This review is long overdue. For years I wanted a tattoo but wasn't sure what I wanted to get and…read moreif I would like having something on me for life. I had an epiphany over a few events that happened in my life these past couple years and decided it was time. A friend of mine referred me to Sergio. I had in mind what I wanted. I went and saw him and showed him the design. I made an appointment got my tattoo and have been back five more times since that time from a couple years ago. I really like his work and he has not let me down on all the tattoos I've gotten from him and I want to get a couple more. I really like his specialties in work and they remind me of my time in the South Pacific and time at Pearl Harbor. I also like the shop it is a really cool place with a fantastic atmosphere. Just went and saw Sergio again for a little more ink last week. Sergio's artistic works are stellar, I am so glad I was introduced to this shop.

Maybe don't go here for fine line... My sister and I were…read morecharged 400$ for 4 small fine line tattoos. A total of 9 words, 4 numbers and 4 small hearts between the two of us. 30 minutes total of the actual tattooing between both of us. The lines are inconsistent with a few gaps on some of the cursive letters. I've been told by multiple that we were taken advantage of concerning the price, sorta bummed and won't be coming back :/ Yes we could have said no to the quote, but we communicated and they knew that was our first tattoos. We came in for a walk-in, which they recommended, while knowing nothing about pricing hence why we didn't know we were being overcharged. I wonder if had the owner been working that day if he would have done the same. And I hope this instance isn't an accurate representation of 454 Tattoo. I wouldn't want other young and naive folks experiencing the same that we did.

This is genuinely the BEST tattoo shop I've been to, and I've gotten tattoos from a wide array of…read moreplaces... from in-home tattoos on Camp Pendleton, to shops across the states, and this shop takes the cake! Jordan Nelson did an amazing job today, and not only provided a beautiful piece of art, but corrected a piece I had previously from a not-so-professional artist. This piece was worth every penny, my husband had even stopped by during the process and immediately knew he'd be booking shortly after me. You can't beat quality like this, and this shop is a rare gem that specializes in ALL tattoo styles. Jordan himself has 18 years of experience in all kinds of tattoo designs and was extremely informative and kind, not only does he tell you everything you need to know, but he explains the "why" behind it all. In my case, scheduling was one of the first positive impressions he made on my experience- he worked with me and my schedule as a stay at home mom and came in on his own off day just to work on my piece! I could rave about this place forever, so I'll leave it with this- if you're looking for a positive experience and quality work, this is the place.

This experience left me upset and disappointed…read more I booked a tattoo appointment with Skye, paid a deposit, and asked for the design in advance because this tattoo had deep personal meaning. I never received the design. On the day of the appointment, I showed up. Skye did not. She canceled last minute and asked to reschedule. Because I am deploying soon with the military, rescheduling was not an option. I explained this calmly and requested a refund, since the artist failed to show up. Skye initially said she would send it, then completely stopped responding. What frustrates me most is the lack of accountability. A deposit should not be kept when no service is provided and the artist is the one who cancels. Being ignored afterward made the situation even worse. This was handled very poorly, and I can't recommend booking with Skye based on my experience.

She did it so tight it's been cutting off the circulation in my ear. I had it fixed at another shop and the guy was shocked she let me leave the shop like that. It's been over an hour I got two studs in to let it heal. He had to cut them off with pliers it was so tight. I hardly complain on here, but this was ridiculous. We were back in San Diego and decided to get one together! We didn't have a lot of days, nor an appointment (which is highly advised) but popped in anyway! My son was greeted by the tattoo artist named Culleton P. (that had remembered him from their prior interaction). Culleton was able to work us in, which was wonderful. We had just a little bit of a wait time, as he was finishing up with his other clients. As we were waiting, I was watching tattooist Sean creating a Scorpion with extremely intricate design that was added in to his previous work on his patrons sleeve. It was incredibly impressive! The shop is laid-back and has a really cool vibe. Each station has a noticeably clean hygienic workspace and overall an environment that allows you to feel extremely comfortable. What an amazing experience we had from start to finish. My son and I already had in mind what we wanted, so it made the process that much easier. Culleton our tattooer did an incredible job on our tattoos! He's been in the business for decades, so his craft is exceptional. His attention to detail along with the clean lines, solid saturation, and smooth shading made for killer tats! We were so happy with the results. ALL the staff here are phenomenal. You can't go wrong with any one of them! They are so welcoming, creative, and willing to work with you to bring your ideas to life. These artists are knowledgeable, friendly, and informative. To the artists Sean and Bryan even though you were working with your clients, you still made it a point to an acknowledge us and engage us in quality conversations. You ALL really made us feel like we were your friends here, so "Thank you"! NOTE- each artist has their own fees and prices which depends on many factors: such as the design complexity, size, and body placement. FYI- shop generally requiring a minimum and or hourly rate as well. In our case, our cost seemed fair to pay for our pieces. This is such a great ink place. Memorable occasion and one that will bring us back! Highly recommend this as your next tattoo session!
