When you come in, you can bypass the line to get in and just drive through the cars because they already have the parking included in the ride. We did a 1 hour ride at first and the horses are super fun and nice. The workers are super friendly and they are very knowledgeable. The second time we booked a 2hr session and we learned how to groom and saddle the horse for an hour and then the second hour we rode around the ranch. It is really pretty during sunset. Highly recommend this place! I would definitely come back again. Also, 1hr rides are free for military/veterans. But don't forget to tip!

I volunteered at a horse rescue for a couple of years and became familiar with being around horses. However, I was never taught how to tack a horse or to ride. Jerry teaches Western with neck rein training. He told me that by the end of camp I would know how to tack / untack a horse and that I would be able to ride and control a horse. He was right!!! I learned everything he taught me and more! I am so grateful for my experience at JB Ranch. His horses are very well taken care of, very well. He and his team are responsible, informative, and provide appropriate training for all levels of riders. One of the main focuses is about being safe around the horses and when riding. The trail rides are extensive and enjoyable. If you want to really learn how to ride, this place is it. Jerry's place is, by FAR, the best ranch I have been to. I had my mare boarded with Elkhorn Equestrian Ranch (as it's now called) until April of 2013 when I…read morehad to put her down after a bout of colic. I received a call at 9 pm notifying me that she hadn't eaten her breakfast that day and wasn't looking well. When I arrived there, med kit in tow, it was obvious she was in an extreme amount of pain and had been down rolling for hours. I tried in vain to save her but had to make the choice to put her down by 8 am the next morning. I should have been notified HOURS earlier of her condition but, unfortunately, this lack of care had become commonplace after new management took over. No one even called me to see how she was doing after I trailered her off to the vet at midnight. The staff only found out what happened when my mom went to pick up my belongings. Stalls were often not cleaned, employees were known to fist fight on premises, my truck was damaged by an employees dog, personal items would go missing and so on. Most of the time I couldn't even find a responsible person to voice my complaints to because the new owner was always at the track. I should have sued them for negligence but I had just lost my younger brother two months earlier and the grief was just too much to handle. I simply didn't have any fight left in me. I was left with a $2,000 vet bill and my poor Abby died an excruciating death that most likely could have been prevented had I known earlier. I wouldn't board a stick horse here. STAY AWAY!!

She even told me to come get my colt and return her gelding but then refused to let me have him and stayed behind a locked gate . SHES A THEIF and a CON ARTIST. She needs to be in jail for forging his AQHA paperwork and grand theft . What was I thought a gelding with some nervousness was extremely dangerous . She neglected to tell me any of that until I had him .

The hotel was the perfect combo of luxe, jungle living. Steps from the ocean, the property was exactly what I was hoping for. The pool was a nice touch and the open air restaurant on-site was fresh and delicious. Now for the surfing and yoga! I was a beginner at yoga at the time and Cris was an amazing instructor. I felt completely comfortable and excited to push myself to learn more. The open air yoga studio overlooking the ocean was so peace during each morning yoga sesh. So, even though I have lived in San Diego my whole life, I waited until my 30s and going to Costa Rica to learn to surf. Crazy! But I am glad I did, because the rolling waves in Costa Rica were so perfect to learn on. The small groups at Pura Vida coupled with the super experienced instructors really helped me feel like I was getting one-on-one attention. I was so proud of myself for pushing through my fear and riding waves in. By the end of the week, I was both refreshed (mind) and exhausted (body). With two small kids at home and a demanding job, Pura Vida was the perfect getaway to reenergize my mind and spirit. I also loved heading into town- such a quant place with good restaurants and fun people. We also zip-lined one day, which was so amazing - Starting at the top of the jungle canopy with the most amazing ocean view, and working our way down to the beach! When I got home, I bought a surf board and began surfing in San Diego.
