Went to Tran's on Friday the 13th! There was no bad luck in choosing this place. Excellent menu, outstanding service and very friendly. The Swtieny with Beef was delicious! We also had the sweet and sour chicken, and it too was excellent. Brought in our own bottle of wine, which they were more than happy to open for us. We had one of the best meals we've ever had anywhere, here!! The grilled shrimp with vegetables is OUTSTANDING - tons of huge, perfectly grilled fresh shrimp and crunchy roasted veggies. Fantastic food and even better service! We asked the waiter what his favorite foods are, and he recommended the Pho, because his grandmother is in the back each day doing the prep for it, and he was so right. My husband and I are here in palacios tx from Louisiana for work . This town has some hidden gems for restaurants and Tran's is #1 on the list... Owner Johnny is just friendly ,down to earth and very respectful. The staff are the same , always with smiling faces . Even though due to covid-19 it's only drive thru currently, you still feel so welcomed as I could only imagine the hospitality & experience you would get if you was able to dine in . Louisiana could learn something on hospitality from Tran's in the restaurant industry. Food , ok ok ok there's not even a word made ladies and gents in any language to describe how delish the food is here. We've ordered several different items on the menu and not one disappointed, NOT ONE!!! I personal don't eat leftovers and let's just say hubs was in shock the next day . Serving sizes are more than enough , you won't be hungry later that's for sure . Prices are more than reasonable. This is a local, family-owned, Vietnamese restaurant. The food ranges from traditional Vietnamese pho to cheeseburgers. My personal favorite is the order of chicken wings over steamed rice. The wing sauce is very good. The cheeseburger is great, especially the special spicy burger. Ask for specials and meals of the day. When they have banana pudding on Fridays (usually) and chocolate cake (on special occasions) don't skip it! The beef sweetieny and shrimp fried rice are good, steak tips are excellent. I had spicy hawian shrimp with rice noodles and my 3 year old had the grilled chicken and noodles food was great and very large portions in my opinion so enough if you don't eat it all you can take home and eat it later. We ordered a couple of soups and fried calamary. The waiter asked if we wanted salt and pepper with calamary. It included jalopenos, salt and fried onions. I said no jalopenos. The calamary was way too salty. While paying for the food, I noticed the price for calamary $8.99 was crossed over and the new $9.99 price was written. When I asked them, they told me because the calamary order was "salt and pepper", so there was a dollar extra charge. The waiter never mentioned extra charge, nor was it in the menu. This thing left bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. Its not about $1, its about how they did it. The beef noodle soup was great, the drop egg soup was ok. For the quality of the food and cheating staff it was way over priced. read more

I love this place. My favorite dish is the Grilled Pork and Noodles with Eggroll but everything is good. If they are out of pork, I order the chicken and it is good too. Combo Fried Rice and Seafood are great too. The spices are perfect but the breading on some of the fried meats is kind of heavy so I don't order those dishes. Tran's is great. I enjoy their lunch specials, their Pork and Eggroll Noodles, eggrolls, and spring rolls the most. Their soups (eggdrop, wonton, to name a few) are also delicious. I like to order fried biscuits as an appetizer (it comes with powdered sugar). Seasonal stuff is kind of tricky, as to whether they have it or not (oysters, crawfish.) and they don't always have their Vietnamese Coffee, but speaking as someone who has been here too many times to count, I can tell you that when I leave the coast, this is one of the places I miss the most. read more

I recently made a trip to eat at my most favorite Restaurant in Palacios. Upon arrival I was greeted by a very nice young lady, whom didn't waite on me but sat us down. Our waiter which we believe is the owner's youngest son seemed to be pissed off and acted like we where wasting his time. I ordered my all time fav" Mongolian Beef' which had very little beef :( maybe I should have ordered extra meat. Needles to say I was sad and disappointed being that this used to be my favorite place to eat. I would like to come back in hopes that things would change so I can be excited again. This was the best Asian food I've had since we moved from Minnesota to Texas two years ago. I had the chicken lo mein and it was delicious; the portion was huge, but I couldn't bear not to eat every last bit, so I finished it off. My husband's beef and broccoli was also a large portion, and he said it was excellent, with the broccoli crisp and the sauce perfect. I will always eat here when I'm vacationing in Palacios - I'm just so bummed it's 3 hours from my home! Prices are worth writing home about, too, since they are so reasonable for such large portions (each entree could easily make two dinners if you added an appetizer). read more

Here for dinner during spring break. As a group we tried the calimare, fried pickles, fried oyster dinner, burgers, broiled fish fillets. Everything was very good. The granddaughter was unhappy that there was no marinera to go with the calimare. Overall everyone came away full and happy. read more
