Always a great experience at Tranquility Dental. My favorite dental hygienist Martha is absolutely the best, the sweetest, most meticulous, and thorough ever. Love my squeaky clean teeth! Dr. Shah is a warm, detail oriented, professional, patient and attentive dentist, with great "bedside manner," easy to talk to and gives practical advice. I love coming to my dental appointments. I have been coming here for over 10 years and have had cleanings with all the hygienists, as well as major dental work done. I have never been one to write reviews, but Dr. Shah and her team need to get some well-deserved kudos. My wife and I had been going to this same location before Dr Shah took over and it was less than a pleasant experience. My wife having been traumatized as a child with dentists she was still very nervous when Dr. Shah took over. Long story short Dr. Shah has come in and made my wife and family at ease and created a well-run dental practice. She and her staff are kind and caring with all of our needs (and trust me I have a crown that keeps them busy due to a previously botched dental visit to another dentist (Six Day Dental) many years ago). Dr. Shah is honest and up front with her diagnosis and does everything she can to help take care of her patients. Dr. Shah is by far the best dentist I have ever gone to. She is meticulous in her work as well as gentle and comforting. She has been working with my orthodontist to ensure that we are all on the same page and she goes above and beyond in her communication and attention to every detail. Annie is an awesome hygienist and again is very gentle, comforting and thorough. I can't leave out the front office staff. You are greeted with smiles and calmness from the moment you walk through the door! Allison is so knowledgeable about insurance and is there to help in every way. Dr. Shah and her ENTIRE staff are simply excellent in every respect (and no, I'm not a family member or personal friend of anyone at the practice - LOL). They are competent, professional, and efficient, but they are also very kind, engaging, and personable. Frankly, i's getting more and more difficult to find any one of these qualities in an organization these days, and they possess them all. Old school in all of the right ways. My wife and I have been going to this dental practice for a little over 4 years now. We have been disappointed that the dentist has changed multiple times and we have never seen the same hygenist twice in a row. We are also disappointed with constantly trying to be sold little extras that are not covered by insurance. The last time I went they did something to my teeth that was extra and didn't ask me about it... just told me what the bill was at the end of the appointment. My wife and I are in a search for a new dentist. Granted, the work they do actually do is good, just not satisfied with everything else going on in with the practice. The owner of the practice, Dr Gibbs, is the reason I started coming to this place. She has some kind of health issue and hasn't been actually practicing for over a year now. I found this practice off of the snap on smile website, which I thought I wanted to try. I was fully ready to walk in the door and drop 2K on this snap on smile contraption, but luckily the dentist here discussed several options with me instead; Turned out I could improve my smile withOUT spending that much money! I was really happy to see that the dentist and his team here are so informative and not just trying to take your hard earned dough. All of the staff here is very welcoming and sweet. read more

This was our dental place when we moved from Houston back to Mckinney back in 2011 after 2 different doctors and several rude staff we decided to go elsewhere. After our orthodontist next door suggested we take our daughter next door for a procedure, I told him we had stopped he told me they had a new doctor and new staff so I decided to try it again over a year ago and I couldn't be more happy with the quality of care and their overall service. The staff is extra nice and understanding working with my busy schedule, all my daughters always have a great experience when they go in, even my 7 year old. I recommend their services to anyone who enjoys a great experience with people that care. read more

Totally agree with Chad C.'s review. We have been patients at this practice for many years, but no longer. The high dentist turnover, the bills that come 6 months after the appointment, and the feeling that they are trying to find ways to make some extra money are making me leave. We are gone! A friend of mine, that I had recommended Tranquility dental to, received a call the night before her 6 month checkup and was told that they were looking at her x-rays from her previous check up(6 months ago) and she had a cavity. If she decided to fill it tomorrow, she could get a 20% discount. They did the same to me and my husband. My husband went in for a cleaning which should be is covered 100% and he walked out owing almost $200. I will not recommend this practice to anyone. read more

Horrible experience! Dr. Gibbs gave me a cap on one of my teeth and shortly after it became infected. My jaw was swollen the entire weekend and it was very painful!! When I tried to call, they were closed and of course, had no emergency line. I guess that would just be too responsible; to have an emergency line just in case some thing goes wrong with your dental work. I ended up having to have a root canal as a result. Now that same stupid cap literally fell off and they are refusing to fix it. I was told that the 1 year warranty was up. I have never had a cap just fall off! My insurance won't pay for a new one because they said it was too new and shouldn't have fallen off if it was done correctly. So now I get to pay $863 for a new cap because Dr. Gibbs and her staff operate under an 'at your own risk' mentality. I wish they had taken some responsibility, but this just confirms why I left and changed dentists. I'm sure they are at least average, as long as they don't screw any dental work up! read more

An addendum to my previous review. Now my teeth are hurting and i have a horrible toothache that i didnt have before. Also, they put all these fillings on my teeth and claimed i needed them, yet these teeth did not even have cavities. I had no discomfort on any of the teeth they claimed were in horrible shape. I kept asking repeatedly for them to tell me how many cavities I had, and they would never tell me. I kept asking why they were putting fillings on teeth that had no cavities, and I was given some BS response. Naively, I believed them. They are running a fraudulent practice and inflate bills where they can. I went in there for discomfort on only ONE tooth, and came out with fillings on 10 teeth!!!! It was all unnecessary dental work, and now my teeth are in WORSE shape than they were before. And I'll say again how stupid, lazy, and the office staff is. Sherry also never gave me the full $25 referral credit that I had. She claimed she gave it to me, but it never showed on my bill and she refused to show me proof that she gave it to me. Oh and to top it all off, Dr Gibbs had the nerve to send me a certified CYA letter stating she would not do any further dental services on my teeth. Seriously? Does she really think I would even consider going back there? You could've saved yourself the stamp lady. This is a HORRIBLE place, HORRIBLE office staff, HORRIBLE dentists. The people on here writing good reviews are naïve and must've been paid to write these reviews. Check all the other review sites (google, yahoo, citysearch), the reviews over there are ALL bad. I've being going to this location for over 6 yrs but in July there was a change in ownership. In Aug had a couple of flings and a crown done. As usually, a treatment place was provided along with cost. I provided my insurance information for them to verify what the insurance company would cover. At the end of the last appt I check in with the front office, before leaving, and verified that there was no additional charges. The insurance plus a credit on my account would cover all cost. Too my surprise I received a bill a for an unpaid amount and the statement indicated I was 90 days past due. Keep in mind this was the first I heard there was a balance and there was no explanation as to what the balance represented. When I spoke with the office manager the only explanation given was that the insurance potion was only an estimate of what they would pay and if it was short I was responsible. I don't like surprises 3 months later so that will be my last visit. read more

I was a patient for a little more than 3 years. I got all my cleanings done by the hygienist (which was never the same), and they have all been fine. I was okay with them until I had to get some work done. They are horrible! They do not care for you at all! I say run as fast as you can! Please do believe all the unhappy patients, they are all describing what I had to go through. I had a root canal a year before I started going to them. I started feeling some discomfort and later got a very visible abscess. I showed the Tranquility Dentist and hygienist, but they suggested I see someone else or get it re-done with them. They did not give me anything at all for the infection and/or pain! after weeks I went back to them so I could get it removed to get an implant. I was too scared of doing another root canal again. They had quoted me how much it would be for them to finish the job with them, since the actual surgery had to be done somewhere else. After having the surgery (with a surgeon they recommended) I came back to finish the procedure. They made me wait over an hour, before they realized they needed to order a package to finish my procedure. So stupid! I was so mad they made me waste my time! We rescheduled. Oh, did I mention that I was toothless ALL this time! 3rd apt... made me wait a little over 30 min in the lobby, before the front desk lady came up to me, and very quietly was explaining that the quote they had given me months before had been wrong, and that it would be an additional $500! Their excuse.... "the last receptionist did not quote you correctly" Why did it take them so long to figure this out! I was done with them. I left the place in tears. My husband and I called their office that same day, to talk to their manager, asking them to honor the price they had given us. They did not care. I was without a tooth for over 3 months because of them. I ended up going with another dentist. read more

I have been going to Tranquility Dental for a while now and after my last visit, I will never go back. One week before my visit I received an email from Tranquility Dental asking to confirm my 4:30pm appointment. I clicked on the link in the email and confirmed my appointment. Two days before my appointment, I received another email from Tranquility Dental confirming my 4:30pm appointment. On the day of my appointment, I went to work thinking I am going to the dentist at 4:30pm. While at work, I get a call from my father saying that Tranquility Dental called and wanted to know my insurance information for my 4:00pm appointment. This was irritating since I had originally scheduled my appointment for 4:30pm and confirmed it for 4:30pm and now Tranquility Dental has decided to change my appointment without my consent. I leave work early so that I can make the 4:00pm appointment and I arrive eight minutes early. When I finally get back to the chair at 4:20pm, I am annoyed. When I am getting my teeth cleaned, the dental assistant decides to first put the device that sucks the water out of your mouth onto my lip so it hurts my lip. When I move the device, the dental assistant asks if my teeth are sensitive. I replied no and stated that she had put the device on my lip. At this point I am expecting an apology but none was given. The dental assistant then moves the device so that it is resting on the side of my mouth and sucking on my tongue. I let it sit for a little bit to see if she would hold the device but she did not. I had to take the device and hold it in my mouth myself and the dental assistant allowed me to hold it instead of holding it herself. During the cleaning she also decides to tell me that my teeth are in really bad shape and I need to brush my teeth better, not drink soda/sugary drinks (which I drink water and an occasional glass of unsweet tea), and not to eat sweets without drinking water. The dentist then proceeds to enter the room and check my teeth. According to the dentist, my teeth were fine. No cavities or anything. After the lack of professionalism and common courtesy I received at Tranquility Dental, I will never be going back. read more
