My new favorite sushi restaurant in the area! Great service, nice ambiance! We will be back.

We were captured and held as hungry diners. No escaping. Chain-link fence refused to release us.

Upon entering the restaurant we were captured by Sun-hee (Sunny), who was frantically running around to serve customers as she was the only wait staff. There were about a dozen patrons in the restaurant at the time (5:00PM), with one table having 8-10 people. Big welcoming smile and greeting. Inquired if we wanted a table or a booth, to which we took a booth. As can be seen by the fencing in the center photo, we were a captured audience. No sooner had we sat down, Sun-hee was there with a bowl of boiled peanuts (needed a tad more salt), ice-water in a small pitcher & stainless steel cups and a couple of cups of hot barley tea. Yum-Oh! It was a rainy, dreary evening so the tea warmed us up. The Miso soup was delicious, but was told my Miso Soup is better. First dish out was the Deep Fried Calamari with a small bowl of dipping sauce, which tastes like Sriracha mixed with mayonnaise. When ordering, we asked Sunhee how the Calamari was prepared. She said it's deep-fried then smothered with sauce. We asked that the sauce could be served in a separate dish on the side, to which she said "No problem". While awaiting for our orders, we noticed the restaurant was really quiet, with most noise coming from the table with the large number of guests. Nothing obnoxious, just people having a great dinner experience. The mask on the wall was part of the decorations of the restaurant and added to the ambiance. Somewhat dimly lit with Christmas music in the background. Back to the food. The Calamari was cooked to perfection. Not overcooked (fried) and the light breading didn't separate from the flesh of the squid. It was delicious. Crispy on the outside and tender Calamari on the inside. I tasted the sauce, but I'm not a sauce kind of eater, so just the Calamari for me. The taste reminded me of Salt 'n Pepper Squid served at Chinese restaurants. No sooner had we finished one dish, the Sashimi Omakase (Large) was presented to us. I love the Japanese touch in dishes as is often said, the eyes feast first. Every piece of fish (especially the salmon), was totally fresh and delicious. Small dollops of Tobiko (orange & black) topped the slices of sashimi, which adds just the right bit of salt and texture. The Sunomono (Japanese-style Pickled Cucumber) was so very tasty. The cucumbers are sliced nearly paper-thin and are soaked in a brine of sweet mirin vinegar. This was our first visit to Sushi Hiro, but it won't be our last. Highly recommended. If one is looking for a Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant in Federal Way, you need not look any further than Sushi Hiro. Where else can one get sushi, sashimi and Korean Kalbi in the same place?

Decided to make a little stop and so glad we did! So fresh and tasty! Clean and tidy with friendly staff! Will definitely make the drive to come back . And the cucumber refresher at the end... life changing. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting. Hidden gem in the city for sure!

Got to enjoy Sushi Hero for the first time and the food was tasty. Like they say "eyes always eat first" and everything was a masterpiece. We had the following: -Korean chicken wings -fish & chip w/ madai -Chirashi Zushi (chef's choice assorted sashimi) -Tropical bomb - Hiro bento w/ salmon teriyaki - BTS roll Everything was delicious! Highly recommended. Service was fast and Chef & staff were super friendly and nice. Ambience is very inviting.

Went during happy hour which I feel like are standard pricing for the rolls (~8-9 per roll). Nigiri was on the pricier side. The fish was good but not the highest quality which I don't expect, but it satisfied my sushi craving. Mango tango roll: 10/10 surprisingly good combo with the sweet mango Crunch Seattle: 10/10 loved the crunch and it had more flavor?? Maybe it was the oil lol Seattle roll: 6/10 tasted like a Cali roll Spider roll: 6/10 hard to eat since the roll was so comically big but it didn't really have that much flavor either Rainbow roll: 8/10 liked the variety of fish

We came by a few weeks ago and it looks like they have a new updated menu! They still have some favorites but added a bunch of new items and dessert too! But do not worry as everyone and the decor of the restaurant is the same. My boyfriend and I still love their happy hour options as it just offers so many of our favorites and we don't eat much so it's the right portion size for us. We did try a new roll (we can't remember the name) and tried their new dessert which was interesting! They did check in on us to see how we enjoyed the new offerings which I thought was sweet as it shows that they are always trying to improve. The employees here are so sweet and remember us as well as our dogs. Each employee we had the honor of meeting have been so accommodating and treat us with such care that no other restaurant in Federal Way. They truly care and want each of their customers to be happy and satisfied. They even offer little treats for our dogs from tofu pieces and boiled eggs. We look forward to what Sushi Hiro has in store!

Decided to try this place since I saw they were dog friendly and the sushi was so good! They have a huge menu with lots of japanese/korean options. They sat us in the back away from everyone else since we had a dog and the owner even came by to say hi to our dog. The waitress offered a water bowl too. Super friendly staff and the food was great. We asked for a tea refill and they brought a whole tea pot out. Large portions and quality fish. Interior was clean and spacious. Would come back if im in the area again!

Went with a group of friends, one who already wrote a review here that describes most of how I felt. Came during happy hour and we got a few different items, but the main one we were looking at is the sausage set. But the set wasn't anything exciting after eating it. I also got a sushi roll, which was also just okay. I would like to give them another try though since one of the friends in my group said it was a favourite of his, so I'm willing to give it another chance Plus, the server that we had was very friendly and gave us a welcoming environment. A nice atmosphere overall with a modern-rustic interior.

Plenty of parking to choose from. Walked right in, was greeted and sat at a table right away. The service was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There is plenty to choose from the menu and was surprised to arrive during happy hour. The atmosphere was bright and cheerful. The food was delicious at a decent price.

Sushi Hiro is hands down my personal favorite sushi spot in Federal Way. I've tried just about all the sushi in the area, and Sushi Hiro is by far the best when it comes to price to quality. The customer service is consistently great, and Sunny, the manager, is wonderful. The team is welcoming, attentive, and always makes you feel taken care of. The chefs and staff are extremely accommodating when it comes to preferences, which I really appreciate. Their hours are super flexible, the happy hour is excellent, and the complimentary peanuts are a nice touch. Everything here is always consistent, which is why I keep coming back. I truly cannot recommend Sushi Hiro enough.

It's a Thursday night There wasn't anyone when we came in so we were quick to be seated. Music is not too noisy where we can speak without screaming. Food came out piping hot. Spider roll and dragon roll is delicious. California roll is kinda tasteless. Crispy Rangoon is not bad. The blueberry mochi is mochi ball with blueberry sauce on it. Not bad. Price is ranging from $9-$20 per items.

Enjoyed happy hour with the kids at Sushi Hiro after a long day house hunting. We entered into Very pristine quiet restaurant and had our choice of seating. We were happy to be told we subbed at happy hour so I got a signature old fashioned and we ordered the specials. My kids LOVE takoyaki so I'm glad they had some on the menu as well. They each got their own order but probably could've shared- they're a decent size! Everything was quite delicious and pretty. They had postings of karaoke nights too so check them out if that's your vibe!

Love that they are open late. Quick food delivery. I got a baked roll something 888 but it was not baked so really the only reason for a 4 star. The edamame was good. I would go again and try some other items if I'm looking for a late night eat

You do have to put a $40/person deposit but it gets refunded once you pay for your meal. There is street parking available. The place is very small which makes sense since he only serve 1 group at a time. This might be my personal opinion but Because it's only one group, I hoped it would have been a little more interactive, like the chef could have explained his technique and skills while we were waiting or at least let us see what he was doing. We sat at the bar table but it was blocked by a counter so we couldn't see anything and he didn't talk and we had to wait around 15 minutes for our first dish. Foodwise: 10 piece nigiri --- love the different fishes that was available and all of them has their own distinct texture and flavor. My husband who loves nigiri said it was a fun experience. Scallop inari - scallop was cream and soft and smooth, I think the sweetness was a little overpowering though. Seabass crudo --- for how little there was of the fish itself, there was a lot of olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. After finishing the fish, I was hoping to have some bread to eat more of the oil. Special maguro don--- I love this dish - the fish melts in your mouth, the rice went well with the fish and the wasabi was delicious. Price was also very reasonable for the quality of fish. Overall, it was a good experience, I definitely would recommend

This place is damn good. Full stop…read more I'm so tired of sushi restaurants feeling like I've walked into the same spot wearing a different font. Dragon roll? Yep. Rainbow roll? Sure, love her. Fresh and delicious is table stakes at this point. What I'm actually looking for is creativity--something inventive, exciting, new. Not papier-mâché. Not arts and crafts. Just... something I haven't already eaten a hundred times. Sushi Konami absolutely gets it. The appetizers alone deserve their own standing ovation. The breaded oysters are fantastic, especially drizzled in the chili sauce on the side. And then there are the "monkey brains"- basically a large mushroom stuffed with cream cheese and crab, battered and fried into a tempura ball of joy. Does it sound like it could stop your heart after one bite? Possibly. Will you regret eating it? Absolutely not. Just bring a defibrillator and a positive attitude. The rolls are consistently unique and interesting, the kind where you read the description and think, Okay, I trust you. It honestly feels hard to go wrong here. And if you're more of a traditionalist, no worries, you can still get your dragon roll or rainbow roll and be perfectly happy. Highly recommended. Already looking forward to my next visit.
