They had many sales prior to closing their doors. They were handing out purple paper flyers the day that they started offering the sales. That was my during my first visit. I am a newbie sewer, and I have 13 quillows to make that I was not able to make last year because we lost our home in the Malibu Wild Fires. I went to Trains Fabrics a couple of months ago and was astonished at the beautiful fabrics and textiles they had. This is a very laid back and slow "down home" business. The owner Betty could not have been nicer to me. She ended up giving me a cutting mat that she had laying around, for free. She was uber patient trying to teach me how to attach the pocket on my quilt, but I am going back today, with my quillow and my machine to see if she can show me again. I always walk out with new fabric anyway because she has some of the most beautiful cotton quilting fabric I have ever seen. I am her new pain in the -ss. But I couldn't learn from a better person. Down to earth and a store that I will go to as long as possible. I'll post the cute picture I have later. I'm a big fan of Train's. read more

Surprisingly extensive and wonderful selection of fabric. Don't let the storefront fool you. Great pricing. Very pleasant owner with a relaxed atmosphere...you'll probably join in on quilt making stories being told by other customers. read more

Small little shop, lovely ladies, helpful, and prices most fabric I saw was $10 a yard or less quite comparable to other shops in the Seattle area. They had a large quilting machine, a decent selection of fleeces, a few drapery clothes and I over heard the employees talking about more shelving and their goal of keeping inventory and selection up! Super charming little store, with an amazing amount of fabric and very warm friendly service. One of the staff members even stopped to show me some small mini-quilts they were using as art, and share with the community, I believe as art installations at local retirement homes. I've been here - once. While it's all on one level, it is NOT handicapped accessible in any way, shape or form. Whether using a walker or wheelchairs, or even a cane - having tons and tons of fabric does a shopped no good if you can't get through the aisles. And they aren't the least bit concerned. The owner refused to rent long arm time to me saying she was booked. I was willing to wait until after Christmas but her calendar does not go beyond November. Donna the owner was rude and crotchety. After driving 75 miles I decided not to bother her again.She stated the long arm was for her customers. I bought fabric and am now sorry I grovelled. read more

I love this shop!! Everyone there is helpful and seem to know everything about sewing. The fabric prices are the best I've found and when they have their sales - wow! I must admit that my color sense is not always the best so when I'm looking at starting a quilt for someone, I usually go to Trains and get their help in picking fabrics/patterns/quilting ideas/etc... It looks a little chaotic but there are treasures to be found - you just have to look (or ask for help). read more
