Worst doctors office I've ever seen! They treat their patients like they're running a drive-thru. The office is pretty gross and unkempt too. Everyone is amazing. Office manager Fatima smiles and greets patients as she walks through the office making everyone feel welcome. Ashley goes above and beyond to help with FMLAS, insurance issues/verification, and prior auths. Shiza is always is able to answer my questions when I call in. We usually see Dr. Bahoo Ghafoor and he is amazing. He does not make you feel rush during your appointment and actually listens. He also let's the new providers start the work up and then he steps in at the end to give us a best treatment plan. I recommend this any of the providers to anyone I come across. (Dalaney, Yarmoni, Dr. Ghafoor, Ethan, and the new provider ) They really do care and have amazing bedside manner! read more

Attentive and helpful. Even the office staff is easy to work with and calls you back timely.

Wasn't my cup of tea.. Plain & simple. Now I will say, the staff was kind.. I felt more like the doc was trying to treat symptoms instead of the root cause. I was prescribed medication I've never needed, resulting in a SEVERE case of hives. I simply offered the doc published & peer-reviewed research backing my symptoms & she seemed as if she'd rather be anywhere else but there. Ok so I decided to do a review because I was a former and since all the reviews on google make them seem like they are so great and made by a bunch of the staff that works there (because I came across a girl on a dating site that I matched with and she said I looked familiar lol) I decided after sitting back and thinking about my really bad treatments to do a real review. Ok I stopped going to this place in I believe it was March of 2018. At the time I was seen by the Dr Pervaiz Akhter and his assistant Mani (mostly). I say mostly because Dr A would only see me on thursdays because of how "busy schedule". And he told me "you should switch your work schedule if you really care about your health". Anyway. Why did I go here for 3 years? Because I didn't realize I was sick and manic. I didn't realize that the entire time I was going here that getting bipolar medications from a PA because a Dr could not help me unless I specifically went on Thursdays. Ok so, now about a month before my mom passed from Breast Cancer she wanted to come into the office to talk to my Dr. She wanted to tell him I was severely depressed and needed counseling. Dr A had a big I don't care attitude with my mom and said it was my responsibility and not hers since I was an adult and my mom basically begged him and said when she passes id have a break down. Well a month later my mom did. Little by little did I start to break down with depression but I was stuck with Mani giving me pills. He wouldn't listen to me when I had horrible side effects to medications such as serequol because the first time I ever took it was in a hospital and I had nightmares and guess what this PA said "don't worry it'll be a different experience" well it wasn't. It was worse with insane mania. I had asked the office about how I needed to speak to Dr A and how I called out of work all week after the crippling depression. And not one time was I contacted that week. I even left notes for them to give to Dr A as well begging for a leave from work with my FMLA and not one time was I contacted. So anyway. I was so depressed from crying and the mania that I went to the office and sat there and cried and begged to speak to the dr or a phone call or anything. What did they do? They called Tempe PD on me. They told me I would end up in Aurora. So yeah anyway huge break down and after talking with family I decided to check into Aurora (even tho the place is horrible) check yelp stories for it and I'd get treatment because it was Dr A being the main Dr there. So yeah after getting out of aurora (check my profile if you wanna see what Aurora was like) I get a new Dr. My new Dr needed my medical records and this office refused to give it to me for 3 months. And also lied to my Dr asst saying they weren't getting his emails. He called I can't tell you how many times and they'd say they would fax it at the end of the day. So after getting nowhere I decide to go to the office but this time turn on my fblive and demand my records and I was not leaving until I got them. The office manager Sylvia said she was not going to give them too me and she was calling the cops. A cop showed up and asked me what was going on and I explained what was going on. So the officer went inside with me and told Sylvia that she needed to fax the records over. They then got faxed. I also had to deal with for a while of family not believing me. They would contact my family and say I was threatening and dangerous. So yeah think about that one. Think about being an adult with your family being contacted telling them that when it wasn't true. Also if you have any type of mental health disease this is not the place either. I later find out that Dr A specialized in addiction and alcoholism. So yeah you see my 1 review? Yes I don't do google reviews but decided to do one because I've been stable for quite some time and have a great time and have had a bunch of friends going through mental diseases reach out to me. If Yelp offered the opportunity to rate a place/service with a zero, that would have been my rating. After much research and referrals from friends, my college aged daughter living in Tempe, made herself an appointment at Transitions Center, Tempe. She is currently attending school far from our home state of Georgia and was very much looking forward to talking with someone local regarding her social anxiety issues. She arrived for her 4:00 appointment 30 minutes prior, as instructed, to fill out her new patient paperwork. The waiting room was very busy and the practice only had one staff member working the reception desk. My daughter wasn't given her NP intake paperwork to fill out until 15 minutes after checking in at 3:45. She proceeded to fill out the forms and at 3:55 approached the front desk with her completed forms. Still at 4:10 she hadn't been called from the waiting room for her 4:00 scheduled appointment. It's now 4:12 and a girl comes up front to tell her that since she arrived late at 4:10 the doctor can no longer see her today." What?!?!?! She's been in the waiting room since 3:30. They went on to say further that "since you arrived late, the doctor won't be able to see you today and you will have to reschedule as we can't run behind or it will affect other patients appointments." So my daughter, who has anxiety issues to begin with and that is the primary reason for her visit today, leaves the office crying and calls me. I'm 3000 miles across the country and on the phone with a child who is crying hysterically about what just happened. Not only was she very much looking forward to her appointment, she was also now embarrassed and anxious. HOW can a patient who arrives early for their appointment be told that they won't be seen because they are late? I was so ANGRY and frustrated by what happened that I called and demanded to speak with the office manager. After researching and questioning the team members on her end, the office manager explained to me that they had indeed made an error. Apparently what happened was that the front desk girl completely forgot about my daughter sitting there and never checked her in as "arrived" until 4:10 -- the staff in the back thought that's when she arrived and made the decision not to see her. What is SO very irritating about this entire experience is that this is supposed to be a place where people can come who are seeking help. Help is the last thing this practice offered my daughter. They are obviously understaffed and lack essential interoffice communication between team members. It was clear that they didn't care enough to try and make right messing up my daughters appointment - they offered no solution other than to tell her she would have to reschedule. There are many practices out there that are staffed with compassionate, intelligent people who are equipped to handle themselves from the perspective of patient care and customer service. This is NOT that place and we will NOT be rescheduling. read more

At my daughters request, I went with her to an appt. Kara never acknowledged that I was there and was too busy typing away on her computer to ever even make eye contact with my daughter. She made no effort to actually know her or understand her struggles. Lastly and most damaging, she prescribed her an anti depressant that negatively interacts with her seizure medication. It could have been disastrous. Thank goodness my daughter double checked with her neurologist who said absolutely NOT to take it. Needless to say, my daughter never went back and has found a different and wonderful psychiatrist. read more

It would have 5 stars because I loved Dr. Ghafoor. Then one day he wasn't there. I was told when I came in expecting to see the provider I had built a rapport with, which is a big deal as mental health providers should know, that I would "be seeing ________ _______." I think the provider should let people know they will be leaving. Then, YOU choose who you want to be seen by as not everyone is right for every patient and vice-versa. read more

The amazing service provided by the staff at the front desk of operations and the professionalism of the counselors make this place an amazing solution when you are in need of assistance. They respond to emails, phone calls, they are always present at the facility so when you call you get a human being answering the phones and not a senseless robotic full of useless options. I was referred to Transition Center when my previous doctor retired. I've been seeing Channing and she is great. I highly recommend Channing. The Transition Center has a medical assistant Alex who is wonderful. Alex is personable with a great "bedside manner." She's easy to talk too, as if she's known you for years. Alex is a MA you would want too keep. Hopefully, Transition Center knows how great both of the women are to the office. I would recommend the Transition Center too a friend or family member. read more

The office staff and appointment scheduling gets 0 stars. As a patient since January, I have not once been able to contact a human when calling the office. Last month I was having phone issues and saw a voicemail pop up I couldn't listen to...I also was near the office and popped in to address why they called and was met with a woman who seemed to know everything and wouldnt let me move an appointment I had scheduled 2 weeks out to move it up. The woman at the front desk who refused to move up my appointment didn't realize that is why the office had called me was to move that appointment but also refused to move my appointment. I left under the impression the July 9th appointment was scheduled as is. Next thing I know, my appointment for July 9th was cancelled with my physician without my knowledge nor consent because apparently the office needed to move the date but couldn't reach me by phone. This is after I went in the office to change the same appointment. I was in the office trying to work and communicate with them and they didn't tell me they were trying to move the appointment. I had timely documentation I needed to have in for financial reasons that was dependent on this date. I reached out to my physician to get an assessment and all it said was assessment is needed. Well I couldn't get an appointment in. So I called again. I have literally called over 20 times, get sent to voicemail, am told appointments will call me back. It's now 3 days later of me continuing to reschedule this appointment and no one has attempted to reach out. Who ever is the office staff is costing you business, putting more of a burden on patients that should be and is not doing their job at all. I'm now at a point where I know I can't call nor can I even talk to someone in the office and get any answers from office staff. Instead of admitting a mistake or fault not even a callback about what happened, they dropped me as a patient which was the best thing for my mental health, right? Truly caring about patients...haha. But it actually was because I now have a better and more compassionate provider. After I posted a review on Google the office staff then retaliated against me by sending me an outstanding bill. This is an error since my deductible had already been met before I even stepped foot in their office back in January. This shows exactly how incompetent the office staff is that tried to send me a bill like I owe them $600 when in fact I know and my insurance company verified I owe them $0. See how they handle reviews? Retaliation instead of care. And as an additional follow up the appointment snafu mentioned cost me over $1800. read more

Using that word in a professional conversation along with the hesitancy to repeat the information for a patient is, in your representative's words, "sus." I recently had 2 of my sons here to see the Dr.A both of my boys have different issues one is highly depressed and the other is an alcoholic. The staff was great the day of along with the Dr my one will probably be returning as he's an adult and can make the choice but as far as my alcohol son he will not be returning I have called several times looking for help or advice I have yet to receive a phone call or email. He informed my son the truth and was completely honest with him as my son was with him my son actually really liked him and took what he said to heart and has decided to be clean and sober with that being said we called several places to detox no where to go at his age and I called Aurora were Dr A works they want 4,000 for 3-5 day stay unfortunately we can't do that now . So asking Dr A for advice what to do next how can we do it at home what signs to look for ect. No call back I look at it this way 1. Thankful he reached my son . 2. I pd him 190 for visit I'm sure he can take 5min to respond to us . If anyone reading this has suggestions without rude comments please tell me. read more

The office is pretty quick to get you in. The front desk people are friendly, and the office calls to remind you of your appointments. The billing office (Clara) is helpful. All in all, we've had a good experience. It is EXTREMELY hard to find a pediatric psychiatrist, so even though it's out of network, we are willing to go and pay the 30% portion. Dr. Gafoor seems like a good doctor and is very personable. I'd recommend him for children or adults. read more

I see Channing here and she is absolutely wonderful. This whole practice has been great and they truly care about their patients. From check in to check out the process is always smooth and the front desk ladies have always been nothing but nice. They offer water bottles to their patients and also maintain a very calm and relaxing environment. I highly recommend the transition center to anyone!! read more

Let me start off by saying Dr.Ghafor is great. Other psychologists I've seen were much less informative, and less thorough. Thanks to this I am confident in the choices Dr. Ghafor makes when it comes to changing my medication and doses. When it comes to mental health, it's so important you find a psychologist who cares for their patients and is knowledgeable about your disorder(s) through and through. And while Dr. Ghafor is a great fit for me, the administration at Transitions is terrible. There are scheduling issues up the wazoo. I make my appointments over a month in advance yet when it comes to the day the administration tries to change the time on me. I've been told my appointment was on a different day I had it originally scheduled for. I truly hope Transitions gets this under control before it gets worse. After all, they hold patients responsible for their appointments by charging you if you miss. Unfortunately Transitions administration doesn't hold up their end. read more

Awesome and caring staff! Dr. Akhter is extremely knowledgeable, I appreciated his "evidence based" approach. He spent ample time listening and asking the right questions before devising a treatment plan. Dr Akhter gladly took the time to include my husband towards the end of my appointment patiently reiterating what he and I had already discussed, (in laymans terms) at my request. Thorough and thoughtful in making sure we didn't leave his office with unanswered questions. I highly recommend Transitions Center and Dr Akhter for quality mental health care services. read more

Would not recommend this place to anyone! Condescending staff and Dr. Ahktar is not caring about his patients what so ever. I feel he doesn't give the correct dose and overdoses you with unnecessary medication. I would not recommend anyone waste their time with this practice. Dr Ahktar gave me anti seizure medication for depression and gave me 200 mg of Wellbutrin right off the bat for depression when I was only on 100 mg of Zoloft prior. This medication made it worse and I had admitted myself in the hospital for being suicidal. Thank you transitions center. To reply to the person who responded to my review that is a complete lie. I called 6 hours before my scheduled appointment to reschedule because I couldn't afford my copay. I asked if it could be billed the staff said no and told me I will be penalized with a $75 rescheduling fee. I went to the appointment after having to borrow money for my copay and saw Dr. A to avoid that fee and told your office staff I would not be coming back because I've never had to reschedule and I'm on time with my copays and don't owe you guys any money!! No compassion to work with me. I was no way shape or form abusive or condescending. I didn't even raise my voice once. Telling me I'm not welcome back is too funny. I told you guys I'm never coming back. Nice comeback to try to make yourselves look good. And the funniest part is I saw dr ahktar after I paid my copay and he tried to tell me his dentist charges him $130 to cancel his appointments. I told him that was hard to believe after he handed me a 60 day script of prescriptions!!!! I can't believe you can talk down to a patient like this on social media. This facility and staff could care less to retain a patient who has been seeing the them every two weeks for the last two months and for 8 months prior every month. Your loss not mine. read more
