Space wise in this office isn't really as big just like 9 computers with employees. Some of them are empty and it's depends on how fast each transaction is with each person they are dealing with. I waited like probably less than or almost an hour for mine and the transaction is pretty straight forward so it only took me like 10 mins max and I was able to leave the place. At the time of the takeover, I cashed out my 401(k) because there was not much in it. Taxes were taken out of the check and I received a 1099-R from State Street. Fast forward to this year and the IRS sends me a letter saying that my measly little check was reported to them as a hefty check and that I owed them a bunch of money for taxes. HUH? I call my old employer (who was awesome!) and they tell me I have to contact the retiree services directly. That's where State Street comes in. I called State Street and the first operator takes the information, places me on hold for a little wait and comes back to tell me she has no record of the company and there's nothing she can do for me. SAY WHAT??? There's no way I'm paying the IRS a bunch of cash for your mistake. I call back, explain this to another operator (Susan Davenport) and she diligently tried to help me figure out what's going on and who to direct me to that will resolve this mystery. Where's Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated when you need them? Hey, if something weird is gonna happen, it's gonna happen to me (and then I write a funny play about it)!! How exciting!! Stay tuned for updates. I'm sure the mystery will be solved (and the monster in the rubber mask will turn out to be my old boss. *smile*). Turns out that the department that once handled our account is no longer in existence, but there is a group that has taken over those accounts. Douglas was on the ball and sorted out the whole mess. For some reason, my cash was in two separate accounts. They sent two checks - one to my mailing address and one to an old address. I got the little check, but not the big one. Because the account is so old, I have to jump through some hoops to update address, get a password, stop payment on the old check and issue a new one, but the great news is there's a huge check out there with my name on it!!

I did not get one last year either and hard to remember how I did get it. I did reach a man and he said on a recorded line to call your former employer. I went back to the former employer and tried to sign in but now the password which I wrote down did not work. The end I locked myself out of the tool to get my 1099-R and it will be a week before they can reset it by sending me a new pin. You would think the IRS would buckle down on these companies when it is the law for them to mail these 1099-R's and they are not. If you make a mistake, I am sure they won't be so nice to you.

Thank you Weymouth for having the South Shore's worst intersection (Columbian Square) and for offering us Butts and Bets II and Jonathan the Master of Food. Thank you for having the best rubbish service ever (they take anything and everything). I also enjoy knowing that I can put anything outside of my house and know that it will be taken within minutes. Thank you to the Weymouth youths who smashed my pumpkins even though I was standing in the driveway. At least I don't have to throw them out myself. You would have had five stars if it wasn't for your overzealous school maintenance workers who decimate our decades-old grapevine twice in one year, just so the kids would be safe walking to school and free from ticks (because ticks apparently live grapes).

I've always been a huge fan of public libraries and I love spending time in them. Hingham is…read moreblessed with one of the best around and it's really worth getting acquainted with this branch. For starters the librarians are consistently helpful and top-notch. They go out of their way to help you find whatever it is you're looking for and to be available for assistance. The library building itself, while outwardly a bit dated in design, is light, airy and comfortable inside. Sign up for emails from the library on their website and you will hear about upcoming musical concerts, art exhibits, movie showings, the book club, lectures, readings by authors, and a host of other offerings. The library has its own gallery where you can regularly view all kinds of art. In addition to the books, the library has terrific DVD and CD collections. There is art work that you can borrow too and museum passes available. And all this is free! We're so lucky to have a great library system in general but the Hingham library is really something special. It's a great place to spend time.
