I've been a client of Erin O'Brien for years, first meeting her when she was at that Liberty St…read moresalon next to Roth's IGA. Been following her around ever since. Hands down the best up-do creationist I've ever seen. She's been at the Allure Salon and Day Spa now for quite a while, and I felt like writing a review since I see that no one else has. The Salon is always clean and smells great; no overpowering chemical smells to burn your nose hairs. Staff are always available to help you set up an appointment over the phone or as a walk in. Though I would warn you that certain stylists are very popular and if you are attempting a walk in for one of them, it may not be the best idea. I would suggest an appointment personally, just in case they are slammed. Conversations around the shop are always funny; the girls have a snarky sense of humor that goes well with mine. The overall atmosphere is upbeat and positive. My daughter's hair has been cut as a walk in basis when I've set up my own appointments, and she's been seen by several of the stylists. There has been not a single bad cut on her head. Each and every stylist is a true artist and very good at what they do. When I have enough time, I set up an appointment with the resident Massage Therapist. Angeleet Betts is the most skilled masseuse I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. If I could, I would see her weekly. She has perfected the art of firm enough to actually get the knots out without hurting even a bit. I highly recommend Allure to anyone and everyone. From kids to adults, to those seeking massages to those needing a wax.

The place was a large work space with a comfy facial bed. One thing that I noticed, there weren't a great amount of machines and other types of gear I've seen in other salons. The workspace was very clean. She was on time and delivered the full hour. She was really a hands on professional. I've been in some salons where there was very little massage done on the face utilizing masks to a greater degree. Here, she really used much facial massage in addition to a mask. Personally I found that infinitely more rewarding. Even though the masks had had a great effect in appearance and results, I desperately missed the facial massage. While the mask that she used was doing its job, she massaged shoulders, arms, and hands. What I enjoyed as well was she didn't try to sell me a bunch of products. She was very clear what she used and why. I was extremely happy with not only the fact she spoke to a reasonable degree, but she allowed the experience to be the relaxing, pampering, and rejuvenating time it was designed to deliver. The music was instrumental in producing this effect. She was down to earth, and very professional. I would return, definitely.

I've been getting massages for over 40 years, and I was really looking forward to a foot soak and…read moremassage at LaLumiere after reading the Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, the experience was terrible for the following reasons: 1. On the page under "Massage Enhancements - Epsom Foot Soak" the business promises an Epsom Foot Soak for new clients to enjoy while they fill out paperwork. I arrived 15m before my appointment and asked about the foot soak. The receptionist was not at the desk, so the question was posed to a massage therapist who showed up and said that the receptionist was preparing it. I was given paperwork to fill out which I did without the aforementioned foot soak. 2. When I was shown to the massage room, the foot bath was there, and I asked whether the 15m foot soak would be counted as part of my massage. The therapist, Anita, left the room for 10m (part of my massage time now) and came back to say that the foot soak would not be offered. Instead she said she would add on a paraffin treatment for my hands and feet. 3. The actual "deep tissue" massage was a lot of petting and short superficial strokes. She did identify and dig in deeper to sore glut muscles which helped relieve some tension, but it was not the deep tissue massage I had expected, and she did not address my primary concern (bursitis). 4. She ended the massage after 50 minutes (minus the time she left the room). 5. She never followed through with the promise of a paraffin treatment. Even though I was offered a discount, I left more stressed than I arrived. This is not the way to treat anyone. Never promise something you can't deliver.
