We pass Trancas Steakhouse all the time and I had always wanted to try it. Tonight was our first visit, and I'm very glad we finally stopped in. I'll be candid,,,when my fiancée and I first walked in, I felt a little uneasy. As women of color, we noticed a few reactions from other guests that made us feel somewhat out of place. Given the climate we live in, I simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful Friday evening with my beloved without having to wonder whether we would be treated differently. Then we met Jesus who was pouring water in the dining room. I quietly asked him whether we would be comfortable and treated well there. Without hesitation, he reassured me that everything was fine and that we had nothing to worry about. His kindness immediately helped me relax. Throughout our meal, he continued to be attentive and made sure our water glasses were filled. Then came Monica, our server and what a wonderful representative of hospitality she is. She greeted us with a genuine smile, explained the specials, gave us time with the menu and remained attentive without hovering. What impressed me most was watching her work the room. She had the same warmth, courtesy and professionalism she showed us, she showed every table. Her kindness was consistent and authentic. Good service can be hard to find these days and Monica wears hospitality beautifully. Now, the food! I ordered the ribeye with a baked potato and all the trimmings, cooked medium. My fiancée ordered the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetables, also medium. I had a Pepsi and she had a Merlot. That ribeye was GLORIOUS tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked, pink in the middle and practically melting in my mouth. My fiancée said her prime rib was excellent as well. A great cut of meat is one thing but having a kitchen that actually knows how to prepare it exactly as ordered makes all the difference. Both dishes came out beautifully. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable and inviting. The lighting was just right,,,not too bright and not too dark and our cushioned seating made it easy to settle in and enjoy dinner. Whatever uneasiness I felt when we first entered was ultimately outweighed by the excellent service and food. Monica and Jesus made us feel welcomed, cared for and comfortable and they deserve recognition for that. First visit, but definitely not our last. I hope Monica is our server again and I hope Jesus is there to greet us with that same kindness. I'd give Trancas Steakhouse a solid 3.5 stars. We came with a party of six, and overall everyone thought their food was good. My husband and I split the ribeye and a wedge salad. We ordered the ribeye medium, but it came out medium rare, so we had to send it back. Our waiter handled it really well and was very accommodating. We also tried the crème brûlée, which had a noticeable lemon flavor. It wasn't bad, but it definitely threw us off because it wasn't what we were expecting. One thing to know is that they have loud karaoke on the weekends, so be prepared for that if you're hoping for a quiet date night. We went here to celebrate the father of a friend's birthday. The family had all been there before but it was my first time. I love how it had a community dive bar feel and look but the food is absolutely delicious and much finer dining than anticipated. The servers were very nice but it was pretty busy in the outdoor area and they forgot a couple things for our table. They were in and out with plates and plates of yummy looking food, and did their best to check in. Everyone at the table still had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We ordered the buttermilk fried calamari to share which had a tempura like texture and came with a few fried veggies. I shared a half wedge salad with my friend and ordered the pork lion Milanese. Salads are great. The burger is good but usually comes out more well done than i like. Of course, killer local wine list & Cocktails. Good if you have a big group of people or appeal if you wanna lounge hang around. Hit or miss if the staff disappears for long periods or focuses on more deep pocket and/or those bigger tables. French dip or burger is a great value versus the $31-72 steaks. My only gripe is the small portion sizes and long waits for staff. The french dip is fantastic with aujus but over quickly. We had a great experience on mother's day. The service was spot on and extremely friendly. We started our meal with the lobster bisque. Not my favorite. Lacked flavor and texture. I took my mother and son to your restaurant today. We have been long time patrons since you opened. My son ordered your 6oz steak that may have been 6oz prior to cooking but came out and was a smaller portion than the two sprigs of broccoli on the plate. The amount of food for the price was laughable. $37 for a plate of food that was 80% french fries that appeared to come out of a freezer bag. As for the half of beet salad, which I didn't eat, but was charged $11 for and consisted of about a cup and a half of food, had small cubes of beets that tasted like they came from a can. I was hoping, for the price, that the beets would have been local quality and roasted. The Ruben sandwich my mom picked at seemed okay. Just a lackluster sandwich that appeared to be the same quality of Dennys. The $80 meal (not including tip) definitely was not the caliber I expected from your restaurant and I don't plan to return. We found this local steakhouse/sports bar during our getaway to Napa. My husband loves prime rib and we were so happy that we gave Trancas a chance. The staff was very friendly and reassured us that the prime rib described as world's best was indeed very good. I ordered the 6 oz cut and my husband got the 12 oz cut. It was perfectly cooked to our order of medium rare. The veggies were tender but still had a crunch and had great flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy. Oh! And the bread was brought to us piping hot, crunchy on the outside and super soft on the inside. We felt really comfortable in the restaurant. (don't love prime rib btw). Listen, I am sure that this place is amazing. I have been here before and love most of their food, but I tried the famous prime rib, and it was disappointing. It was flavorless and lackluster, but tender. The tequila mushroom sauce was amazing, but there was sooo much fat on the prime rib. However, I've tried the other steaks, and the other steaks are amazing. Maybe it's just the prime rib. I was not a fan. but pretty ok food but the service was fantastic. All the waiters were extremely nice. All the staff were helpful and very kind, so thank you to them, and the ambience is quite nice, but overall 4.2 stars i would much rather you recommend you get the filet mignon or the New York strip cause the famous ribeye was not that good in my humble opinion but this is not to discredit this establishment read more

The interior is cozy and the pictures on the wall scream "local, non-touristy spot." It's the sweet spot between a laid back experience and fine dining. My husband and I love steak, and decided to give this place a try for his Birthday a few weeks ago. We didn't start off right, the hostess was nowhere to be found when we arrive. I get it, maybe she was busy. However after a few mins she showed up, and asked "do you have a reservation?" so I asked her "do we need one?" in the most rude way she looked at me and said "well... you're already here" and then there was an awkward silence before she said "just follow me" (I didn't make a reservation because I had checked earlier that day on Open Table and realized they had a lot of available tables for dinner that night) it honestly threw me off (no need for the rudeness). Luckily We had a good experience with our server Beatriz. The prime rib was super tasty (we've had better to be honest) but the meat was juicy and cooked as ordered, the mashed potatoes were quite tasty too. I want to start this review by thanking the owner, and staff of this establishment for the convenience, courtesy and care they extend to disabled seniors!! My mom and I came in today to have lunch, and the staff did everything that they could to make her visit excellent! She had her heart set on the braised short ribs, but they were not on the menu when we came in. Our server checked with the kitchen, and they kindly agreed to make some for her. They were fabulous. My mom was exceptionally happy because this is one of her most favorite dishes and it's hard to find anywhere that can make it well. We certainly found that place today. One minor negative Sidenote: the server did not ask how I wanted my burger cooked, and it came out medium well. I prefer my burger between medium rare and medium. Having said that, the burger was juicy enough, and with the quality of the meat they use, the amount of cooking didn't seem to matter as much. Still a tasty burger. I got my hair done for NYE and the stylist told me that she was having NYE dinner at this place which is a family favorite for many years. From what she told me, I knew we had to try it before leaving town so we went last night. First of all its a self standing red building with a Palm tree that blocks a good part of the sign from the street so if you go at night, there are lights that trim the building so it was easy to find. I read reviews and decided to have a favorite when going to steakhouses, a steak sandwich. It was a good and TENDER! You really don't need to open it and put on all the fixings yourself because they're neatly stacked in the sandwich already. I opened mine to put the pickles (they tasted homemade and delicious) and some steak sauce inside. It comes with fries but I opted for geeen salad with Thousand Island instead. My partner had a top sirloin steak that broccoli and baked potato. He said it was very good. Before our meals came, they brought out some warm french bread and butter. It was perfect while we sipped our wine. We enjoyed the ambiance, food, and mostly the attentiveness of our server and all of the other staff always checking on us as they walked by. Our tastebuds landed us at Trancas Steakhouse which was open right at 11 AM We were one of the first people to get seated. The host promptly seated us at one of the taller tables and were handed to menus and their delicious iced tea with a basket of bread and butter. Hubs ordered a 12 ounce prime rib and I ordered a 6 ounce and to be honest comparing the two there wasn't much of a difference. We opted for a side of sauté mushrooms with mashed potatoes and veggies. Don't forget the mushrooms. Don't ever forget the mushrooms these are a perfect complement to the prime rib. perfectly.
