At one point, my hair was accidentally tucked into the stool, and before I could say anything, the masseuse had already left the room. I had to yank my hair out myself, which was frustrating right after the massage.... They were also quite pushy about tipping. After the service, they had the masseuse stand right in front of me while the front desk asked if I wanted to leave a tip even though I had already prepaid. It felt uncomfortable and pressured. When I declined, there was no acknowledgment or courtesy; instead, the staff immediately began speaking in Mandarin, which made the situation feel even more awkward. There's also plenty of free parking available since the spa is located in a large shopping plaza. The facility and bathrooms were clean, and the space felt calm and welcoming. This place has potential, but is still figuring it out. I've now had 2, maybe 3 prenatal massages here. It's right down the street, so the convenience factor is what brought me back and I wanted to hope they would figure it out by the third time, since I know they are a newer establishment. Let's start by saying I fill out the paperwork each time for focus spots, but never get asked about my focus areas by my massage therapist before starting. So does the paperwork get reviewed at all or just checking a box? It feels very rushed and frantic each time I'm there. Granted I do book usually day of or day before but two times, the massage therapist comes into the room what seems like sprinting from another service. No offer to sit in waiting room with a robe or have any water while you wait. Each time I'm taken to my massage room, the bedding is cold and there haven't been pillows for my head. They always bring in a pillow once starting the service, but it takes away from the experience of walking into the massage room feeling like it was prepared for you. Lastly, as you pay, the massage therapist is standing right by the receptionist as they ask you if you'd like to tip and how much. Of course I have always leave a tip, but it's a little awkward to have it be asked right in front of the massage therapist. My advice: - offer water as you wait - have massage therapist ask about focus areas as they enter the room - before receptionist takes you back to the room, have him make sure the room is ready (inviting with a pillow and/ or bed warmer if applicable) While the price isn't insane, I don't think the price matches the quality of what you get and the experience. The customer service is a bit disorganized, however the excellent massage, new and clean facilities more than made up for the small hiccup. He was stepping on my calf with his full weight which was not requested at any time. The owner called to cover his tail and hasn't said a word since. Front desk person had frenetic energy. Not really relaxing but very polite and nice. And even though I wanted the Swedish, I got a lot of elbo work over sheets to my pressure points. Felt more like intense reflexology than relaxing Swedish strokes on my muscles. Part of me wasn't sure the person was licensed or knew what I wanted. A little over half way through I did get what felt like 15 minutes of actual oil and skin to skin contact on my back. But too little for what I was supposed to be getting. It's the next day and although my body is possibly a little more loose, I feel more sore than relaxed and will probobly go somewhere else next time to get what I personally need. I visited this establishment while in Walnut Creek visiting my parents, specifically seeking a professional lymphatic massage for post-surgery recovery. I was charged an extra $25 for this 'specialized' service, but it was one of the most disappointing and concerning experiences I have ever had. ​As someone recovering from surgery, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a critical part of my healing process. MLD requires a very specific, light, and directional touch to move toxins and fluid toward the lymph nodes. However, the therapist here was clearly untrained and lacked even a basic understanding of lymphatic pathways. The strokes were completely disorganized, moving up and down in a chaotic manner rather than following the correct anatomical direction. The pressure was also incredibly inconsistent--at times far too heavy--which is the opposite of what a post-op patient needs. ​Most alarmingly, the therapist Jenny incorrect technique and heavy-handedness put a noticeable strain on my heart. As an individual with an existing heart condition, this was not just a poor service; it felt physically dangerous. Proper communication is vital in a clinical massage setting, yet there was a significant language barrier that made it impossible to explain my discomfort or correct the therapist's movements. My concerns were completely ignored because they weren't understood. ​It is unacceptable to charge a $25 premium for a 'specialized' service when the staff is not properly certified or trained to perform it safely. I felt cheated out of my money and, more importantly, I left feeling physically worse than when I arrived. I would have been much better off staying home and listening to music. If you are looking for actual post-surgical care or professional MLD, please avoid this place. I recently went to Tranquility Spa for a massage and unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. The massage therapist applied a lot of pressure to my neck using her elbow, causing me a great deal of pain. I kept wincing throughout the session and tried to ask her to be gentler, and when she used a hot towel on my back, she pressed so hard that it felt like I was being burned. I had to ask her to remove the towel. I was disappointed with the service I received at Tranquility Spa and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable massage. The massage therapist was very rough and did not pay attention to my needs and preferences. I specifically asked for a gentle massage, but she used her elbow on my neck with such force that it left me in pain for day. when she used a hot towel on my back, she applied too much pressure, causing me to feel like I was being suffocated.I would not recommend this spa to anyone. I showed up 15 minutes early to my appointment, once I checked in, I was shown to my room immediately and I didn't have to wait long for my masseuse. Overall, I enjoyed the massage, she checked in about the pressure and firmness once she started. And I was asked about problem areas or areas to focus on before I went in. I was hesitant with the strip mall location, but the inside was very clean and the staff was professional. It was really easy to book online and the price was very reasonable - $120 for 90 minutes. I had a short list of things bothering me - low back, neck etc but before I could start talking, Michelle K did a few gentle nudges on my back and neck to evaluate my situation and then went to work without a word and found all the perfect spots. I still felt relaxed and tension free several days later. She is an artist. I am very hard to impress with massage, I need just the right pressure to get it right and usually have to guide the masseuse. She needed no instruction, she did some unusual hard pressure on the bottom of my feet and would apply pressure then stretch, then more pressure, then stretch to get in deep without making me jump off the table. The experience at Tranquility was honestly very disappointing from start to finish. When I first arrived, I was told that I needed to pay for the massage upfront. While that's not unheard of, it already felt a bit unusual and set a slightly uncomfortable tone for the visit. However, what really caught me off guard was that before the massage had even started, they asked me how much I planned to tip. Being asked about the tip amount before receiving any service felt awkward and inappropriate. It made me feel pressured and took away from what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. Unfortunately, things didn't improve once the massage began. I was expecting a professional and comfortable session, but instead, I found it difficult to relax. The therapist's belly was frequently pressed against my body, which made me feel uncomfortable and distracted throughout the session. On top of that, the pressure wasn't what I had asked for. It was either inconsistent or just not satisfying, and I didn't feel like the massage met the standard I was hoping for. By the end of the session, I still felt tense rather than refreshed. Even though I wasn't happy with the experience, I still left a $10 tip out of courtesy. To be honest, I was surprised to be met with a sour expression in return, which only reinforced my negative impression of the overall customer service. A massage should be relaxing and leave you feeling cared for and valued as a customer. Sadly, that wasn't my experience here. The spa is located in a strip mall between TJMaxx and Footwear Etc. I was able to walk in and get an appointment with Carrie on the spot. Spa is clean and spacious and separated by actual rooms - with doors! I had the 60 minute combo (35 min body massage and 25 min feet). Typically I don't like female massage therapist but Carrie was fantastic! (Thanks for the rec Yelpers!). Her technique is similar to the therapists at the fancy spas-using a combination of flow, forearms and elbow. It was very relaxing. The only con is that the massage table is stationery and not adjustable so she had to climb a little onto the table to reach further. Otherwise everything else was great!
