I'd give Trancas Steakhouse a solid 3.5 stars. We came with a party of six, and overall everyone thought their food was good. My husband and I split the ribeye and a wedge salad. We ordered the ribeye medium, but it came out medium rare, so we had to send it back. Our waiter handled it really well and was very accommodating. We also tried the crème brûlée, which had a noticeable lemon flavor. It wasn't bad, but it definitely threw us off because it wasn't what we were expecting. One thing to know is that they have loud karaoke on the weekends, so be prepared for that if you're hoping for a quiet date night. I took my mother and son to your restaurant today. We have been long time patrons since you opened. My son ordered your 6oz steak that may have been 6oz prior to cooking but came out and was a smaller portion than the two sprigs of broccoli on the plate. The amount of food for the price was laughable. $37 for a plate of food that was 80% french fries that appeared to come out of a freezer bag. As for the half of beet salad, which I didn't eat, but was charged $11 for and consisted of about a cup and a half of food, had small cubes of beets that tasted like they came from a can. I was hoping, for the price, that the beets would have been local quality and roasted. The Ruben sandwich my mom picked at seemed okay. Just a lackluster sandwich that appeared to be the same quality of Dennys. The $80 meal (not including tip) definitely was not the caliber I expected from your restaurant and I don't plan to return. WoW It's been sometime since I been here. My daughter and I had the Thursday special: Surf and turf plus mashed potatoes and season vegetables. Our server was great, and very helpful. We had a great experience on mother's day. The service was spot on and extremely friendly. We started our meal with the lobster bisque. Not my favorite. Lacked flavor and texture. No appetizers this time. Slow start but our entrees were all delicious and we all left happy!!! The desserts were a great way to end our evening. Salads are great. The burger is good but usually comes out more well done than i like. Of course, killer local wine list & Cocktails. Good if you have a big group of people or appeal if you wanna lounge hang around. Hit or miss if the staff disappears for long periods or focuses on more deep pocket and/or those bigger tables. French dip or burger is a great value versus the $31-72 steaks. My only gripe is the small portion sizes and long waits for staff. The french dip is fantastic with aujus but over quickly. (don't love prime rib btw). Listen, I am sure that this place is amazing. I have been here before and love most of their food, but I tried the famous prime rib, and it was disappointing. It was flavorless and lackluster, but tender. The tequila mushroom sauce was amazing, but there was sooo much fat on the prime rib. However, I've tried the other steaks, and the other steaks are amazing. Maybe it's just the prime rib. I was not a fan. but pretty ok food but the service was fantastic. All the waiters were extremely nice. All the staff were helpful and very kind, so thank you to them, and the ambience is quite nice, but overall 4.2 stars i would much rather you recommend you get the filet mignon or the New York strip cause the famous ribeye was not that good in my humble opinion but this is not to discredit this establishment read more

We found this local steakhouse/sports bar during our getaway to Napa. My husband loves prime rib and we were so happy that we gave Trancas a chance. The staff was very friendly and reassured us that the prime rib described as world's best was indeed very good. I ordered the 6 oz cut and my husband got the 12 oz cut. It was perfectly cooked to our order of medium rare. The veggies were tender but still had a crunch and had great flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy. Oh! And the bread was brought to us piping hot, crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. We felt really comfortable in the restaurant. A true Hidden in Napa. One of my favorite places to go when I'm in the area. Their food is excellent. Their service is exceptional. The interior is cozy and the pictures on the wall scream "local, non-touristy spot." It's the sweet spot between a laid back experience and fine dining. The prime rib is always tender and the service is always quick and friendly. Solid wine list (of course) but the cocktails are also excellent. My husband and I love steak, and decided to give this place a try for his Birthday a few weeks ago. We didn't start off right, the hostess was nowhere to be found when we arrive. I get it, maybe she was busy. However after a few mins she showed up, and asked "do you have a reservation?" so I asked her "do we need one?" in the most rude way she looked at me and said "well... you're already here" and then there was an awkward silence before she said "just follow me" (I didn't make a reservation because I had checked earlier that day on Open Table and realized they had a lot of available tables for dinner that night) it honestly threw me off (no need for the rudeness). Luckily We had a good experience with our server Beatriz. The prime rib was super tasty (we've had better to be honest) but the meat was juicy and cooked as ordered, the mashed potatoes were quite tasty too. The prime rib was delicious and the baked potatoe was juat a good. I do wish that they had a couple different options for another side instead of the mixed vegetables they had. But I totally understand. They want to keep it with a Simp as simple as possible. We have never been there. We just were in town shopping and decided to check it out. I am a big steak eater and love trying new places. The ambience inside was warm and comforting. I love the fact that they have photos of old employees, or customers spread out throughout the walls. I want to start this review by thanking the owner, and staff of this establishment for the convenience, courtesy and care they extend to disabled seniors!! My mom and I came in today to have lunch, and the staff did everything that they could to make her visit excellent! She had her heart set on the braised short ribs, but they were not on the menu when we came in. Our server checked with the kitchen, and they kindly agreed to make some for her. They were fabulous. My mom was exceptionally happy because this is one of her most favorite dishes and it's hard to find anywhere that can make it well. We certainly found that place today. One minor negative Sidenote: the server did not ask how I wanted my burger cooked, and it came out medium well. I prefer my burger between medium rare and medium. Having said that, the burger was juicy enough, and with the quality of the meat they use, the amount of cooking didn't seem to matter as much. Still a tasty burger. Hubs ordered a 12 ounce prime rib and I ordered a 6 ounce and to be honest comparing the two there wasn't much of a difference. Whenever I'm in Napa around lunchtime before heading home to Sonoma County I make sure I visit the Trancas Steakhouse for the VERY BEST I'VE EVER EATEN FRENCH DIP SANDWICH. May not look too fancy, but it's a melt in your mouth pile of thinly sliced prime rib on a pillowy soft roll. I usually ask for some creamed horseradish to accompany the Au Jus and I'm in sheer heaven. Service is friendly and efficient.
