BEWARE OF THIS PAINT & BODY SHOP & Mark Townsend…read more I hired Mark Townsend, owner of Rockmart Paint & Body. On March 4, 2017 I brought my classic car (el camino) to Mark for a quote. Mark stated he had many years of paint shop experience and also worked for Maaco at Canton Rd. Marietta. The price quoted was $1000 for a color change, block sanded and additional clear coat sprayed. I was told a 2 week turn around. The work took 6 weeks, with story after story, excuse after excuse told (lies). At this point I wanted the car back painted or not. Knowing that I was getting tired of the run around, Mark rushed the prep and tape work in maybe a hour total and sent pictures after painted from his employer's shop at Maaco. This was around mid night the day before I was scheduled to pick up. I knew at this point the car was painted the wrong color. When I arrived to inspect and pick up, I told Mark it was the wrong color. The car was covered in pollen so this hid many of the flaws. Rubber door seals not installed back, torn door panels with misplaced trim items. Yes I paid him and to this day I regret it! I waited several days to hand wash, what I saw afterwards was a absolute disaster! Orange peel, weak paint on mirrors, prior color showing through rocker panels, grill and headlight bezels. Front header not removed, no chrome removed, paint runs in engine compartment, over spray on exhaust and new chrome tips. Weak paint and weak clear coat. I spent a week wet sanding this mess and removing over spray and items painted due to poor prep. A week or so later I contacted Mark by email stating how unhappy I was. With promises by him to make restitution for apx. a month now, I get excuse after excuse. For the record I was looking for a nice driver quality paint job and did not expect a show quality, for the price I paid. What I received was a ''amateur slop job'' with THE WORST prep work, ever! Don't allow this crook around your classic or high end vehicle ever. He lies and does not back up his work. See all negative reviews from this shop under the BBB, yellow pages and other review sites. UPDATE: Ran search of Mark Townsend in Rockmart, Ga. on google, the owner/ operator of this shop. Mark is a register child molester (sex offender) see photo and arrest record in photos posted. If you can't trust a child around Mark, how can you trust him painting your car? Mike M.
