Staff are absolutely rude. The soda vending is not working. Sodas are hot. I tried to tell the rude miserable employee at front desk. She responded in hostile tone, "We know!" This is the behavior I was warned about. I previously reported misconduct by a male employee. Now the staff are rude. This park/playground is so cool! It has a pirate ship and plenty of swings and slides to play on. There are two sides to the park - one for toddlers and one for older kids. Either side has plenty to do like wall climbing, balance beams, monkey bars, slides, forts, swings and much more. Fort Natomas has had its ups and downs through it's birth. With the original location at jefferson park it opened in November of 1991 and burnt down by a tragic fire in june 2006. The community came together and rebuilt the park in November of 2006. Once again it was tragically lost by a fire again. The community still standing strong came together yet again and rebuilt the park November 4 to November 9 of 2008. Helping hand, optimism, perseverance, enthusiasm is what fort natomas has strived to keep it going! And a piece of the original structure is outside the walkway for all too see and read about the story of fort natomas. Also the walk way around the front of the park has tiles that were drawn on by kids and supporters to show there love for the park. Ok so now to the fun part. Fort natomas is a big playground separated for the we lil ones. They have a little fort for them. With a few baby swings and a swing for an adult to hold there baby in arms. 2 slides, monkey bar which is smaller for them to try. And a few other items that will keep them occupied and having fun. The older kid side is a like a castle built structure. Had a wall climb, net climber, 3 slides, monkey bars, swivel steps, rocking rope climb, huge stairs aorund, tire whole to climb up into, a castle like porch, a huge round sliding tire go round type thing, which has been loosened up for easier pushing. 4 swings, and a tire like swing that can hold up to 3 kids on it. A ship like mast for kids to pretend their a pirate on!! This park has a lot for kids to do, weather playing with friends, family, or them selves they will have a lot to keep them going. You can hold a party on the outside with the pavilion for tables, grills, and even a water bubbler. Bathrooms are a porto potty, but check for the library cause when there open you can use it. And sometimes the icecream truck will show up during the day. Parking is pretty good with spaces and its all for the park, the library and the community center. Few months ago they had rework the ground inside the park, it has that soft like cushion material and its brand new, all the old holes and stuff was finally torn out. Careful during the summer hot day, there isn't to much shade so the plastic parts, like swings and slide will get very hot. So grab your kids and venture out to fort natomas for playground fit for a king, queen or a pirate! read more

Excellent park for South Natomas. Huge space, enclosed, trees nearby, beautiful rose garden, next to the library, and many many hidden corners and places for your children to explore. PROS: Plenty of balancing bridges, and things to climb. From a rock climbing wall, to the spider ropes. Wonderful private ship boat to expand your child's imagination. Cool xylophone instruments, and wall activities (tic-tac-toe w/ images) and a sight/rhyming words on the other end. Two parks, both enclosed, right next to each other. My husband, niece, and her daughter spent a few hours exploring the magnificent play structure. There are so many slides, stairs, ropes, and climbing walls each item is an adventure in itself. The structure is large enough to accommodate lots of children without feeling crowded or uncomfortable. The swings provide additional opportunity for fun. The area around the structure offers a soft landing, but adult supervision and assistance is definitely recommended in helping the little ones to avoid taking a spill. The fence around the structure and security cameras add extra comfort for concerned adults. The nearby community center offers extra activities, and the nearby Library is a soothing place to relax after spending a few hours on the play structure. read more

The playground itself is amazing- great for toddlers/kids of all ages. It is huge with tons of walkways, bridges, slides etc for the kids to play on. Really a unique place- no other playground in Natomas is like this one. However, I've come here a handful of times and had two particularly unsettling experiences. I won't rule this playground out completely but it's not my top choice anymore. 1. About a year ago, I came here with my kids only to be told to stay away because there was a large dog on the loose, roaming around the playground. Animal control eventually came about an hour later. Not a big deal, but did ruin our plans to play on that playground that day. 2. This past Sunday (7/15/18) I came here early (around 8:00 AM) with my 3 yr olds to let them play before it got too hot. We were the only ones on the playground so I let my son go on the little kid area while I stayed on the bigger kid area with my other son. All of a sudden, I hear my son scream for me in a way which sounded truly scared. He comes running back, shaking, and points to the play structure. I see a (presumably homeless) man sleeping next to the entrance of the slide. He was shifting around since I suppose my son had woken him up. My son said he told him to "Go away." Now, I am an open minded person and actually work with the homeless population quite a bit so I tried to stay calm and reassure my son that it was ok and the man was just sleeping. However, it made me upset that my 3 year old was truly terrified and traumatized after trying to go down a slide on a PLAYGROUND. Also, being a woman with small children on an empty playground, I listened to my gut and rounded them up to go back home. Disappointing as they were having a really good time up until then. I know nothing can really be done about this problem, but just a word of caution to parents out there to really survey the playground before letting your kids run around, especially if it is early in the morning. read more

First time going and kids love it!! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because all benches inside play ground is directly in sun. So when it's 90 degrees out the benches are hot, sun is beaming on you and the benches with shade I can't see my kids. Also there's no restroom near by I saw a Porta potty near by but that's it. But other than than that very fun and beautiful playground. Just plan to bring a chair or blanket. read more

This park has so much potential to be BETTER, but unfortunately due to the area, it can get really ugly sometimes. The great part about it is that there are two different playgrounds, a large garden, bathrooms, and a public library. The bad part is that a lot of homeless people tend to hang out around the playgrounds and sometimes even sleep overnight. Came from SF for the wknd with our. 5.5 and 4yr old. Pros (for these, I'd give 5 stars) - fort structure is awesome/fun and very good quality. - tire swing, ample swings (including infant swing), rock climbing wall (but strangely too hard for both my kids and even myself!) - easy parking - pretty rose garden adjacent to playground - we didn't find it dirty at all like other reviewers. Saw like couple pieces of random trash (like an empty chip bag) but nothing else really. Guess we got lucky. Cons: for these, I'd give 1 stars) - eerie how empty the park was. Of course, this could've been bc it was 930am but almost as though locals knew something we didn't (some local family eventually came) - two women came with no kids, just sat on the swings and sorta played on the playground. Both kinda seemed to be on something. Then, a random third woman (again, kid-less) came by doing the same thing as the first two and also seemed to be on something. While I can't be sure what actually was going on, definitely left my husband and I a bit unsettled (but not fearful). - no shade, a real shock for a place like Sacramento where it's often super hot! Overall, we'd come to this park again but definitely at a generally benign time like early am since it seems this park attracts not so kid-friendly people; this is really unfortunate bc the park structure and amenities within are really awesome. I'd recommend this park but I'd say you just have to be more cognizant some of the undesirable visitors. read more

This place is pretty fun and right next to the south Natomas library and community center, which is why it gets 4 stars. There are two parts to this park. One, which is the part that looks like a fort and a second area that is a short walk from The fort. The fort is fun for kids but is starting to look run down. Several swings are missing and recently some parts of the fort were removed. Despite this, the fort is an awesome place to play for big kids. My daughter loves the toddler area, and there is plenty of sitting for parents. The only thing that bothers me is that there is no shade whats so ever. Something that irks me since we live in Sacramento and the summers can be unbearable. Solution? go during the evenings when it I more cool. This is prime perk time for play, most parents do the same thing. We are definitely regulars here. read more

Great castle-like playground! Very fun for older toddlers and elementary-age kids. Not so safe for young toddlers or infants. This is not the type of park where you get to stare on your phone or sit read a book. Be prepared to come and really watch your children play, it's a fantastic memory-making place for your children & you. The only reason I have only 4 stars because the bathroom is too far - all the way inside of the library, and there's pretty much no shade. read more

a year ago i would have given it 5 stars but it has gone down hill. the ground is really tore up. one visit i literally stepped in poop. on the play structure. pro- the play ground is enclosed so you dont have to be super paraniod that your kid is going to book it out of there. also there is an area for toddlers which is nice. read more

This is an amazing playground for all ages. The fort structure is huge and kids love running all over discovering new areas. There is a nice toddler area with similar fort-like structures. The bathrooms are in the library and while they are a little bit of a walk there are very clean and fully stocked. There are multiple different playgrounds in the park and a nice rose garden (out of bloom in December). Highly recommended! read more

Great set up & location. But when I have to worry about the older kids & preteens throwing glass at each other & others, cursing like a drunk sailor at the top of their lungs, all out bloody brawls (& some of these kids are as young as 6-7 yrs old!), & beating of neighborhood dogs for fun w/no parents in sight... I'm thinking I'd skip this park for my children's safety. We have gone at various times on various days & apparently these kids aren't in school & live at the park. It's just a shame :(. read more

My son LOVE the park and both my boys loved the library, even had a place to buy a cup of coffee bonus!! It's a very nice park. The sad thing is it looks like the ground is tearing apart at fort Natomas (the foam) and no one is doing anything about it. I understand things get old and wear out over time. I like that there is a rose garden as well and another playground about 100 yards away in case you want to try something else. read more

Fort Natomas has a few good days. Unfortunately is was the few first days of opening. Fort Natomas is in a good location, next to the library, but unfortunately it's been over run with loud cussing, and rude kids and "adults"!! The playground has certain parts that are destroyed. The xylophone is broken and the playground is very dirty. I found several cigaret butts and other disgusting things on the ground. If healthy is a priority for you, then I caution you to stay far away!! read more

My kids love this park! There is so much to do. There are three sections of this park. A sand/swing area in the back with some excessive stations. A toddler area and a big kid area. I like that the park is fenced in. It helps make watching several kids a lot easier. I also like their beautiful garden, lots of photo ops here lol. There are two big reasons why I only give 3 stars. 1 is that we live in Sacramento where the temps tire reaches over 100 degrees and there's no shade. The slides and swings get burning hot during the summer and the kids literally get burned using the play structures. So during summer we only go here in the morning or afternoon after it has cooled down. The second issue is that they don't have any restrooms. Kids always need to use the restrooms. So more often then not our park trip is cut early because we have to leave to take the kids to the restroom. They sometimes have a porter potty but that's gross and plus there's no where to wash hands afterwards. read more

I'm not from the area. Park had horrible customer service. I went there on a Monday to bbq (referred by another relative) to avoid the crowd. They have one dirty porta potty in the middle of the field. There were unsupervised preteens to teenagers. Unsupervised kids bully, taunted, followed & hit my 11 years old daughter and 4 years old nephew. Had to tell my kids to stay away from the playground area. Adults present who saw didn't even try stopped/intervene these hooligans. Called park security, nobody came. What are you to do when your child is being bully and beat by other minors? Natomas is ghetto and this sure proves it. read more
