I live in the Northeast of the United States where exceptional Italian food is ubiquitous. I don't ever walk into an Italian restaurant outside of the Northeast with expectations. Well, Trattoria La Caverna has changed how I will look at Italian restaurants forevermore. From the minute you walk in until you leave, you are treated like family. Each course that came out was delivered and executed perfectly. The olive oils, the sauces, the wines, and the pastas were all perfectly chosen and perfectly cooked. Fun, cozy spot with great service! This place has such an easy-going, welcoming vibe. The service was great--everyone was super friendly and attentive. I ordered the lasagna (definitely on the cheesy side, but still tasty!), and while I can't remember what my husband ordered, we both enjoyed our meals overall. We came in late one night as a party of three and were pleasantly surprised! From the exterior, I wasn't sure what to expect (I'm pretty sure this spot was a skating rink when I was growing up)! Two adults and a kid - we were immediately seated. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and had some great drink recommendations. I went with their take on a gimlet with lavender and it was very well balanced. My sister got some sort of old fashioned and enjoyed it as well! We started with the fried ravioli (good, but nothing incredible) and bread service (meh). I was nervous at this point but I shouldn't have been! Our salads came next and they were incredibly fresh and flavorful, as well as a large portion! I got their cavatappi in cream sauce and my sister went with the pork. Ah-mazing is an under statement. We ordered the Arancini to start. Solid! For dinner we had the spaghetti bolognese and the pork loin entrée. The pork loin was served with risotto and some of the best Brussels spouts! Unfortunately, they are waiting for their liquor license renewal so no vino with the meal. TLDR; Bland I have been dying for Thai food but too lazy to head into Nashville. I saw in the reviews that ordering extra sauce seemed to be a trend; they even have an option on the menu and charge for it... I have never seen anything like that before. Well, now I know why. The food is bland. I ordered Pad See Ew and the box says Pad Kee Mao (drunken noodles). The contents look like Pad See Ew but maybe they messed up the sauce? It was under seasoned and just had this weird tang to it. No traditional sweet/roasty soy flavor at all. There was also baby corn in it...I don't know. I just have to say that it was confusing and not very good. Final mail in the coffin? They don't have any of the traditional spicy Thai condiments.... We sat down for 20 min and didn't even get water, so we walked out. This time, we stayed... service was bad, the server (only one) had her long hair down and was flipping her hair over the food as serving it. We ordered the bread loaf and it was literally two pieces of ciabatta bread (the same ciabatta we bought at Costco two days before). My husband got the pesto pasta and it literally had zero flavor. I got the pork loin, it was ok.. the best of all the meals. My daughter got the spaghetti Alfredo with a side of chicken. It was flavorless and the chicken was questionable if it was cooked! You must pay for bread. The small bread serving will give you one very small piece of bread. The side salad is a spring mix or Caesar but again very small portion. I got the chicken Parmesan, which is good but very small portion. My wife got spaghetti. I thought everything was extremely expensive. A small serving of bread is $4. Chicken Parmesan was $18. The pho broth here rivals that of any of the known Vietnamese staples on the west side & was delicious. The pad Thai is good but has more of a tomato base that you may not be expecting if you are used to traditional pad Thai. Still good though. I went to Trattoria La Caverna with friends a while back, and I was not impressed due to several problems. I finally decided to give the restaurant a second chance. I called Trattoria on Oct. 30 to make a reservation for the following evening, Oct. 31 at 5 pm. We had tickets for a play at 7:30 that evening in downtown Nashville, so we needed an early dinner. We arrived right at 5:00 for our reservation. The parking lot was empty, the restaurant was dark, and the doors were locked. I carried out my order on Tuesday. 2 beef pho's and a Bulgogi. They said to be there in 25 minutes and I was... but my food wasn't ready so I had to wait another 15. It happens, I get it. Steamed Dumplings: soggy, stuck together and tasteless. Beef Pho: I'm used to raw thin slices of beef that cook when I put them in the soup. This soup came with fully cooked strips of beef. The broth didn't have much flavor. The amount of noodle provided was minimal. Bulgogi: The same strips of meat used in the Pho seem to have made their way into the Bulgogi dish. The meat was drowned in a sauce that doesn't taste like any Bulgogi I have ever tasted. The sauce was salty and spicy instead of sweet. The amount of beef was pretty minimal. I used to love this spot and devour their pad Thai, but they have since revamped the menu to being pan-Asian instead of more Thai based. It doesn't look like I'll be dining here anymore. read more

The food was great! We had the onion jam bruschetta which had burrata, onion jam, hot honey, roasted peppers, and blue cheese crumble. It was a perfect bite. For the main entrees we had the cavatappi Cassie with steak-wow perfectly cooked steak with an awesome char and the mushroom pappardelle special-absolutely incredible with the light garlic white wine sauce, assortment of roasted mushrooms, and pickled onions and pistachio toppings. INCREDIBLE. The dessert we picked was the tiramisu cheesecake, this was the only thing we weren't crazy about. It was dense and a little lacking in flavor of both cheesecake and tiramisu. I love that they have the menu posted so I could make sure there was something on the menu for everyone. Drink: fantastic Prosecco and good wine selection. Would have like to see a bourbon or liquor list as well since some servers are young and unfamiliar. Food: Fried ravioli was good but overpriced for portion size. OK.. Ok.. Ok.. Where do I begin? I recently talked to my friend Ashley about food and we both love Thai/Laotian food. Which got me to thinking, as a Yelp reviewer, I'm severely hindering my ability to write reviews because I keep going to the same places. I've got to branch out. I've already been to Eating Thai this week and unless I change, there's no new content to write about. A quick Google Maps search landed me at Blossom, which I never knew existed. It was the next closest Thai/Laotian restaurant in Hendersonville. So before I get to the review, I just want to say "HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS PLACE EXISTED?" So Blossom is a Thai-Lao restaurant that also has a pretty sweet bar area called Cellar Door. It's the same restaurant though, so you can order from the same menus regardless of where you sit. The menu is pretty extensive with lots of options to choose from. As far as the restaurant itself, it's actually pretty nice on the inside compared to other Asian restaurants. What I'm saying is that it's not as tacky and it actually has some nice interior decoration going on. Simply put, it's Americanized but I guess you have to be if you're advertising a craft beer cavern. You want to attract other clientele. I was feeling ambitious and decided to order an appetizer and two "bowls". Well, I almost bit off more than I could chew but I demolished the entire meal. I started off with the Fresh Rolls as an appetizer. There's 4 pieces (cut from 2 rolls of a salad of lettuce, cucumbers, mint, celery, carrots, glass noodles wrapped in a rice paper wrapper. You can add shrimp, which I should have done but I didn't. It's served with a side of peanut sauce, which has to be one of the best peanut sauces I've had. The rolls were refreshing and light, with a nice snap of crunch from the assortment of vegetables. The peanut sauce was SMOOTH, creamy, subtly sweet. It was so good, I started scooping it out with a spoon long after the rolls were gone. I told you I was ambitious and I was very close to ordering an actual entrée of Larb, but my waitress changed my mind. I settled on Beef & Meatball Pho and Chicken Green Curry. I usually get Red but I've never had Green, so I went for something new. She said it was a lot of food, but I thought to myself, can't be that much because I've been to Thai places and the portions were small. Well I was sorely mistaken. I actually guffawed when I saw her bring out the two bowls. I'm used to tiny kid cereal bowls of curry when I've ordered it in the past. No... You could probably use this thing as a hat (or bowl cut). The Green Curry was served with a small mound of rice. Nice chunks of red and green bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, bamboo shoots, & Thai basil. The broth was sweet, floral, nutty, & creamy. That's why I like Thai curries so much compared to Japanese and Indian curries. Coconut milk is just dang good. The whole entrée not too heavy and fresh. The star of my excursion was the Pho. I love Pho and this Pho is one of the best I've had, period. I believe the owners of Blossom are 2 immigrant ladies and if there's any example of "mom's cooking" in Thai/Laos form, this is it. The Pho was almost too pretty to eat. Vibrant colors of deep reds, lush greens, cool purples, and a range of earthen tones, it looked like a painting. The menu says the broth base is "unicorn bone", which may be some Thai code word for something but whatever it is, give me more. Please. The kitchen sink is thrown into this Pho, ranging from a secret blend of spices/seasonings, Thai basil, red onions, cilantro, jalapeno slices, bean sprouts, tomatoes, chewy wide rice noodles, and tender slices of beef and chunks of meatballs. Everything goes together so well. The menu says it's a "sensory party that feeds the soul". Ain't that the truth. Crunchy, chewy, spicy, savory, tangy. You get it all. If you're a man or woman who appreciates Pho, don't skip out on the broth. I know Asian restaurants give you one of those Asian spoons, but who cares. Take that bowl and slam it down. This Pho is epic. I'm sorry Eating Thai, but you've been dethroned. I mean Eating Thai is good, but it's a hole-in-the-wall. It's where I go for quick to-go meals. But if I'm going to sit down and enjoy some food, Blossom is my new go-to spot. I will say it is kind of pricey *BUT*, the portions are huge. So I think the price is right for what you get comparatively speaking. read more

Was super excited to try this place based on their menu. I ordered Bimibap which is described on the menu as a 'Korean rice bowl w/veggies and a fried egg'. They did not include any rice or the fried egg. They also charge an extra 5% for to go orders (which is kind of the normal after COVID) but then also ask for a tip so we ended up spending an extra $10 for a relatively small to go order. Based on our experience, I would not go back. If you're looking for super good (and way more affordable Korean) I'd go to Babo in East Nashville! read more

Between the four closest asian places i frequent in the area, this is the lowest one. Sorry I liked the food alright, ,but could be better! The location is hard to find to begin! Then the sitting is a bit unconfortable. I have not tried to order out, I would probably like better. We had heard wonderful things, so we went on Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. The food was good and our waiter was pleasant, but we were underwhelmed. We were sat in the room by the front windows which was freezing. My husband kept his jacket on the entire meal. Other tables also noted they were quite cold too. The menu was much smaller than I anticipated and really very basic items. If I want lasagna or spaghetti and meatballs I can go to Olive Garden and get much larger portions. We opted for the cavatappi which our server said was like a lighter version of Alfredo. It was more like lots of olive oil, garlic and maybe a teensy bit of cream and Parmesan. We started with the bruschetta which was 3 teensy pieces which seems like an odd number for an appetizer which is meant to be shared. For a drink, I got the pear martini, it did taste good, but it was filled COMPLETELY to the brim making it impossible for me to drink the first couple sips without spilling it. Maybe try a larger glass? We ended spending $99 before tip for 2 people and it definitely didn't feel like a $99 meal. I have had VERY similar Italian foods with much larger portions and they don't charge you for bread (I am pretty sure this is the only Italian restaurant I have been to in my life that a bread basket isn't included). read more
