The outdoor playground is a huge hit, and has everything a kid could want. The adult space upstairs has an absolutely incredible layout. There are many quiet study rooms and pods that can be reserved for use, as well as an impressive amount of individual workspaces that are designed in a way that they feel private and quiet. There are also community rooms in a range of sizes available for reservation - some holding 75+ people! We love coming here to study or work, and it is the perfect space to spend time with the kids in our lives! They also host community markets in their outdoor space, including live musicians! I can't recommend Tufts Library enough!

I want to give a shout out to two really helpful Staff that made my time there seamless. The first one was SYDNEY, actually left the desk and guided me to the right location and used the equipment to get my project done since I was unfamiliar how to maneuver it! She directed me to another floor where another Staff member DUSTIN, guided and helped me complete project! I hope the Supervisors know how wonderful these two Staffers are! Thanks for all your help!

There are so many things to love about the Thomas Crane Public Library, that this review will…read morebecome a "listicle" style of review. So... without further adieu: - Library of Things: It's already amazing enough that libraries have books, movies, music, magazines, and other media. Thomas Crane also has an ample select of items that can be checked out: wellness and sport, hobby, tech, tools, home, and many more. - Green Space: There is a large outdoor area with a handful of benches and trees. Not enough to call it a mini-park, but enough to be noted, and great for reading or relaxing outside on a nice day. I think they have Wifi available outdoors, too. - Staff: everyone I've interacted with has been patient, friendly, and kind. - The Richardson Building: This is a wing of the library from 1882. The wood throughout, lighting fixtures, stained glass windows, all are from, or inspired, a different time. It is like a special, permanent exhibit in a museum, and something I loved to have in my local library when I lived in Quincy. - Common Space: I hold that libraries are one of the few public spaces where one can exist without spending money. While this isn't shopping mall, its not a bad place for someone to spend a few hours. - Cafe: I never bought food or coffee, but it's gratifying to have a cafe available in a space like this. - Bookstore: While as with the cafe I haven't bought any books, it's cool to have a dedicated space for buying books the library may want to sell for whatever reason. - Parking: need I say more? A lot with more than enough space for library patrons. I don't recall their ever not being a spot when I needed one. - Collections: While not as large as Boston Public Library, Thomas Crane has an impressive collection of materials and media. Everything is well organized too. There's even board and card games available to borrow. The one and only complaint I have is that some of the furniture, namely the carrells are a little worn.

I was excited to have a library within walking distance to my new home. I walked over, about a mile…read moreat 3pm on a Wednesday and it was closed, didn't open til 5pm that day. It has very strange hours; Monday 1PM-9PM, Tuesday 1PM-9PM, Wednesday 5PM-9PM and Thursday 9AM-5PM. It's closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The library section is EXTREMELY small, I was honestly shocked at how small and what little books they had. The building is very large yet the book section is a short hallway of sorts with 5-6 rows of bookcases on each side as you walk to the end of the room. The bookcases are about 5 feet in length with about 5 shelf's of books. In comparison to the other libraries it is tiny. There also isn't any computer access, inclusive of a computer catalog to see what books are available there and at the other town libraries. I was pretty disappointed and will be going to check out the other town libraries. It is a beautiful building though and will post some photos later when I have more time.

They have some computers also in the center of second floor for public to use as well which is great for those who don't have personal comps. Quiet and packed when i stopped in. The lady had some work to do so i brought my laptop and found a powered work station and hopped on. Public WiFi so have your own security measures for your personal comps. WiFi, is serviceable though, managed to pull up what i needed for work and edit / execute without issue. Haven't tried playing much outside YouTube but that works with minimal buffer. Clean and open space with a lot of resources!

They've got three floors: first floor has children's books, coffee area, cubicles where you can sit to study; second floor has more nonfiction novel options + more seating for studying, as well as private quiet study rooms which you can book in advance with the library; 3rd floor has more seating & is more quiet. Staff here is very kind and helpful if you need help with anything. LOTS of parking here. They're open Monday-Wednesday 9am-9pm, Thursdays 1pm-9pm, Friday & Saturday 9am-5pm, & Sunday closed.

At my last visit, I spent most of my time in a side room where they hosted a children's storytime. Check the library calendar because they have some fun stuff coming up at the North Quincy branch - including mini golf with 2 different times for kids and adults. The librarians are wonderful, smart and resourceful. I never go downtown for anything or even to another branch when I order online and pick up there. When my children were younger we spent hours on the rug in the childrens section enjoying the best children's books before they could talk. I spent hours there writing my dissertation and still appreciate the encouragement and support I got from the staff. Special programs in the big add even more to this branch which is almost as a community center as a library for the Lower Mills and surrounding community. When we had to fight to keep it open, the neighborhood and local merchants were fighting for an invaluable and treasured community resource. We love the Boston Public Library Lower Mills Branch! This is an adorable branch of the Thomas Crane Library (Adams Shore)…read more The round building is picturesque and thanks to a new HVAC system it's cool in the summer. I love the windows and the round design. It's small, but my 1.5 year old daughter enjoys being the only kid in the children's section so she can hog all the toys and board books. ;-) The only problem is despite signs that say otherwise it is disabled inaccessible. There is no curbcut from the parking lot for wheelchair users to be able to get to the ramp. The ramp itself isn't smooth and is a tripping hazard even for the ambulatory. The bathroom is not large enough to use with a wheelchair. I was able to role my stroller in, but it's a tight fit in the book stacks. If you have a child that's still in diapers, ask the librarian for a diaper pad to use before using the restroom. There is no changing table available.
