I'm leaving a review about how this gym handles memberships. My hubs prepaid for 2 months thru USAA and Training Zone won't honor his membership. They kept telling him he has to pay more to be able to work out before or after 11-4pm hours. Such BS. Don't waste your money. read more

Hands down one of the most friendly and fun gyms I've ever been to! After trying out a few other gyms and fitness studios when we moved to Grass Valley, but finding them overpriced and lacking what I wanted, I found Training Zone and 6 months later am so glad I did! The Les Mills classes are high energy, easy to follow and pick up, and super effective. The instructors are some of the best I've ever had, and the queuing & pacing is perfect for all levels. Damien, Kristen and Alicia are some of my favorites! They also offer periodic personal training assessments with membership which help you track your goals. I just did my second one 4 months later and it was great to see progress. It's also not salesy, and everyone working genuinely feels like they love their job, from being greeted when you walk in to everyone being respectful on the gym floor. I can't recommend them enough, especially for $60ish/month ($50/month after completing a new member checklist!) read more

One bench press in the whole facility. 24 hour fitness has a cheaper monthly rate and it includes a pool sauna Jacuzzi and steam room with any time access anywhere. This place for the more money you only get access from 11 to 4 o'clock in the afternoon and the equipment layout is horrible. read more

I warn you against signing up with this gym. I would highly recommend you try somewhere else like South Yuba. I am honestly disgusted with how I am being treated when i notified them that I wanted to cancel my membership. Additionally I will be looking into their their recording of all phone conversations. The first staff person i spoke with said that they record all conversations and this was confirmed by Kim the manager ---- well this is against California Penal Code 632 unless all parties consent (meaning everyone on the call must be made aware of and agree to the recordings. Recording without consent can result in a criminal prosecution). Rajinder Gill or Kim-- please change your course of action on this matter. read more

I've been going to Training Zone Grass Valley 3-4 times per week for 9 months... Today I came into the gym, to find out that my membership had expired. No notice, just pay us now. I spoke with the lady in front (shoulder length dark brown hair) to discuss options. She told me I could renew at 6 months or monthly for 60 dollars a month. I asked her at that time if she could do any better, she couldn't apparently. After my workout I approached her again, asking if she could do any better than 60 dollars a month as I'll probably not be back for that price. I said 'This gym isn't really worth 60 per month and I could probably find better, but the location is good". I think I insulted her, or she became very stiff with one word answers, yes and no. Oh well, I've been going to gyms all over California for 30 years, this one has A LOT of weights, and old used cardio equipment. I am sure I can do better. Thanks for being so rigid T.Z. and not having any loyalty programs. I hope you figure out how to keep your customers. P.S. The locker rooms are tiny, no personal space when changing. Showers are fine and they have a portable, deck sauna in the locker room. read more

After lifting for 5+ years all over California, I can confidently say this is one of my favorite gyms i've trained at. The machines/equipment available are all well taken care of, all of the grips and cables basically feel brand new, and everything feels and looks clean. They even offer cable grips most gyms don't ever have! The community here is small to where you see the same people regularly and everyone is nice, respectful and always looking to help each other. The small community aspect is also is great because you rarely seem to be waiting for any machine but if you do find yourself waiting, you'll notice people are respectful of your time and don't sit on their phones while you wait (like most gyms). The workers here are very welcoming and respectful and help you with urgency. The addition of an infrared sauna this year was definitely a plus but the cherry on top is being able to go 24/7, 365 days a year once you have your (scanner card). 10/10 recommend! read more

My wife and I were in town visiting for the holidays and found training zone to exercise off our extra holiday calories. Kevin greeted us at the door and welcomed us to the facility. He was very friendly and helpful! He offered us to enjoy the gym free of charge and wished us merry Christmas. The facility was top notch, clean, and offered an extensive ray of equipment for people of every fitness level. I would highly recommend their facility. read more

My boyfriend and I come to visit family in Rough & Ready every 3 months. This gym has been so welcoming. The gym is clean, the staff is beyond kind, and patrons for the most part all follow mask guidelines and social distance. The gym is never packed and I love the environment. Nice change from our overcrowded gyms in San Diego. Will always return when out of town! Thanks guys . read more

Just joined a few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying this place. It is a bit small but the staff is friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. It's not the typical gym hangout scene that I found and didn't care for like at the South Yuba Club. The instructors that I have had so far are nice and low key. I wish they had a little more room for some more classes but they are doing what they can with the space they have. read more

started working out in November 2019, after a long period of time where I let my body grow flabby with poor eating habits and zero exercise. Got an offer for a 7-days free trial at the Training Zone... Been working out at least three days a week ever since. The staff is always positive. The atmosphere is really awesome and welcoming - coming in with a pretty low body image, I half expected all the fit jocks to look down their noses at me. Instead I found a very pleasant crowd of all ages, weights and body shapes and got nothing but encouragements and motivation. The place is squeaky clean and that's one of the most appealing things for me. As an added value, if you have kids, the Kids Zone is awesome. I pick up my 3.5 y/o daughter from her daycare after I get off work and I can drop her in the Kids Zone while I work out. She loves Miss Lisa and so she provides me with extra motivation to come and work out, because she always wants to go to the gym... :) The price is good too - even when paying a few extra bucks for the Kids Zone.... And last thing, kinda minor but still worth mentioning - wonderful showers with plenty of hot water. It's perfect. read more

When I joined this gym they had a ton of classes that made it convenient, lots of yoga and Qigong. They scaled way back on the classes and overfill them, to the point there is no room to move around as you should without running into someone else. Even if you signed up for the class you may not get in. I am very disappointed that even after multiple complaints, the management has done nothing to fix this. I also asked for another bench in the women's locker room, as had other woman. I requested for ADA (disability) reasons and the request has been ignored. I paid for a year membership for my husband and I and have not been able to go to hardly any classes for 6 months. read more

I love this gym! I considered joining the more expensive gym with the pool, tennis courts, etc., but i'm so glad I went with Training Zone. The teachers are great, the equipment/locker rooms well maintained, and the front desk staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. read more

They have a sign saying,NO MASK NO ENTRY,which is great but I noticed most of the people working out doesn't have their mask on,I brought it up to the staff,but he said well they take it off cuz it they get hot while working out,i said,they shouldn't be here if they can't handle it,also noticed people interacting while working out around four different machines and NO MASK! read more

It's like my second home. They have the best team. I've been in many gym clubs and found it cliquey and pretentious and always felt a little inferior. But this gym is so diverse in age ranges and there's a lot of classes to choose from, it's a great price and I've met some really lovely people since moving here. This is a year old fitness center that we started going to since we moved to grass Valley. It has everything we need and more. They have limited showers but one is for the handicapped. They don't have a sauna which I miss. They have a training crew to help and train you the price is ok and no contract. read more

I came home for the holidays and really wanted to try to keep up my routine. I called and asked how much day passes were and I was told $10 and when I went the following day to sign up for my pass, I was given a multi day pass to use while I was in town, at no cost!
