Parking is a bit cramped; there's lots of smokers hanging about outside; the inside is filled with people waiting in what seems like an eternal queue. When you enter, there will be a kiosk to your right-- use that to "check-in", either for an appointment or as a walk-in. There's no "can I just ask you a quick question?" here. Use the kiosk. There's not much to entertain you, just one TV screen that shows announcements (Have you applied for Medicare today?). No ambient elevator music. Bring a book or something to quietly entertain yourself. Don't play music videos over speakerphone or carry on a lengthy conversation while in the lobby. Security will come out and politely ask you to take it outside. I went to the SSA in Hanover on a Wednesday around 11:15AM. Didn't give myself much leeway there. But they TAKE PEOPLE until they close-- they don't kick those in the lobby out after 12PM. The kiosk must stop giving tickets/numbers after that time. I was taken back probably around noon (45 minute wait). The woman who helped me was super friendly and efficient. When she didn't know "for sure" the answers to my questions, she looked them up. Once she was satisfied with her research, I was able to get the paperwork completed that I needed. Super happy to have a Social Security Administration office so close to my home-- and central to many others.

I'm on the fence about this company and will have to update this review as things progress…read more Years ago I worked at a company that was taken over by another company. At the time of the takeover, I cashed out my 401(k) because there was not much in it. Taxes were taken out of the check and I received a 1099-R from State Street. Fast forward to this year and the IRS sends me a letter saying that my measly little check was reported to them as a hefty check and that I owed them a bunch of money for taxes. HUH? I call my old employer (who was awesome!) and they tell me I have to contact the retiree services directly. That's where State Street comes in. I called State Street and the first operator takes the information, places me on hold for a little wait and comes back to tell me she has no record of the company and there's nothing she can do for me. SAY WHAT??? There's no way I'm paying the IRS a bunch of cash for your mistake. I call back, explain this to another operator (Susan Davenport) and she diligently tried to help me figure out what's going on and who to direct me to that will resolve this mystery. Where's Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated when you need them? Hey, if something weird is gonna happen, it's gonna happen to me (and then I write a funny play about it)!! How exciting!! Stay tuned for updates. I'm sure the mystery will be solved (and the monster in the rubber mask will turn out to be my old boss. *smile*). Turns out that the department that once handled our account is no longer in existence, but there is a group that has taken over those accounts. Douglas was on the ball and sorted out the whole mess. For some reason, my cash was in two separate accounts. They sent two checks - one to my mailing address and one to an old address. I got the little check, but not the big one. Because the account is so old, I have to jump through some hoops to update address, get a password, stop payment on the old check and issue a new one, but the great news is there's a huge check out there with my name on it!!

I started working on my taxes and like usual State Street Services did not send me a 1099-R. I…read morelooked everywhere on who to call. I did not get one last year either and hard to remember how I did get it. I did reach a man and he said on a recorded line to call your former employer. I went back to the former employer and tried to sign in but now the password which I wrote down did not work. The end I locked myself out of the tool to get my 1099-R and it will be a week before they can reset it by sending me a new pin. You would think the IRS would buckle down on these companies when it is the law for them to mail these 1099-R's and they are not. If you make a mistake, I am sure they won't be so nice to you.

Any time you call for anything, they'll find a way to explain the work away or tell you it's your problem. Whether it's potholes, garbage collection missing your street, 18-wheelers going up residential streets and unloading at 3 AM, or the constant sediment in the water/water shutdowns. Most recently, I called DPW to report two dead trees that pose a safety concern (listed in Weymouth's laws at Section 8-601) and after having to explain to the interrupting woman (Denni) for the 50th time that I wasn't calling about overhanging limbs, she told me she would contact the "Town Arborist" who she said has no contact info because "he's always in the field" (I can only imagine the amount of work this person is doing on our tax dollars). She then called me back to tell me "they can do whatever they want on private property." What a statement. If the Mystery Arborist actually exists, I'm sure he never left his barstool. I then called the Mayor's Secretary (Jeanne) who kept telling me "all you have to do is Google and call them" despite me having said repeatedly the business is owned by an investment company that uses a dead (fake) phone number. Not to mention the whole point is the TOWN should be the ones to notify them, not random citizens. I don't know where they find these useless dropouts, but god help you if you ever have to call anyone in this building for anything important. They are guaranteed to do nothing. Everyone in Weymouth Town Hall should be fired and replaced with people that are willing to work.
