We have horses…read morebut my daughter's pony is in one place and my horse another and we couldn't figure out an easy way to ride together so I splurged for a two hour trail ride for the two of us to ride together on my birthday. When we arrived it was not clear at all where to go but a boarder there pointed us toward a building. We were made to wait 40 minutes for the ride before ours to return. The ride itself was fine, a slow walk and decent conversation with our guide. But then we returned to the start on time (5 minutes before the hour actually). So our special two hour ride was only an hour twenty. I received a follow up email asking for feedback so I politely pointed this out and explained that we were disappointed. The owner offered a free lesson for our "less than perfect ride" (passive aggressive much?) but I explained that we already work with a trainer and would much prefer a prorated refund since it was a splurge and we did not get what we paid for. No response. I reached out again and he again offered a lesson, again. I asked if he was unwilling to offer the prorated refund. No response. Also, they use the same horses all day long for trail rides (7 a day!), without a food/water break, from what I could see. We have done a couple rides at Boarding on the Lake and they've been a blast! I highly recommend the longer drive and checking them out instead!

I received a call at 9 pm notifying me that she hadn't eaten her breakfast that day and wasn't looking well. When I arrived there, med kit in tow, it was obvious she was in an extreme amount of pain and had been down rolling for hours. I tried in vain to save her but had to make the choice to put her down by 8 am the next morning. I should have been notified HOURS earlier of her condition but, unfortunately, this lack of care had become commonplace after new management took over. No one even called me to see how she was doing after I trailered her off to the vet at midnight. The staff only found out what happened when my mom went to pick up my belongings. Stalls were often not cleaned, employees were known to fist fight on premises, my truck was damaged by an employees dog, personal items would go missing and so on. Most of the time I couldn't even find a responsible person to voice my complaints to because the new owner was always at the track. I should have sued them for negligence but I had just lost my younger brother two months earlier and the grief was just too much to handle. I simply didn't have any fight left in me. I was left with a $2,000 vet bill and my poor Abby died an excruciating death that most likely could have been prevented had I known earlier. I wouldn't board a stick horse here. STAY AWAY!!

Horses are housed in stalls with individual runs. The facility has a round pen, an outdoor arena, and pastures for grazing. Everyone here is very friendly, and there's a nice community vibe. Karen Young is the trainer and riding instructor there, and she has decades of experience and incredible patience working with both new and experienced riders. The lesson horses Karen uses are calm (perfect for beginners) yet also versatile (good for intermediate/advanced riders). Stalls don't often become available, so when one does, it's like finding gold.
