back on a weekend in Napoli. Very disappointed....the food and service were indifferent. It's pretty bad when the best thing about the meal was the wine. The waiter was abrupt and dismissive (granted I was tired and my Italian had a few mistakes, but still.....), the paccheri way below average (I can make a better one at home in Seattle), the salad one of the worst I've had in Italy in years. The menu has changed also....they're leaning more to pizzas and tourist fare. Trying to be healthy for a meal, I wanted anything but a pizza, should've ordered the antipasti buffet and kept it at that. I'm removing several stars. Actually, I should have just walked back out the door when I saw the menu. I have a feeling the ownership has changed. Something is different here. read more
