Props to Recon Tattoos for dealing with an extremely nervous client! I came here with my husband, his brother and his father - they wanted to get matching tattoos.. well, my husband and his dad did.. but the brother in law, not so much (his first tattoo). Anyway, after hours of convincing, we were finally ready. We walked into the tattoo shop and the artist said we had to come back in an hour because he had just mopped the floor and it had to dry. Kindof weird but since we live down the road it wasn't really a big deal.. (If we didn't live in the area we probably wouldn't have come back). We came back and the artist ( I think it was Shawn ) was done mopping and ready.. The tattoo was pretty simple, just their last name on the inner bicep. The lines were clean and the work was nice, I'm not sure how he does with bigger pieces but the lettering was pretty much perfect. It took a lot of drama and more convincing to get the bro-in-law into the table and inked up but it finally happened. The shop was clean (freshly mopped floors) and I would definitely go back, maybe next time I'll get one! read more

This shop is not interested in any new business!! They do not answer the phone and if you do go down there in person and get an appointment chances are they will cancel on you a few minutes before the appointment. I called this shop about 8 times and left 4 messages that i was interested in getting a large piece and would like a price quote. I finally drove over to the shop and spoke to Shawn while he was locking the store up early to head home for the night to be with the wife and kids. Shawn set me up with an appointment for the next day. When i arrived at the shop for my appointment i was informed that Shawn was baby sitting the kids in the tatto parlor and would not be able to tatto that day. Of course i was looking forward to my appointment and was really let down that Shawn cancelled on me when i arrived for my appointment. (A call would have been nice since he had my contact number.) I left the shop and continued to look for another shop that wanted to make some money since we are talking about multiple hours that would add up to $800-1000 once the entire piece was complete. What really concerned me when I was searching the web on Tatto history for Sean I noticed he has a (GO FUND ME PAGE) where he is asking people for donations to help with medical bills and to take care of his family. I'm all for helping people during hard times. It's just sad Sean would rather take hand outs VS WORKING for money to support his family. I highly recommend LIL C TATTOO SHOP IN FALLBROOK. I received excellent customer service in a very clean relaxed studio. Save yourself the hassle and disappointment dealing with Recon tattoo. Just keep driving a few streets down and GO SEE LIL C for his excellent tattooing skills and an awesome vintage tattoo parlor that is very clean and fun to be tattooed at! read more

Let me start by saying that I am not easily pleased as a customer. I nit pick everything and I am always skeptical. Recon tattoo is EXCELLENT!!! I never had a doubt in my mind as to their talent, dedication, cleanliness and attention to detail. Let me start at the beginning: I had some work done previously, it was a mess. I have been searching for an artist that I could work with to fix it and add to my collection of tattoo artwork. I called Bill and got in the next day. He not only fixed my tattoos, he made them a masterpiece! The work is impeccable! Every line straight, every point of a flame pristine. The shop is CLEAN. Bill is extremely mindful of sanitation protocol and practices. My husband has been anti tattoo and skeptical, and even he got his first tattoo here. No regrets, he loves it! It looks as though it was stamped on. Bill is truly a masterful artist and superb with a tattoo gun. My husband and I were there in the chair for a total of 6 hours. I appreciated my experience so much that I actually prepaid for 8 extra hours of tattoo work so that I could come back at a moments notice. If you need a tattoo, this is the place to get it. During the week it seems slower and easier to get in for an appointment, He opened the shop for me to meet with him so flexibility is definitely an option. We wanted something we saw online and ours definitely don't look anywhere near to as great. After reading through several online reviews, I contacted Recon to set up an appointment. I sent the artist ideas of what I wanted for a tattoo. The artist had something drawn up the day of my appointment and agreed to his drawing. The artist was so heavy handed, my ankles were covered in blood and I merely passed out during the session (I have multiple tattoos in different locations all over my body). It should have taken at least 2 hours for this session however, it ended up being shy of 1 hr. The artist tattooed right through one of my other tattoos and I didn't realize it until it was too late. I went back to Recon a few days later to tell them I was not satisfied with the outcome. The ink already faded (looks like it's years old) and the lines were completely uneven too. The artist I had was with a client and out of respect I asked to speak to another artist outside to explain the situation. The artist told me it's hard to tattoo straight lines on ankles (which is ridiculous). They didn't offer a refund, only to touch up their mistake. I was not going to go back to a place that didn't make me sign a waiver, check my license, or open the needle in front of me. I had to go to another artist at a different location to have one of my ankles fixed. So this $200 tattoo has turned into a $600 tattoo. I still have to get my other ankle fixed. what everyone else said. these guys are as good as it gets! I've had the pleasure of having Bill tattoo my sides for me. both were sizeable pieces and the detail was delicate. Bill nailed the tattoo and (with my permission) put in his own twist to the piece which made it look even better! it took a little longer than anticipated, but the piece came out perfect, healed quick, and looks like it doesn't need much (if any) touching up. definitely coming back for more. read more
