I want to give a shout out to two really helpful Staff that made my time there seamless. The first one was SYDNEY, actually left the desk and guided me to the right location and used the equipment to get my project done since I was unfamiliar how to maneuver it! She directed me to another floor where another Staff member DUSTIN, guided and helped me complete project! I hope the Supervisors know how wonderful these two Staffers are! Thanks for all your help!

There are so many things to love about the Thomas Crane Public Library, that this review will…read morebecome a "listicle" style of review. So... without further adieu: - Library of Things: It's already amazing enough that libraries have books, movies, music, magazines, and other media. Thomas Crane also has an ample select of items that can be checked out: wellness and sport, hobby, tech, tools, home, and many more. - Green Space: There is a large outdoor area with a handful of benches and trees. Not enough to call it a mini-park, but enough to be noted, and great for reading or relaxing outside on a nice day. I think they have Wifi available outdoors, too. - Staff: everyone I've interacted with has been patient, friendly, and kind. - The Richardson Building: This is a wing of the library from 1882. The wood throughout, lighting fixtures, stained glass windows, all are from, or inspired, a different time. It is like a special, permanent exhibit in a museum, and something I loved to have in my local library when I lived in Quincy. - Common Space: I hold that libraries are one of the few public spaces where one can exist without spending money. While this isn't shopping mall, its not a bad place for someone to spend a few hours. - Cafe: I never bought food or coffee, but it's gratifying to have a cafe available in a space like this. - Bookstore: While as with the cafe I haven't bought any books, it's cool to have a dedicated space for buying books the library may want to sell for whatever reason. - Parking: need I say more? A lot with more than enough space for library patrons. I don't recall their ever not being a spot when I needed one. - Collections: While not as large as Boston Public Library, Thomas Crane has an impressive collection of materials and media. Everything is well organized too. There's even board and card games available to borrow. The one and only complaint I have is that some of the furniture, namely the carrells are a little worn.

There are also two silent study rooms that you can reserve as well. Also, the free wifi was a plus! This library had a children's area in the basement and the adult collection is located on the first and second floor. It's really neat how the place is a mix of old and new, with the new modern addition. With the large glass windows, you can really get a great view of the town!! The library staff were kind and helpful as well. A very enjoyable stop.

I am usually a huge fan of this library. I have lived in Hyde Park for 25 years, given a break when…read moreI served in the military. After returning back to Hyde Park I maintained residency in Hyde Park because I love this city. I am a full-time college student and a single parent of two. I love the children's floor they have and I am at the library a minimum of three times a week and for hours on end each visit. Today while reading and taking notes there was a young woman and man who I believe work here that were talking at the circulation desk. At this point I have been here for about 2 and a half hours and they have been there taking the while time. A woman walks in looking for a book she left here the night before. As it turns out she couldn't check the book out for whatever reason and the librarian on duty told her she would hold it for her for the next day. That specific librarian was on her lunch break and the younger woman "barely" looked for the book before she told the patron she couldn't find it. The patron seemed agitated not fully understanding the situation, in my opinion. The patron kept repeating, "she said she would eave it for me". The younger woman said she is on her lunch break come back in a hour and the patron repeated her previous statement. The younger woman then said, "well I don't know what to tell you I can't find it. She will be back in a hour from lunch come back then". As a social worker I was appalled by the treatment that this patron received at the library today. It appeared in my opinion that the patron may have had some cognitive delays and couldn't understand why they couldn't just reach out to the librarian in question and ask her where the book was. Without a second thought the younger woman went right back into her conversation while I sat at my computer in awe. This will not stop me from coming to this library but if I had a closer option for me and my children I would leave this branch and never look back.

The JFK Presidential Library is one of the most impressive, inspiring museums I've visited. JFK led…read morean extraordinary life, and the library does a remarkable job showing why he remains such a compelling and influential figure. Walking through the exhibits, you really feel the weight of an era when the presidency carried a different kind of dignity and aspiration. The way Kennedy spoke, what he stood for, and the sense of public service he embodied stand in stark contrast to the tone of modern politics. Visiting the library made me appreciate that difference even more. Trump has made the United States a laughing stock. I wish we could just erase Trump from existence. The museum itself is beautifully designed, bright, and right on the water -- an amazing setting. The core exhibits are informative, moving, and very well curated. I especially loved the special exhibit on presidential pets, which added a fun and charming touch. Overall, the JFK Library is fascinating, inspiring, and absolutely worth the trip. Highly recommended.

Great museum both for its content and its architecture. I went after there was some reconstruction,…read moreso it was free entry, but it's definitely worth it to come for the entry fee. There is a fairly large parking lot, and it's right on the water which is scenic. It's a very thorough exhibit from a movie talking about JFK's early life, then the exhibits from his marriage, the election, life in the White House, the Cuban missile crisis, and then his unfortunate assassination and the aftermath. The information was well laid out and displayed, so it took a couple of hours to get through and leave in a pensive mood. Well, until I went to the Presidential Pets exhibit which lightened the mood. Well played! There are also a decent gift shop and a cafe on site. It was a great presentation and well worth visiting.

This is my favorite library. I just love it, and visit at least twice a month…read more Pros: -10 cents per print - Mac computers (Yes, Dedham libraries have Apple Computers.... So much better than the average PC's at every other library) - Printers that state of the art, and double-side paper! - Never crowded - Cool coupon bin "take a coupon, leave a coupon" - Organized and clean library - Decent variety of DVD's - Decent variety of books, that doesn't make it impossible to find something - For a branch, more than generous hours: Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri and Sat 10-5 and Tuesday 1-9. - Friendly, helpful staff, who are always around and always friendly! (especially Lisa and Pam) - Great atmosphere for the community. I see a lot of the same people, and especially in the senior community, this place gives seniors a great place to go on a regular basis. Love the frequency of the same people who use this place. Cons: Literally NONE. This is a great find in Dedham for anyone in the area to enjoy. Normally I don't say to go out of your way to go somewhere, but I prefer this over my local library by 1000% (the Westwood Library is so bad!). Highly suggested for a Minuteman Library in the Dedham area. Hopefully, Dedham always keeps their branch open, it is such a great and convenient stop. 5 stars for life. Love this place.
