Great customer service! We have a need for gluten free food and their menu is very clear on how to order gluten free items as well as server's knowledge. Came here for happy hour after doing Xmas shopping & was seated right away. The AYCE bar was busy as always so we didn't take advantage this time around. But the roll & apps came out & we were able to watch the game while dining in. Server & hostess were very helpful & attentive. read more

I am not really a sushi lover but what my daughter wants, she usually gets. Our server was such a nice guy and we went at a not so busy time. I got the crab bites and a trump roll. I instantly regretted getting the crab bites. They were just not my cup of tea. The trump roll however is a completely different story. It was delicious. It was a good sized roll. It had cream cheese, crunchy tempura, thin slices of salmon, maybe shrimp and was topped with teriyaki sauce and a creamy sweet sauce that I dont know what it was called but it was so good! We were REALLY craving sushi and we decided to go here for the first time... honestly pretty good! I heard not so good reviews of this place, but needed to try it for myself. The rolls tasted fresh (compared to other places) and this is the types of rolls I expect. Next time I come here I do want to do the AYCE, we didn't do that this time because I wanted the Mt. Rainer roll and it wasn't on the AYCE menu. Below I'll rate the rolls and shrooman we got. Shrooman: 5/5 bomb af. Something about having spicy tuna in a portobello mushroom. It was so good, it'll be my go to appetizer. It was creamy, juicy and the sauce on top made it perfection. Mt Rainer roll: 5/5 so good! I loved it so much. It was my favorite roll of the night. From the scallops on the top to the good amount of protein to rice ratio. Bonney lake roll: 4/5 this one was okay. I didn't care for the sriracha drizzle on top. I do love the amount of spicy crab, although I think this toll was a little too thick. Samantha roll: 3/5 This one was my least favorite and sadly the most expensive roll they have. I love lobster usually but it just tasted so artificial to me, like at the point they should've used the imitation crab. Not much filling but a whole bunch of burnt 'lobster' meat. The lobster could be a little creamier as well, it just seems so crumbly and dry. Sad because it was like $23 for it, when the cheaper ones were far better. Service: it was good. Probably one of the worst sushi experiences ever. We did the all you can eat and sat the bar. The chef was making our sushi in a timely manner. Towards the end of the meal, the sushi chef told us if we can leave him a tip. We left him cash tip and thought everyone split tips after. We did not leave a tip in the machine when we paid. The white man waiter came up to us and asked what was wrong with his service? and why we didn't tip? He explained that the tips in the machine vs at the sushi bar are different. We had to call him over to take our drink order and bring sauces. And tipping is based on service and is optional. We left with a weird feeling after never have i ever been asked that at any restaurant. they were over charging anyways. read more

Trappers in Federal Way is a solid all-you-can-eat sushi spot, and it's part of a big local chain in Washington. The place is clean, bright, and has a sushi bar where you can watch the chefs work, which is pretty cool. The menu's pretty big, though a lot of the rolls are similar, but lunch still has a good variety if you're okay with a bit of repetition. As you know AYCE sushi isn't going to blow your mind lol you'll have a decent meal here though. The chef was friendly, and service was fast--our food came out quick. If you like creamy rolls, you'll love it here--they have a ton with cream cheese. One thing I liked was the crystal shrimp, which is like a lighter, crunchier shrimp tempura. The fish was fresh, no weird smells or colors. Compared to Sumo AYCE, Trappers feels less crowded, faster, and the fish quality is a bit better. Each Trapper's location menu and interior decor is pretty much the same, however, the service here at the Federal Way location was great. Our waitress was fast and friendly. We ordered the shishito peppers for an appetizer, and loved them so much we ordered a second round of them with our sushi rolls. We usually go for the all you can eat sushi, but this time went for a few rolls. Always great quality and tastes delicious. read more

Really clean, nice ambiance, and ayce. We did the ayce and they have a kids menu for it as well. I ordered the specialty rolls and chef Will went out of his way. He was super fast, made everything delicious. Felt like I was doing omakase with him due to his decisions and feedback. Love that they have delicious appetizers included in the buffet. We almost didn't stop. Our experience at a different location had left a bad taste in our mouth, literally. Right off the bat our server was amazing! Fun, informative and patient with this old picky sushi eater. The sashimi was fresh, cut well and melt in your mouth delicious. The soft shell crab blew us away; good size pieces, perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. Our old favorite, the salmon skin handroll was great. It still had some salmon on the skin, great sauce ratio and fresh cucumber. Yum! I do have a question, when did handrolls change from a cone to small roll? Our booth was comfy in the bar. My bf suggested we come here for dinner and I didn't mind cus I didn't wanna pick a place. I let him order all the rolls and food too. My brain was completely check out haha. I did order calamari which I enjoyed. He ordered like 4 rolls and I'm sure he could have easily put those away on his own but he force me to have some. They were pretty good, I wish I remembered the names because there was one I reached for more than the other 3 . I think the last time I had trappers was 3 years ago and the other location I ordered from was very below par so my expectation wasn't high. Service was great, our server was very attentive and nice. She did end up closing us out before her shift but we didn't mind as we had plans somewhere else we needed to get too. read more

My experience at Trapper Sushi was extremely disappointing. I came in to pick up an order, and not a single person greeted me. I stood there for 5-10 minutes while multiple staff members walked by without saying a word or offering any help. Eventually, one lady finally said something--but instead of a greeting or an apology, she just asked bluntly, "What are you waiting for?" It felt dismissive and rude. She went to check on my order and never came back. Then a second staff member showed up. I asked her to check on the order, which she did, but she came back five minutes later and said, "The chef said two minutes," with no explanation or update. I kept waiting another 10-15 minutes, still without any communication. Then a third lady came out. I asked again what was going on, and she admitted she didn't know. She left to check, and five minutes later the second lady returned, asking me what happened to my order--as if they had no system or idea what they were doing. The lack of communication and customer care was unbelievable. No one acknowledged me, no one apologized, and no one followed through. I left feeling ignored, frustrated, and honestly disrespected. This is not how you treat customers. I won't be coming back, and I suggest others take their business elsewhere. read more

Trapper's is not family friendly. They offer only the all you can eat option at the bar, even with a baby in tow. They won't let you be seated at a table with a high chair if you want the all you can eat menu. If you do want a high chair they stack 4-5 high chairs together to have the baby sit at the bar...how unsafe is that. Food was ok. If it's only adults I can recommend the place but not to a family who want to enjoy an all you can eat options. read more

Let me say this. I'm usually here at the Fed.Way location. Service with the waitress is always nice, and would kindly suggest things. But today in the evening. We had one that gave us a bad vibe. She seem to rushed us on ordering our food, didn't explain how the happy hours works.. didn't bother to ask for my partner if he needed refills during while we were eating, until we were done. Oh did I mention before we put in our orders and deciding. She was not very patience at all. I notice her eyes rolling, eyes rolling up, her tapping her foot and body shift movements. While my partner was using the restroom. She finally came by and ask if I needed a refill (which it was his drink), I replied I'm not sure if he does. Ask if we are done or need to order more. Told her, I'm going to wait for him to get back, he might/not. She just turn away and left. In the end.. she was in a rush to get us out. We are loyal and longtime customers of Trappers. We have always loved the sushi rolls and have never had a problem with picking our order up and bringing it home until today. The sushi rolls did not come in normal sushi roll containers they were cut in half and placed in small black square containers. The presentation was very unacceptable. It looked like it was just thrown into the boxes and put into a bag to hand to us. We're not sure if we will return to that location. Skimpy portions. They used to REALLY skimp on the wasabi and ginger, now they give a more appropriate amount but are also using now, way too small of containers. You used to use large boxes for each roll and that left room to get them out without having to mess up the other pieces of the roll - but now the packaging is so small its a challenge to get them out without messing up a piece near it. Likely the last time we will order trappers this has been an ongoing issue that seems to get worse. There are much better sushi options read more

My favorite Trapper's location. Servers are more attentive and friendly here compared to other locations. Food didn't come out significantly fast, but I did appreciate that servers will tell you if they're backed up and give you updates throughout your dining experience. I never liked Trapper's quality before coming here I'm not going to lie. Trappers would always be just something I chose if I couldn't think of something else. This location is clean and spacious and I would actually look forward to dining here again! I would definitely recommend anything with scallops. We had a great time with my daughter and my brother today. The team were super and everyone else around was super friendly. I love their energy and the food was ONO (means super good and delish) . The main chef was super friendly too and we met his family during the time of our visit and that was a treat to us. We loved their recommendations and the special sauce that I forgot to ask the name. My ultimate favoring is the one with the salmon topping with garlic sauce on top and creams cheese inside. It may be the trump roll. I keep giving locations in Washington state multiple chances to make good food and provide good service. Each and every I've been disappointed today I went to pick up a catering order that was supposed to be ready at 12:30 and of course it's not ready and they said it will be ready at one. This has happened to me before and I've also had some of the from the Tacoma store that I can ever describe the late order. was from Federal Way. I spoke to the manager and he said there were two times on the pick up, but I'm looking right at the order with the order my order says time 1230. I think it's about time I give up on these guys. I hate to do that because we've been going to trappers in Bonney Lake since it opened and it was good at that point but now I think there's just too many stores and they can't keep up with quality or service. read more
