Swimming pool, cabanas, slides and shaded umbrellas
    Claudia Z.

North Natomas Aquatics is a beautiful complex with lots of amenities for all, even if you're just coming on your own to enjoy the sun, tan and take a quick swim or take the kids -- it's perfect! It offers two large pools, two slides, kids play area, cabanas, good seating and lifeguards on duty. The price to get in for adults was $9 and kids is $7, which is pretty reasonable considering it's not just a basic pool facility. It's very new, modern, and has clean restrooms. The pool was clean, good temperature water and not crowded during the time I went (one our closer to closing). I recommend!!

This review is solely as a spectator at a regional swimming event and didn't go swimming here at all. North Natomas Aquatics Complex was the host to SWAGR, a regional swimming event. The parking situation was a bit tight considering the parking is also shared with the park nearby. So I feel bad for folks who were going to spend a day at the park. The overflow parking was across the street at the school when it was the weekend. They had a few options for restrooms which is nice to have. They also had showers to wash off outside. There were two pools, one smaller and the larger one for the meet. Without the tents, it's fairly spacious and lots of areas to walk around inside. The spectator area is covered, but depending on the wind chill factor, it gets awfully cold even when the sun was out. But it is nice that the bleachers were covered. Just make sure to bring blankets when the wind is cold or layer up. Overall I would imagine this is a great spot to do some swimming during those hot Natomas days.

Such a great and clean swimming facility perfect for the whole family! Outside drinks and food are allowed, pretty limited lounge chairs if you arrive later in the day, but you can totally bring in an extra towel / blanket to sit on. I look forward to coming back again, super glad I found this place and decided to give it a try so worth the $9 admission price.

Went here twice and second time was right in the beginning of school started and the toddler area was closed which is awful , I feel like that area should be open more because toddlers are not going to school and they are the main reasons parents go to such a places . Also idk why but water was very salty both times I was there, different aquatic centers were having regular water not salty, I think that's because it was not cleaned as often.

We love this aquatic center! The main pool is large and spacious so even when it's busy it doesn't seem crowded. There is a ton of shaded spots to sit. I am so happy they have cabana areas, picnic table areas under shade and other chair areas under shade. They have two slides my kids love and the little kiddie slide area is cute too. I love the large flip flops, perfect for a photo. It is $5 for kids and $7 for adults, the pool is mainly open 1-5pm. I do wish they would start taking payment earlier, they wait till exactly 1 pm, but the line did move quickly. They allow outside food and drink which is nice. They have nice showers, restrooms and lockers. They have life jackets available. They also have a lap pool that is an additional $1, but the hours are a little different for the lap pool. We will definitely be back to swim!

I just wanted to go swimming... North Natomas gets everything while we have a perfectly good pool at Natomas High that's been shut down for over 10 years(thanks for the reputation)!! Not only that but the cashier didn't want to handle the cash... By federal law(https://www.federalreserve.gov/faqs/currency_12772.htm) you can't turn cash away, they just don't want to deal with it... Cashier was completely incompetent & untrained & even turned away a regular swimmer for lap swim. Saw multiple people try to get in. The site is rigged. No where does it say they can't take cash... Or that you have to pay online(see photo), which is what the cashier said. I read the city's website. Please train your cashiers better, we still deserve to use the facilities. It's our tax money too, feeling very discriminated against... I just wanted to go swimming!! Ugh. P.s. The apartments use the parking lot & the parking lot is getting dirtier with used floaties, & beer bottles. P.s.s. We even called the city! Lucy thanks(311)... super absolute huge help... Not really

50 meter pool, not usually open to lap swimming
    Brian S.

North Natomas Aquatic Center is an absolutely beautiful facility that has two lap pools, an amazing kid's splash pad, and two water slides. It also has lockers and bathrooms. The facility is only a year old, and everything is absolutely immaculate. However, I feel like the hours/programs of the pool could be much better, and the facility is currently underutilized. There is a total of three lap swim times per day M-Th, two on Fr, and one on Sa (none on Sunday). These sessions are only an hour long, which is too short for many people's swimming programming, especially for triathletes. Also, the 50-meter pool was closed to open swim athletes (this was NOT notated on the website), and only three lanes of the 25-yard pool were open for lap swimming. All in all, "open lap swim" feels like an afterthought, so it didn't surprise me that there were not very many "open lap swim" swimmers there. This pool could much better swim the lap swimming community if "open lap swim" was offered in two-hour blocks (say, 6-8am, 10:30-12:30, and 6-8pm), and if both pools had lanes open for "open lap swim."

Overcrowded and no concession, they do have lounge, chairs and seating, but not enough for who shows up after initial opening.

Ask the Community - North Natomas Aquatics Complex

Is this place really only open May through August, 4 months of the year?

Is the lap pool heated in the fall and winter?

Do they allow food/drinks to be brought in?

I think outside food is allowed, but no glass whatsoever.

They kept a few Aquacise classes open into October for the die-hards because we were enjoying it so much : ) I'm already excited for next year!

So I was a tad nervous my older son would be in a class with younger kids. Sea Turtles Class was a perfect class for my 9yr old. He's comfortable in the water, but just needs to know the fundamentals in different strokes. Starfish Class suits beginner swimmers. My 5yr old has tiny fear of putting his face under water... But the instructor was able to get him to do it within the first 5 mins!!!!! Each class had about 4-6 kids each. The Starfish class only had 2-3 kids!! Which I loved!! Basically a personal lesson for $35 (x3 a week) I look forward to the 2 weeks of swimming lessons for my boys. As I listen to the instructors, they are very calm, and patient to the students. They are clear, and don't rush their explanations. Very impressed Doyle Pool!

So early last year I decided to make the jump from Planet Fitness to In-Shape Fitness in Natomas.I…read morewas ok with being a member at Planet Fitness but I reached a point where the amenities it was missing and that In-Shape offered were too much to ignore-so I made the switch and joined In-Shape. In-Shape is a pretty good gym-have many amenities, many classes,a lot of new equipment that I've seen them replace older machines with, this particular location is a multiple floor building and each floor has different areas for weights both free weights and machine weights.I would also say it never feels too overly crowded unless you get very unlucky and get there at the exact perfect moment. They have a dry sauna area and a steam sauna area-I heard but can't verify there is also a woman's only dry sauna in their locker room. There is also a full sized basketball court and racquet ball courts. They also have a rock climbing wall, they have multiple swimming pools, they have 2 massage chairs which are available for members to use. They have so many cardio machines-just about all types are available, from bikes to stair climbers to treadmills and others that I'm not so sure what they are called. All that being said, what I truly wanted to talk about was my favorite feature of this gym and that is the offerings of Pilates classes they have at this gym. They offer Pilates classes on Monday and Thursday evenings as well as 2 classes on Saturday mornings, which means a member could take up to 4 hours of Pilates a week if they were so inclined. This is part of your monthly membership-it's really great-not sure many other In-Shape locations offer so many Pilates classes at this time. On a personal note I would like to highlight one of the Pilates instructors Severine, she currently teaches the Monday and Thursday evening Pilates classes and let me just say she is wonderful. As a person who never took a Pilates class,I ended up signing up for her class after the encouragement of my wife who has taken her class for quite some time.I did so reluctantly thinking that as a 52 year old man, who doesn't know a thing about Pilates,it was going to be a horrifying experience. It was anything but,and that is all due to the wonderful instructor Severine. She went out of her way to make me,along with everyone else in the class feel so welcome, always offers lots of words of encouragement and plenty of tips to make the Pilates experience a better one.Her classes are always so fun,she generally goes out of her ways to make sure she knows the name of every single person who takes her class and always has a funny story to share with the class to make sure we dont get lost in the moment. She is the sole reason I have stuck to Pilates this long and the main reason I love being a member of this gym-she is a true asset to this location. In closing,if your in the market for a new gym experience I would without hesitation give this In-Shape location a shot-I feel you won't regret it.

Positives: indoor facility with tons of rooms, changing tables and heated pool. Waiting room has a coffee machine and plenty of chairs. Not sure if it wasn't noted in my account, but not a huge deal. They had I would say one amazing mommy and me and instructor but a lot of the instructors have greater strengths with the older kids. So if my instructor was out, my substitute was not the best and sometimes made it where I shouldn't have come, because they legitimately didn't know how to run the lesson. I wish overall there was just a bit more transparency on progress with the little ones, and more opportunities to test skills. From January til June I want to say he only had two evaluations where we received a paper for his progress. I'll start him back up around 2 years, but will go to another business.

Since the…read moreclass is only 30 minutes, each child ends up getting about or less than 7 minutes of actual one-on-one swimming instruction, which for me does not feel worth the $32+ per session, so that's one thing to take note of I feel like kids need more focused time in the water to really learn and improve. During some classes, part of the lesson time is spent on things that do not seem directly related to swimming (with some coaches), like extra high-fives, chit-chat unrelated to instructions, or other unnecessary activities. While it is nice for instructors to be friendly, it takes away from the limited instruction time each child already has. I also noticed that some lessons end earlier than the full 30 minutes. If the session is scheduled for 30 minutes, I believe it should run for the full 30 minutes, not 27 minutes. I do not feel the group class is worth the price because the actual teaching time per child is very limited. I do not think my child is getting enough focused instruction to really learn and progress or they'll suggest you to enroll in semi-private and private lesson which is double and triple the price for a few mins additional time of coaching. We spent a month with them and I transferred my child to another swim school.
