My appointment was for 10am on a Wednesday. I arrived about 15 minutes early, as accustomed to many other spa treatments I've had, in order to fill out paperwork, etc. Amy had not yet arrived. I sat awkwardly in a makeshift waiting area and finally sent her a text to let her know I had arrived as it neared 10am. She arrived an began scurrying around the place turning on music, lights, etc. I completed the paperwork and we discussed what I was needing. Let's just say it was the most unrelaxing massage I've ever had. It was chaos. She would move all around instead of focusing on one side of my body and then the other, as all of my other massages had been like. It just wasn't what I was looking for and if I had paid more than my Groupon price, I would have been even more disappointed.

I had never tried the hot rock option before and my goodness, I will never get another massage without it! I got an hour-long, full body, Swedish massage (thanks, Groupon!) and it felt far too short, when I've had massages the same length that felt like they took forever. There was also a dab of lavender placed under my nose for a relaxation technique; another option was eucalyptus. I have the feeling that I will not have a massage that can live up too well to Amy's technique! What to expect: The business is located within a building, in a single room, where outside there is an arm chair, a coffee/tea bar, and a table set up with an arrangement of different spiritual and holistically therapeutic artifacts, including a few flags that describe various chakras. The room itself has a sign to let you know when there's a client in session, and there is also a very cool, large bell to ring for assistance. It might look a little odd compared to places like Massage Envy, but don't let that deter you. Her rates are very reasonable. Groupon afforded me $30 for a 60-minute session, and the regular price is $65, which is a typical rate. And, during the month of your birthday, your massage costs only $40! Pretty cool. I'll definitely be back!

She's that kind of massage therapist who figures out where needs work and with what kind of pressure without me having to say a word, and her space is relaxing and peaceful (in the basement of a downtown building that holds several independent businesses). Keep in mind that since it's downtown, you may need a bit of time to find parking if you're going in the middle of a weekday. She has an easy-to-use website with online booking/rescheduling enabled, and the insurance billing has been seamless - she takes care of that all. So now I've got a new job and I no longer have coverage for massage therapy (boo!). But I'll keep seeing her nonetheless!

I didn't even liked the massage it was shorter than what it should've been so I didn't feel like leaving a tip and she was very upset at me for not wanting me to leave a tip. Here. There! I tried just about everywhere. I'm not intending to point out anyone else's poor service. Most providers in Salem were very good, BUT they were NOT "Annie" at Happy Holiday, and who's care and ministrations are decidedly ~extraordinary~. Sure, my back scar was a pretty obvious source of pain and stiffness, but Annie's fingers worked their magic as she seemed to know intrinsically where my problems emanated from. She gently worked the soft tissues with great tenderness but in the full scope stiffened her resolve to include my deep tissue issues and the relaxation of my whole being. On my drive home I was fully satisfied and happily content. I've been going to her whenever possible for over a year now and will continue to seek relief with her for as long as possible. Thank you Annie!!

I didn't say anything to her regarding my shoulder ache and stiff back but almost immediately she discovered the issues and even informed me that I had a tight shoulder and back muscles. She mentioned (thru a phone app that translates Chinese to English - very cool!) that she had been trained in China - which I would not doubt! I paid for an hour massage and received an hour therapeutic massage which was very good to me. I've been short changed the hour session at other places, so it was refreshing to get what I paid for! I'll be going back soon to keep my aches and tightness from reoccurring to soon. I'd recommend a visit - Oh! Don't forget to ask for Coco!
