Got my fourth tattoo here today! It turned out beautiful and Chloe, the tattoo artist, did a phenomenal job! This is my most meaningful tattoo so I wanted it to look amazing and it does! If I'm unhappy with anything, like the shading, Chloe said I could go back in a couple of weeks and she would touch it up for me! Thank you so much Chloe. Clean shop, nice people and comfortable environment! read more

Took my (underage) daughter and some of her friends in today for piercings. We waited over an hour (the piercer's were really busy that day - not the tattoo artist ) and they wouldn't let me use the restroom. The owner said it was for customers only. Even tho I was the one paying and I was there as a minors adult guardian. I was about to drop $300 on piercings at a place that values and respects its customers so well that they wouldn't even let them use the restroom. After waiting over an hour! Pathetic. Don't waste your time or money. There are over 1 million tattoo shops in San Diego that do just as good of a job, but actually treat their customers with respect. Fucking joke of a shop. read more

I got 2 new tattoos this week and both are excellent. One is a banjo. Friends are amazed at the clean strait lines and perfect round drum. The rosary beads on my arm appear 3D. Arianna did focused beautiful art and Josh showed subtle mentoring with suggestions on placement so that the final product is better than my original vision. read more

My daughter, sis in law, and I have gotten piercings here -- and my daughter got her first tattoo here. Wonderful customer service, professional artists. We'll be back and we'll recommend the place to others. read more

This was my first time going into the Transcendence Tattoo shop, and I was pleasantly surprised! My first impression was how bright and clean the shop looks and feels; very different from most tattoo shops. Everyone that works there is friendly and helpful, including the shop owner, Josh. I had a very meaningful tattoo designed personally for me by one of their artists, Eva. She drew up a tattoo that was exactly what I wanted and took her time to make sure I was completely happy with it. The level of professionalism and cleanliness was very impressive, along with all the details put into the process and making sure I was comfortable throughout. I'm already thinking about getting another tattoo in the near future because of how great my experience was at Transcendence, and I will definitely be booking my next appointment with Eva again! read more

Chad gave me a memorial tattoo with the cleanest lines I've ever seen (and by far the best one on my body). Let me vent and also use my session as a two in one therapy session as well! Owner is amazing, sweetest people I've ever met and you can even use the bathroom here without worrying about contracting a disease! Can't wait to come back for some more work, thanks guys! read more

The wonderful people that work at transcendent Tattoo were all amazing. Very welcoming and friendly. It's always a little nerve racking getting a piercing or tattoo, but their professionalism and great sense of humor put me at ease immediately. First of all, This is the cleanest shop I have ever been in. I really liked how bright the atmosphere was. Chad is so personable and professional. He really makes you feel right at home and comfortable. I wanted a cover up of something done on my index finger and wasn't sure how it would turn out. It has gone above and beyond my expectations. And is healing beautifully. Will absolutely be working with him again. 10/10 recommend. read more

Came in here last minute around 8pm to see if they'd do a walk in. I knew it was late so I understood if they didn't take me in but the owner was really cool about it and took me in! Showed him a picture and Josh really did a great job and did exactly what I asked for! I had wanted to cover up some scars from the past and wanted to cover up 2 of the really noticeable ones. His placement of the tattoo was dead on and loved it. The place is extremely clean. You can tell by the moment you step inside by the sterile smell. The energy from not only the owner but the employees are really welcoming and down to earth. Besides the tattoo, I had a fun time talking and joking around with everyone. read more

I got another tattoo this weekend and couldn't be happier! 2nd tattoo, first one at this studio. The studio is super clean and neat. Everyone who works there is nice and welcoming. Autumn did my tattoo and made me feel comfortable throughout the process. Let me tell you, getting a rib tattoo isn't as bad as what people say. Yes, some parts hurt, but not nearly as bad as I thought. It just felt like someone cutting me, which is essentially what she was doing. I highly recommend coming here. I will be returning when/if I decide to get another tattoo! read more

Can't wait to get my next one! Josh R is super professional and his artistic talent is above par!

O. M. G. I LOVE this shop!!! Not only was it clean it was IMMACULATE (not that all shops aren't right now anyway because of COVID). However I have a hunch it is always this way. Kat did my piercings and she was A-FUCKING-MAZINGAZING. I also had a semi consult with a rad tattoo artist, Josh, about covering up a horrendous tattoo I had done years ago (by someone else) and he too was so rad. So informative, kind & crazy knowledgeable. I can not say enough good things about this shop! Weather piercing, tattooing or both, this is the spot!!thank you to both Kat & Josh, you guys are both amazing! I'm so happy happy to have found you guys and would recommend ANYONE to go here if you're wanting any kind of body art/ modifications. 100% will be back for my cover up next. MIND BLOWN!!!!! Tattoo artist was very kind a personable but I was never told I was getting tattooed by an apprentice. Not once was that ever mentioned. They did tell me their age only after they had started tattooing. Too late to go back at that point. Lines are crooked and the tattoo is lopsided. I will probably not be coming back and now have to deal with getting it fixed or removed. read more

All of my roommates and I come to this shop and we never regret it! Not only is the staff super funny and constantly making sure we have a great time, but they also have given us countless great tattoos. I personally get all of my tattoos from Autumn- she does great thin line tattoos, and great tattoos (I'm obsessed with the anime ones that we are planning)- but my roommates have gotten tattoos from Watana as well. We are never disappointed. This is a great place to stop by if you want to get a tattoo! read more

Transcendence Tattoo is warm and inviting as well as clean (which is just as important as the first 2!). I've had 3 tattoos done there and just sent my son there for his first tattoo, so you know I trust them! The owner, Josh, is friendly and knowledgeable in the industry and immediately makes you feel at ease. He's mindful of the artists and staff he brings in. I've seen their piercing, it's not my thing, but they do great work as my friend just had some piercing along with both her girls. I'm super happy to recommend Transcendence Tattoo! read more

Josh is an excellent artist and owner of this location. I spoke with him in person about what I wanted and he gave me exactly that. He was very encouraging in regards to style and placement of my first pair of tattoos. Definitely going to make another appointment with him in the future. This facility is incredibly clean and has a very welcoming atmosphere. If there's a safe place to get ink it's going to be here. Thanks again Josh! read more

Went in to get my tragus pierced, called before hand and seemed fine so far. I get there fill out paper work, follow the piercer back to the room and he was setting up his station talking to me and he was cool. Until he stuck the needle in my ear, pauses called back his mentor because he never did that piercing before and that's when I found out he was an apprentice. I then lay there in pain with the new guy and the mentor panicking and teaching him how to pierce my ear. I was in pain during the 5 mins both of the guys were trying to pierce my ear and they only gave me $5 off. Never going back. I now ask for a piercer whose been doing his job for over 10 years because of that experience. read more

my best friend and i decided spontaneously to get new ear piercings together. this place accepts walk ins, and the prices weren't bad. we were pierced by Kat, who made the entire experience really calming. she called herself a gentle piercer, which sounds like an oxymoron to me, but she was not lying. the whole process was over fast. we got them done a month or so ago and havent had problems since. thank you kat ! the only thing is that you have to pay with cash. read more

After struggling to find a tattoo shop that would pierce my 2.5 year old's ears, I came across Transcendence. On the phone, Josh agreed and was able to get us in later that day. The shop was clean and after a quick check in, we went back to the piercing room. Josh was fast and there were no tears. My daughter was very happy. We went home with an easy cleaning spray and the ears have healed nicely! read more

I got my very first tattoo here and it was the best experience I have had in a tattoo shop (I've gotten piercings). The staff was very well experienced and knew exactly what I wanted and how to accomplish it! I also had the opportunity to get my tongue pierced during this visit by their pierced Kat, piercings also exceptionally well done and painless!! Flew in from Texas specifically to get tattoo'd here. Extremely clean and professional. Josh is the best. Nowhere I'd rather go.

Josh R. is an amazing artist. He has been tattooing me for years. He thrives on having the highest of standards when it comes to being sterile and clean, honestly his shop is cleaner than most doctor's offices. I am comfortable with given him a vision of what I want for my next piece and letting him bring it to life. I trust this man with my skin and my health. He has always taught me to hold your tattoo artist to high standards and he is a great example of that. read more

My daughter has wanted her ears pierced for a while. Nothing crazy, just a regular ear lobe piercing. After doing research, I knew it had to be done at a tattoo and piercing parlor. So happy we found Transcendence Tattoo and Josh R. Josh and his staff made us feel right at home. When we went back to the piercing room, Josh explained every step and made sure we were comfortable with continuing. The set up for the piercing was very sterile and super clean. upon arrival the staff were all super nice and welcoming! however, the owner made the experience super uncomfortable with constant inappropriate comments. without going into specifics, he was extremely sexual in his remarks and it overall made for a disappointing visit. the other artists/piercers were genuinely kind and did an amazing job. if you are looking at going here, go to anyone but josh. read more
