Hunter was fantastic. Incredibly patient with my family coming in New Years Eve, all having our first tattoo experience. The consultation was so helpful, then amazing service the same day. He really went above and beyond, and I/we will absolutely refer friends to see him, as well as return to him for future artwork. First time here on a Saturday for a "walk-in", simple peach for bridge application. I was waited on quickly and pleasantly. I was given an estimate of 250.00-300.00, cash In the end it was 300.00. Beautiful job done by Toni M. Very sweet and gentle artist. I love the piece!! Definitely will be back. One star off, only because I over heard talk of payment with credit card to other customers. I thought my tattoo touchup was long overdue (I got the original tattoo 5 or so years ago by another artist), so I gave them a call and came in same day. Got not only a touchup but a revamp and added color as well. Gorgeous work. My artist was Hunter and he is absolutely an amazing person. I felt a little queasy and lightheaded at the beginning and he was so nice and patient about taking a long break and they brought me cold water, tic tacs and even the woman who ran the front desk that day went and got me a candy bar. They also have a cool numbing spray I never experienced at shops in Washington & Illinois that made the rest of it almost painless. I was amazed by how well he cleaned up the lines that bled out pretty bad, and the addition of color makes it look better than the day I got it! I didn't have an appointment but I was lucky that Kirk was available. I told him what I wanted, asked him a quick question (which he answered to my satisfaction) and he then took the time to draw it up and get me ready for my new tat. This is my second tattoo done by this shop (first one was done by Doc who is also an amazing artist) and the pricing and the work are top notch! Like with many things in life - good tattoos are not cheap and cheap tattoos are not good. The tattoo came out wonderfully (see pic) but please keep in mind that I took this picture with my front facing camera on my forearm. Great customer service from beginning to end. Started with a phone call to see if they would take walk-ins, especially important since I was only in town for a few days. The young woman (forgot to get her name) who answered the call was very courteous and said they would do their best to accommodate me. When o arrived, they were able to get me in. I showed the design I wanted drawn up. My piece wasn't very complicated nor large. John was friendly but not overly chatty, stating he prefers not to talk while working which was fine by me! His work was meticulous, and his space was very clean. And the whole shop looked very well taken care of. When I was done, I was told touch ups are free if I every need it. I've been going to Sarah Spinks since 2009, and I haven't let anyone else touch me since I discovered her. Clean, sanitary, professional. Great linework. Beautiful tattoos. Such a great little tattoo shop, quality work without having to drive to downtown SD! I had a tattoo that I had waited 10 years to get covered-up. I went to many different artists and no one gave me confidence for getting it taken care of. Many artists wanted to enhance the tattoo and discouraged me from getting it covered up., even though I would have rathered a cover up.After much research I spoke with Sarah and she was on board with my vision and did an amazing job at giving me a beautiful tattoo that I want to show off! Looking back, we should have paid more attention to the red flags, but we were excited, as we'd been planning these tattoos for two years (she lives 3,000 miles away so we don't see each other much). Because we didn't have an appointment, we were assigned an artist named Jason, who wasn't even listed on the shop's website and had no portfolio available. We assumed it would be fine since our designs were so simple, my sister's was a small 4-inch tattoo on her inner wrist, and mine was a six‑word handwritten sentence on my arm. Before starting, Jason stepped outside to grab his tattoo equipment from his car. That was the first sign something was off. Before coming back inside, he took a cigarette break, and came back smelling heavily of cigarette smoke. Once we were in the room, it was obvious his hands were quite shaky. My sister went first, and her tattoo took about fifteen minutes. When he finished, he folded up a paper towel, not a sterile pad, just the same roll he'd been using to wipe ink, and placed it over her tattoo. Then he wrapped blue painter's tape around it. Not sterile, medical tape of any kind, painter tape that came straight out of his backpack. When it was my turn, he needed six attempts to place the stencil straight, and each time he repositioned it, he didn't bother wiping off the previous placement. My tattoo took under 10 minutes, and afterwards he covered it with the same paper towel and painter's tape setup. As we were leaving, I realized we hadn't signed any consent forms or waivers. When I brought it up, he brushed it off and said it wasn't necessary. For payment, he insisted on cash and pointed to an ATM, even though the website clearly states they accept credit cards. I paid with my credit card since I hadn't brought cash or debit, but he seemed irritated that I didn't use cash. When we got home and I removed the paper towel, I immediately noticed that my tattoo didn't match the handwriting sample I provided. It was supposed to be my late mother's handwriting, and the final result doesn't resemble her writing at all. I understand it wouldn't be perfect, but all he had to do was trace the stencil. Needless to say, my sister and I are both very dissatisfied with the experience. I'm sure the outcome would have been very different with another artist, but it is ultimately the shop owner's responsibility to ensure that all employees follow proper safety practices, maintain hygienic standards, and use sterile equipment.

Jordan Nelson did an amazing job today, and not only provided a beautiful piece of art, but corrected a piece I had previously from a not-so-professional artist. This piece was worth every penny, my husband had even stopped by during the process and immediately knew he'd be booking shortly after me. You can't beat quality like this, and this shop is a rare gem that specializes in ALL tattoo styles. Jordan himself has 18 years of experience in all kinds of tattoo designs and was extremely informative and kind, not only does he tell you everything you need to know, but he explains the "why" behind it all. In my case, scheduling was one of the first positive impressions he made on my experience- he worked with me and my schedule as a stay at home mom and came in on his own off day just to work on my piece! I never received the design. On the day of the appointment, I showed up. Skye did not. She canceled last minute and asked to reschedule. Because I am deploying soon with the military, rescheduling was not an option. I explained this calmly and requested a refund, since the artist failed to show up. Skye initially said she would send it, then completely stopped responding. What frustrates me most is the lack of accountability. A deposit should not be kept when no service is provided and the artist is the one who cancels. Being ignored afterward made the situation even worse. This was handled very poorly, and I can't recommend booking with Skye based on my experience.

The jewelry selection is awesome and extensive, but it is all BVLA which is best in class and priced as such. No single stud was rly less than $180, so be prepared to spend at least around $200 for any one earring. Our teen felt comfortable with Lily and it went so smoothly!

Truthfully, I would give American Tattoo an 42,000,000 star rating if it was allowed. I have been going to American Tattoo for a couple of years now and they are the absolute best tattoo shop I have ever gone to. The first tattoo I got was of a sword on my forearm and it was done by Blake. I am super proud of that piece and have had many people tell me how awesome it looks. After that I got a sword on my other forearm and that one was done by Hunter. That particular sword was very important to me as it is the main weapon a character uses in some books I have written. I had a very specific design and Hunter nailed it perfectly! I have gone back many times and Hunter is my permanent Tattoo artist now. He is a super cool dude and so very accommodating. Any time I ask for a change to a design he does it and never gets bothered. I've had many tattoos done by him and its at a point now where we have gotten to know each other a little and we always ask each other how life is, hows the wife and kids are, etc. I really appreciate that kind of stuff. He remembers things I have told him about things going on with me and and he asks how certain things are going. I mean, that is some cool stuff! To be clear I didnt swith to having Hunter tattoo me because Blake did something wrong. Blake is great and does amazing work. He did the first sword I got there and it is amazing! It just so happens that one particular day Hunter was available and I really enjoyed his work and talking with him and such, so he is the one who I go to now. Overall, American Tattoo is an amazing enviroment. The ladies up front who help get you checked in are so friendly and very helpful. This place is the place to go if you ask me. I can see why this tattoo shop has such amazing reviews. Just got done getting my third tattoo (third overall but first tattoo done here) by Sam and I am BEYOND impressed. It turned out a hundred times better than I thought it would. Not to mention the design I wanted was very detailed and intricate AND in a very sensitive area (under the arm). Sam made me feel extremely comfortable (I was nervous and dreading the pain from this one). I also greatly appreciated that when I arrived for my appointment he had my drawing ready to go. My last tattoo the guy made me wait literally three hours past my appointment time (hence why I'm not going to him anymore). When I explained to Sam where I wanted to place my tattoo he tweaked his drawing a bit so it would fit! Sam is a true master of his craft and was super meticulous making sure he got the piece just right and how I wanted. Everyone who works here seems super cool. Tony (the sweet girl who booked my Appt) was really nice to talk to on the phone and was really patient when answering all my questions. You need someone like that when booking a tattoo Appt especially if you're nervous and it's your first one. I also got to chat with another artist named Sarah who also was really cool to talk to. I was a walk in today with a special request for a tattoo on the inside of my left forearm but I wasn't totally sure what I wanted for the design. I only had a few photos saved and my kids' names. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed and the shop was clean and open. It was clear they had taken many precautions due to COVID. It didn't take long before I was talking to an artist (Micah) who was extremely patient in helping me come to a decision on what I really wanted for this tattoo. He was able to integrate every element I wanted, keep it the size I wanted, keep my son's full name (Benjamin vs shortening to Ben) and added some shadowing that went above and beyond. I waited a very short time and was welcomed back. We worked on placement and he went to work. I think it took less than 45 minutes to complete. I could not be happier with the end result. He captured my kids' names in a cursive that I love and is 100% legible, made the heart infinity ribbon with just the right angles, and blended the colors beautifully to signify that I beat cancer this year. It is incredibly special to me! Micah's artistic talent, kindness, patience, and professionalism has my highest regard. I was referred to Micah at American Tattoo by a friend who had a lot of tattoos done by him in the past. I was really impressed with his work and this was my first tattoo. I did the design on my tattoo myself because it was a unique text design that I kinda made up over time. I met with Micah twice before going in for the actual tattoo. He sat down with me and reviewed what I had created and gave me a lot of advice on things that do and don't work well when transferring an image from paper to your skin, so I would get the best look and best longevity out of it. In the end it really made the difference. The detail was amazing and far better then I thought possible for a tattoo. I gotta say Micah went the extra mile in making sure the final look was right. I had a lot of fine lines in the font I used but Micah was able to get the details spot on. I would recommend American Tattoo and Micah to anyone. The shop was impeccably clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I'll defiantly be returning for another. My wife is next, we are working on a design for her now and looking forward to it. I wanted to give myself a gift of a new tattoo for my recent birthday. I came in and didn't have an appointment but was lucky enough that Micah was able to see me later that day. I am so so happy with my tattoo it came out better than I pictured in my head. I got Pocahontas's armband that had spikes going down my arm, Micah had a lot of attention to detail to make sure that they were straight. I laid down and stood up multiple times to make sure everything looked good, which I super appreciated him triple checking his work to make sure I had a good tattoo. I found out that day, that this shop was celebrating its 15yr anniversary. I can see why they've been in business for so long, they're awesome! I love this shop. I started going to the original shop in Bonsall over four years ago and have switched over to the Vista shop as they made the move. I discovered Artoo and have not let anyone else touch my arm. He has done every tattoo of mine over the years (as I almost have a full-sleeve) and I could not be happier with not only the way he draws and attends to exactly what I want, the cleanliness, but also his overall demeanor. Additionally, he is super attentive when it comes to appointments and spends the time drawing and sizing it to my body. He pays careful attention to the way the tattoo will flow onto my body and move in a particular way. I have received multiple compliments on my tattoos and they continue to heal beautifully. I must admit, at first I was shocked by the hourly rate, however I realized very quickly how WORTH IT, it IS. I'm not very creative nor am I an artist, so when I went in for a consult I was looking for ideas on how to "clean up" an already started sleeve. Micah made me feel like it was an easy fix, gave me his email and suggested I send him "ideas" of what I was looking for. I made an appointment and sent "ideas" of what I was looking for. The day of my appointment I came in to, 2 "amazing" examples of a fully drawn out, ready to place on my arm, art work. He is extremely creative, a true artist. And the best part is, I felt like it was all my idea, when in reality, I could not of created anything near what I am getting. I only have 2 tattoos. Both of them I got at American tattoo. For my first, understandably, I was very nervous but excited, and was lucky enough to end up with Micah as my tattoo artist. He was very calm and helpful, and the environment as a whole seemed very clean and sterile, which helped my nerves as well. Every chance I've gotten, I've recommended him to people. For my second tattoo, I got Kirk! He seems a bit younger but he was very talented and even more patient. It was a simple tattoo he did, but for me, it had to be just right, and he took time to make sure to do exactly what I requested. He was very, very patient, which I appreciated greatly. This was my first tattoo, I am 63. I was a tiny bit worried about the whole process but the place was super cool. There were a couple others there getting work also. All I can say is they are GREAT. Sorry I do not remember the artist (late twenties, tall and long braids), very nice young man! But the place is very neat, clean, and SUPER professional. It did not hurt, too much, a small tattoo on my right arm. It just all went perfect. He asked what I wanted, took my sketch and made it nice, put an outline on my arm and had me check, did some work then stopped to make sure i was OK. A friend of mine suggested I go to Hunter for my tattoo. I was not disappointed. He was able to get me in within 24 hours of my initial visit to the studio. My tattoo is very personal: my husband passed away a little over a year ago and needless to say, I miss him more than I ever thought possible. I decided to have his signature tattooed on the inside of my left wrist. While it is very small, plain and unobtrusive, it is everything to me. Last Saturday- September 25th, Bobby took my husband and I on a walk-in. He did a 'black panther fighting a snake' piece on my husbands forearm and a 'quote' down my spine. We both are soooo in love with them! What I love about Bobby is he is quality over all. He communicates very well, and let us set the pace. This was my first tattoo so, naturally, I was super nervous and anxious about choosing the correct shop for me. So glad I went to this one. The whole experience was easy and pleasant. I got a 3inch dragon on the front of my stomach/hipbone done by Artoo. He did an amazing job at making sure I felt comfortable, and deserves great recognition for dealing with me tensing and moving, which I'm sure is difficult/annoying to do. I went to Jon "Artoo" Sajonas for my latest tattoo, it was a fantastic experience! He's so easy to talk to and really brought my vision to life while honoring the original artist's intentions. Jon is a true artist. While not entirely relevant to the quality of my tattoo- the new (newish?) shop in Vista is so well done, I loved all their decor details and they played great music. It was truly a nice place to spend a couple hours, as opposed to the cramped "man-cave-esque" style shops I've visited in the past. It was my first time working with Jon aka Artoo. We met up to go over what I was looking for. I had gotten a crane tattoo done several weeks prior and I was not happy with how it came out. He listened, made key suggestions, and defined what I wanted. At the tattoo appointment, he could tell I wasn't stoked on the peonies stencil he drew, so he took the time to redraw them. Another great experience and great tattoo today from Sarah. She quickly understood what I was trying to express to her with a few pictures I brought (this part of this pic and this part of that pic but this color and so forth) and said give me a minute and I'll draw something up. I've been to all the shops around north county and American is by far the best shop I know of. Their customer service is excellent. Every single person that works there is always happy to be there and see what's going on with each tattoo being done. I've had my half sleeve done by Artoo, and every time I come in he is always excited to see how the rest has healed and what else he can do for me. Very impressed with the artists at this shop. Everybody, including the guy on the phone and at the front desk was incredibly polite, outgoing and respectful. I immediately felt at home. I've had my fair share of tattoos being active duty military. Some on deployments, some stationed…read moreoverseas and some in the states. But I don't think any tattoo I have gotten compares to Hiro's. I hadn't planned on getting this piece done for a long time because the empty space on my forearm had been a problem. The space was small, the many and different designs I asked for was always "too detailed" or "impossible" for other artists. So I've been really lagging on getting the space filled in because I care about what I put on my body. I was on the verge of believing that maybe these artists were right and that I had to go for something more simple. But Hiro changed that. & he told me that there was no excuse for why other artists couldn't do it. He didn't make me feel bad for asking for something unique or for the design being "too much." He made me feel like it was easy to make happen and showed me that it wasn't about limitations. You can tell that he is precise, skilled, and confident when tattooing. He proved to me that there was always a way to make it happen--if you do it right. He does a lot of traditional Japanese tattoos and the fine line work he does is very surprising. I don't understand how he was able to put so much detail on a small space LMAO. It's almost microscopic! The healing process surprised me. Not a single blowout, no excessive bleeding during or after (in fact, I'd barely bled at all LOL). He was not heavy handed, I barely even felt the needle and it was almost painless. Even during the session he would always check in with me and ask me if I needed a break or if I was doing alright. To me, that speaks a lot because it showed me he cares about his clients well being during the session. I am more than happy and satisfied with his work, and I recommend anyone to go see Hiro. The shop overall was very welcoming and friendly. There's a bunch of other talented artists there that care about their craftsmanship as well. And I couldn't believe how reasonable their prices were, considering the care and quality of the work they gave. I have gotten other tattoos for a more expensive price with horrible quality. These people at Frosty's Tattoo Studio are not lazy and will get you right. Im sure this shop is newer and not a lot of people know about it yet. Please give this place a visit, they deserve the attention. I will be adding a photo of my tattoo in this review. It is still unfinished, and I will post another review of it in the future when it is completed. But take a look at how it came out and how it has healed so far. I will be going back to Hiro to finish the shading and add the unfinished details on my tattoo soon. & I will more than likely have Hiro do all my future tattoos from now on.
