I used to bowl here in high school and college, but hadn't been back in years. The lanes have since been renovated and everything really looks nice on both the inside and outside. I recently had a very constructive conversation with the owner of Transit Lanes Bowling Alley. She took the time to truly listen to my concerns and was very receptive to the feedback I offered. That kind of leadership speaks volumes. She acknowledged the service difficulties and assured me they would be addressed -- and I believe she will follow through. The facility itself is very good, with a welcoming environment that makes it a great place to spend time with family. If the service issues are corrected as promised, this will be an outstanding place to visit. I appreciate an owner who stands behind her business and is willing to improve it. We thought it might be fun to bowl as a family, so we went to Transit Lanes. Lo and behold, no one can bowl without a reservation. On Saturdays, lanes aren't available until 10:00 pm. (Also, the gentleman at the desk was obviously stressed out and very unpleasant.) We'd love to try it if we could get in. I called to make a reservation, and it was a shitshow. We decided to go bowling on our children's winter break. So we booked a lane for one hour on a Wednesday afternoon. The girl at the register said it would be $87 dollars. We were blown away by how pricey it was. But played our two games we fit within an hour. Mind you we took no breaks or relaxed just bowled to make the 1 hour time. Something didn't seem right so I called the alley after the fact. Come to find out I was charged per game not for the hour. This should have been conveyed to me at the time of checkout. I called and spoke to Henry Poole who made everything right. He apologized and advised me that per game is more expensive than just the hour. It ended up being a $30+ difference. So here is some advice to anyone that's not an experienced bowler pay for the hour get there before your time pick out a ball and get your shoes. I met up with a few friends and decided to go bowling for my birthday. I haven't been bowling since before COVID. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to see how awesome this bowling alley has changed for the better. Everything looks and feels brand new. There is fun lighting, updated scorekeepers, TVs, and comfortable benches and seats. It felt like a brand new volley alley from the last time I was here. The ball return was super fast, the machines never had an issue with the five of us bowling on the lane. The bathrooms were super clean and very updated. Overall, this was a great birthday plan and it was so much fun. We will definitely be coming back way more often. read more

Had our 50th Wedding Anniversary party at the 300 on Transit and WOW, what a great venue to have chosen. The private bowling alleys were such a hit, got everybody up and moving and socializing with each other! The food was great, so many compliments from our guests. This was my first indoor group activity since Covid started. The bowling alley was set up so that there were barriers between each pair of lanes which added to a great sense of comfort. We ordered food and it was better than expected! I had the cheeseburger with tater tots and my friend had the chicken sandwich. Both tasted great. Menu items were reasonably priced and the service was prompt considering there was only one server on at the time. You start your ordering process from the touchscreen controls at your lane. The screens above the lane that keep score are sooooo much fun because you can take a picture next to each persons name and change as much as you want; my son and I were doing the silliest pictures. My cousin and I were looking for something to do for our young children over break and thought we would do an afternoon of bowling. This place is great! The staff couldn't be more helpful and nice, it looked newly renovated, VERY clean, and inexpensive for games and shoes. They had bumpers and the ball ramps for the little ones, which was really nice- first time I had seen the ball ramps and they were so cool for the kids. They also had VERY light balls available for the kids too. We ordered some food to snack on while bowling (hungry kids and moms is never a good situation lol), and the food was actually very good - the fries and tater tots weren't greasy for being fried items, but would like to try some other items next time too, very curious about the pizza. There's a private room with lanes for bigger events that looked really nice, so keeping this place in mind for birthday parties or future events. I came here with friends to celebrate my 22nd birthday over the weekend two days ago. (I had made a reservation a week prior). When we went up to buy our shoes they told us we all had to pay on one card, they didn't tell us that over the phone when making the reservation which was frustrating, and most bowling alleys let us buy our shoes separately. I figured this was their policy so I didn't stress too much. The staff at the front desk were really nice about the whole thing and had been sweet to us during our game, they were just doing their job. My problem was the bartender. Blonde lady with heavy face makeup. Me and my three other friends came in wanting to order food and drinks. I saw they were a bit busy so I wasn't upset or anything when she said we had to wait about 10 minutes before she could serve us. We wait at the bar for about 20 minutes patiently, but I notice she's taking other people's orders and completely walking by us. At some point and older couple walks up the the bar and sits right next to us and within 30 seconds she's greeting them and asking what their order was, got them their mixed drinks within 5 minutes. At this point I'm frustrated cause our game as started and this lady has been ignoring us for now 20 minutes. I again politely try to get her attention, she looked at me a couple times then walked away as if she didnt hear me. At this point I go to bowl while 2 of my other friends stay at the bar. She tells them that she ignored us before because we looked "too young". (Even though you can also order food at the bar?). When asked why she didn't just ask for ID, or ask if we wanted food, she shrugged and pretty much told them "because she didn't feel like it". At this point I'm annoyed, so I go back to the bar after throwing a few balls this time with both my ID and my Card in hand and out openly so she can see it. She walked by me, looked at me, and rolled her eyes while proceeding to take other guests who were walking in by me. I wasn't able to get her to make me a drink until my other friend (who was with the four of us earlier) and her boyfriend came. They were ordering their drinks and I threw myself in and asked her if she could make me a double VOD/cran while working on theirs. She kind of scrunched her face at me a bit then asked for ID. I hand it to her and she stared at it for a long time, held it up to the light, and even tried bending it a bit as I'm sitting there waiting for her to finished. She rolled her eyes at me, gave me my ID back, then made my drink. I paid for it, and took a few sips while walking back to my lane. I didn't really taste any alcohol (or atleast not the double shot I ordered). I thought maybe I was just delusional. But I had my friend take a sip who agreed with me and said the same about their drink with this specific bartender. I downed that entire drink and wasn't even buzzed on an empty stomach. She was so rude the whole night to me and some of my friends. Definitely put a sour mood on what was supposed to be a nice evening. I used to love coming here back when I bowled in high school, but this experience put a sour taste in my mouth. Definitely need more training in customer service etiquette. read more

I was seriously impressed with this bowling alley and they handled the COVID situation very well with dividers up between all of the lanes. The staff were very friendly and helpful with prompt service. I was really impressed by all the upgrades with the bowling systems with different types of games and all the updated key pads it was pretty cool. Shoes are like 5 bucks to rent and I kicked myself because I forgot to bring the ones I own once again lol. Fun night bowling with a couple friends on Friday night. Places was busy, we had to wait until 9:30 in order to get a lane because they have league going at 7. Went there at 9:30 and made it in the line. Friday night at starting at 10 is comic night, where all lights are turned off and neon lights are on. Prices were decent for games and rental. Great atmosphere and chill. We played 3 games and lasted for a couple hours. Overall, nice bowling place around Buffalo. read more

Great time for kids at my daughter's birthday bowling party! The assigned "Hostess" was attentive and friendly. They knocked off the price for 1 guest as one of the Lanes had continuous problems and slowed down the kids from enjoying bowling. I'm glad they offered this - good customer service. Pizza was yummy. Balloon decoration with bowling pin to take home (guests write a message on the pin) makes for a nice memory. Fun for kids. In 2 hours all done. No cleaning up for Mom! And no hearing "I'm bored." It has been a very long time since I stepped back into Transit Lanes. This outing was for a children's birthday party. We were given two lanes towards the far end and walked over to find that our party space was already set up. Complete with plates, napkins, and balloons. One person was assigned to us (Josh) and he did an excellent job. He brought drinks, food, answered every question, and at the end spent some time interacting with my 7 yr old niece. What a great host! The food we had was simple pizza and fries. It was really good. That is saying something in a town full of places that make pizza and fries. They had no objecting to us bringing in our own cupcakes. I really appreciated that! Transit Lanes really hasn't changed all that much. It feels a bit dated but in an area that moves as slowly as Western NY, this should be expected. I was sad to find out that they finally ditched the arcade. I still have fond memories of the arcade that was in the front where the pro-shop is now. The new arcade they built was never as good, but I felt it gave kids somewhere else to go if bowling became boring for them. The area around our lanes were clean. It felt safe and secure, and we didn't have to worry about the kids running around and having fun. The staff were all very friendly. There was plenty of parking. While the place was busy it didn't feel loud or annoying. It turned out to be a great time and a good choice for a kids party! read more

Our bowling league is at Transit Lanes and we have not been there since last year due to Covid but our league started again last night. Over the course of the sit down Transit Lanes went through a remodel. The remodel to me was equal to bowling in an office building now. It just seemed very impersonal and bright. It does not have the same nostalgic feel of a bowling alley anymore. I miss the tables and chairs along with the couch you could sit now waiting to bowl. Now it have this way different feel. I still like bowling there. The food is great from Keller's and the staff is very nice. I just wish they picked a different design then what they have now. I will say that the score boards are much nicer and more high tech but that about all I liked but the remodel. read more

Love this place but not a fan of the "cheugy" hotel-looking redesign. Much of the decor is already outdated (seriously mustaches haven't been a thing since 2012 why are they on the walls). Every year we go to Transit Lanes on New Years Day. Our family, my son's family and many of his friends all meet at 10:00 AM (one year it was 11AM). My son called several weeks ago while planning this year's visit and was told 10AM was fine. We get there today - lots of us and are told opening is at Noon. My wife tells the Manager/Owner (whoever he is) that we've done this for several years. The man lies to my wife and says they've never opened at 10AM and he's worked there 20 years. Disputing something is one thing, blatantly lying to your customers is another. We'll never be back. Manor Lanes at Sheridan and Military will be our new celebration alley. read more

Renovations look great. We used to go bowling there every week But not anymore due to their ridiculous prices. if you want to go bowling on a Friday Or Saturday night, you have to pay $40 per person no matter how many games you play. it used to be packed on the weekends but now not even half the place is full. Nevertheless, the persistent repetitive motion of throwing a 15lbs bowling ball down a bowling lane did something to help improve my mechanical motion. The 52 lane facility is home to some of the most technologically advanced lanes in the Williamsville area. Each lane contains a state of the art operation center that allows for automatic calculating of scores, requesting waitress attention, and assistance for lane errors. Transit Lanes has $.75 games on Monday night, so it is a great excuse to get out after work, blow off some steam and have a lot of laughs. And a lot of beer. Please drink responsibly. Transit has a large bar area with arcade games, (Bubble Hockey!). Their bar has a great variety of beer, including local craft brews and is well stocked otherwise. Their restaurant service is very bar-esque. Mostly finger foods and sandwiches - it isn't going to be gourmet, but for a bowling alley it's pretty darn good. For the more serious bowler, Transit also has one of the best Pro-Shops in the area. Get on out and go bowling! The best bowling alley I've been to in Buffalo hands down. I also went to Transit Lanes for the Cosmic (midnight) bowling. Like Chun L. said $14 bucks gets you shoes and 3 hours of bowling. Something to know though, you can only get your lane(s) when everyone in your party is present. I haven't been yet during the week but I remember seeing a sign that advertised $0.75 games I believe Monday through Thursday from around 8:00pm to midnight. Next time I go I'll check on this and confirm the days and time. The lanes are indeed quite technologically advanced compared to other bowling alleys. The terminal for inputting your information is a nice little touch screen and there is a comfy couch to replace the usual hard plastic chairs. There are tons of animations for spares, strikes, etc. which are fun, unnecessary, but fun. The bar looked nicely stocked, though we stuck to beer. A pitcher of Blue Light was $8.50 and they looked to have mainly the standard domestics on tap (Blue, Bud, etc). They also have some amazing french fries. I haven't tried any other food than that, but these fries were some of the best I've had. A basket is about $2.50 if I remember correctly. Transit Lanes is definitely one of the nicer bowling alleys in Buffalo, the Cosmic Bowling is fun, but even the regular bowling would be quite an enjoyable experience at this very modern 10-Pin location. read more

My kids were bowling here and the lane kept dropping the gate randomly, blocking the balls. The staff couldn't fix it over the course of 2.5 hours. When we suggested switching to another lane, they said that it had been fixed and they wouldn't switch us. But the problem kept happening and they just act annoyed and condescending. And they wouldn't even let us play another game or refund us. I get that businesses can be busy and trouble can happen, but when they're rude and don't care then I'm compelled to leave a negative review. I would suggest finding another alley with more competent and nicer people. read more

50 cent games on Mondays after 9:30! For three games and shoe rentals it's about $4. Possibly the cheapest bowling that ever existed. Do be prepared to wait for a lane though. I'd suggest getting a wristband and heading over to the bar for some drinks while you wait. $7-$8 pitchers of beer? Sign me up! That's the cost of a single bottle of beer here in the city. The food seems quality and perhaps some of the staff as well, yet I was turned off by one particular staff member who angrily insisted that he would not put $0.99 on a credit card for another round of bowling. Cheap way to have fun with friends. Nice enough staff, $.75 cent games on Mondays and Thursdays, buy your own shoes and they'll probably pay for themselves soon after if you frequent the alley. They have a decent supply of bowling balls for every size hand. The lounge couches in front of the bowling screens are super cozy and comfortable but too far away from the machine so you have to awkwardly stand hunched over while entering players names. They play good music, last night was old school 90's and we were loving every second of it. The place wasn't too crowded around 9:30 on a Monday night. Plenty of room in the parking lot and it was very easy to get the bartenders attention. We got a few pitchers over the course of the night, $8 for Molson, but we upgraded to Blue Light for $10, not bad at all. The bathrooms were really clean, the area around us looked like it was well maintained. This will definitely be my go to bowling alley when the mood strikes (ha, ha, ha) read more

This used to be the primary place my family and I would bowl but after today we will take our business elsewhere. We arrived mid-afternoon and the display at the register clearly said M-Th 9a - 5p was $25 an hour. Our group was told we couldn't have the hourly rate because it was "too busy" and had to pay the per person/per game rate. That's a poor business practice to change pricing on a whim. It also wasn't too busy. We were there just over an hour and there were no less than 10 open lanes while we were there. I would have been fine with the price change/restriction had that been advertised, but saying you're "too busy" to offer the rate advertised is false advertising and shady. read more

Awesome bowling alley, the place is clean, great prices. But the best thing about this alley, that separates from others, is the staff. Dan and Tiffany are great, they really make you feel at home, welcomed, and keeps you smiling. Tiffany is probably the best bartender that has ever served me and a awesome all around human being. Dan is a outstanding person, always ready to help and fox any problem, and goes beyond the call of duty to make you feel at home and welcomed. On Mondays it's only 75¢ games which I consider pretty cheap. The bowling was pretty typical, we had a blast, ordered some pitchers of beer and played about 8 games with 3 people.
