What an amazing find!!! With the overwhelming number of yoga studios in the area, many of which are…read moregood, this one goes above and beyond. The donation-based system is innovative and really great, because it opens this studio and its practice up to anyone in the community. Every teacher I have encountered has been *delightful*, and 3 times a week they offer beach yoga---can't say enough good things!!! The studio is blissful; lots of nice things in the entrance and main area to check out, 2 peaceful studios, clean, and open-air wafting in to keep it fresh. Restrooms available, kitchen-y area with local vendors coming by from time to time to share their treats with us, and really great yoga classes for beginners and experts alike. Do yourself a favor; come on in!! They have converted an absolute anti-yoga family member through their beach yoga, so start off there if you're in doubt!

Love the aesthetic they've created behind such a busy road. I appreciated the open bay door AND outdoor pallets for people who want to practice under the sun and shade. The owner and the instructor were both really welcoming and put all of us 1st-time visitors at ease. The place is clean, and Danice (yogi) emphasized that all their materials are sanitized. They've got the floor taped off for spacing, and of course it smells calming and peaceful throughout. It's not a big studio, so I'm curious if spots fill up in most classes. I will be back! They have a website to reserve a spot and pay in advance. They may be on the more pricey side, but I honestly have no comparison.

I have always wanted to try a sensory deprivation tank as I really love to float when I'm in pools…read moreor the ocean. The way your ears are below the water and so much noise disappears... I feel so happy in that context. Well here was my chance! Located in the relatively new Alton Town Center in P.B. Gardens, True Rest is quite inviting once you walk inside. You're led to a room with recliners (including ottomans) to watch a video on floating, including the potential benefits and how to position yourself in the tank. Then it's off to your room where the magic happens! A quick shower to make sure you rinse off any lotion or deodorant and insertion of the free earplugs (not great -- I'd bring my own next time) and you're ready to get in. Meditation-type music is played for 10 minutes at the start, but then shuts off. You can choose total darkness or colored lights (as you'll see in my photo). I went with darkness, and it was really cool. I came close to sleep and felt totally calm and relaxed -- after the first 10-15 minutes when I forced myself to stop thinking about errands or my ex boyfriend, neither of which was worth ruining my float time. I could have sworn my body from the torso up was lying on a firm surface. I guess that's what a ton of Epsom salts does for you. When there's five minutes left the music begins again to let you know. Then out of the tank to a hot shower and shampoo if you wish (there's a hairdryer in the bathroom if you want it). All in all it was lovely. My friend highly enjoyed his experience also and told me the next morning how well he slept and relaxed he felt. The spa sells packages that include use of the flavored oxygen after the float. You can sit in a room on a sofa and drink a complimentary water bottle and inhale ginger, spearmint, or lavender oxygen. Great experience!!!

The entire experience was incredibly relaxing, and I definitely felt muscle recovery afterward. The staff was amazing--so welcoming and knowledgeable, making sure I was comfortable the entire time. If you're into fitness and recovery, I highly recommend this. Plus, it would make such a unique and thoughtful date idea for Valentine's Day!
