PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this review. Horses are my passion but life took me on a different path. I was a single mom raising my son, working on my doctorate, and working. I rode off & on very infrequently. When I was finally able to pursue riding again I started from scratch. I no longer had a horse but I had the time and the motivation. It had been several years (16 years) so I wanted to learn from the beginning. I wanted to learn basic horsemanship and work my way up. I researched local riding places for a year and finally found what I was looking for: Gibson Brother's. They not only offer family friendly trail rides but also offer Western riding lessons. My niece had never ridden so I took her on a trail ride. Her daughter is 4 - too young for a trail ride - so the wranglers put her on a gorgeous horse and led her with a lead rope down a "country mile" - she smiled so big and had the most special giggle. My niece & I had the best trail ride - every type of scenery and a great wrangler. BUT....here is the best part...the owner started this as a place where Veterans could go to help them recover from their troubles, worries & PTSD. Horses are one of the best forms of therapy, they are majestic beautiful animals and, if trained properly, want to work and do their job to help. I have first hand experience and have been around them all of my life. I have suffered many trials & tribulations and always found myself turning to getting back in the saddle. I have to tip my hat and thank everyone at Gibson brothers for their outstanding support to our Veterans. Please pass the word. Trail brothers is definitely a local gem. Set at the beautiful Gibson ranch, the trail brothers have sprawling meadows, paddocks and facilities set next to a quaint pond with goats, mini horses and cows etc. Zack and Kalea take immense pride in their ranch, facilities and horse's whom which they consider family. This isn't your standard production line trail ride where a tired and old horse meanders aimlessly down the same old trail. A truly personal experience tailored for your skill level and comfort level. This is a ranch where you can tell they care about the horses and the experience of the clients first and then "business" side of things. The ranch hands and wranglers where very considerate with any and all questions. Very knowledgeable and always right there to help. You can tell they all truly have a passion for these beautiful animals. Being welcomed with such open arms has been inspirational, a truly caring ranch. Book a trip, get out and ask questions,. Ride an amazing horse with some personality and I promise you will be coming back for more the next days. I hope they have a punch card for regulars, cause I'm hooked. Aspiring to become a place for veterans to heal one day using equine therapy, I look forward to supporting this place for years to come. I'm a clinical psychologist who's married to a Veteran and we stumbled upon this place through yelp just a few weeks ago. I initially took my 16 year old daughter and her friends on a trail ride for her birthday. We had such a great time that I knew I wanted to come back. The family owned vibe and welcoming staff/volunteers were all so great. We returned on Father's Day so that my entire family could share in the fun. Veterans always ride free and they have pony rides for any little ones below 10 years of age. As a large family (6 kids ranging from a toddler through age 16), it can be challenging finding something that appeals to everyone, but they did. The older ones loved the trail ride and the little ones received specialized attention. My 6 year old got to ride around in the stable and received a mini lesson from the owner. He's convinced he wants to be a cowboy now and can't wait to go back and work with Zachary (owner) again. Everyone is very down to earth. Their dogs are sweet tempered too. read more

Amazing doesn't even describe this place! I have been around horses all my life and when i go around to see different trail guides this place by far takes the cake.. I can tell about a place before i even get out of my car, 1) place is kept nice 2) how the horses look and 3) how nice the people are who help there, and i can say that this place out shines another riding club in greater Sacramento area! The horses are well maintained, they are all safe, and the horses looked cared for. I've been to some crapy places that don't care fortheir horses and have some pretty rude people working there. Trail brothers is an amazing place and i will always refer my people to them! A gentleman named Zach took me on my ride today and Zach is an amazing human. His love forlearning about horses and their temperament is extraordinary. He shows great horsemanship and is very passionate with what he does and is following his dream. My son has been taking private riding lessons at Trail Brothers. He's only had two lessons so far. My son had never before been on top of a horse before, but after just two lessons he's turning and stopping and learning the correct way how to hold the reigns and making great progress. They are helping his love for horses turn into a realized wish of being a "cowboy" :-) The only thing I wish Trail Brothers had was a better selection process on their website. Currently there's no way to click on a link and learn more about/purchase the kids camp option like there is for trail rides and private lessons. I'm sure I could contact Zachary with the provided information and learn all I need. It would just be an easier, faster, and more efficient to have ALL services have at least a link with more information. Other than that they're wonderful!! I surprised my brother with a 2-hour trail ride for his birthday this past Saturday. This was an unbelievably peaceful morning filled with gorgeous scenery (Gibson Ranch is truly breathtaking), incredibly kind people (from emails exchanged beforehand to day-of saddling up) and such a personal experience. Zach spent time chatting with us after our ride, sharing more about the beautiful horses, how to read their body language to know more about how they're feeling and what they're thinking. We also were able to pet and feed the horses we rode, we're given such a warm welcome, and got some great photos to remember the experience. We immediately felt at home, and are already looking forward to the next time we get to visit. My husband and I had a wonderful time today! This was a dream of his, he has talked about wanting to ride a horse ever since we met years ago. This was also a birthday surprise. His birthday was yesterday but the weather canceled our reservations. He had no clue we were going to ride horses. I've always been afraid to get near horses but today that all changed. I spoke with Zachary a few times over the phone and each time he was kind and gave clear information. I apologize that I forgot the name of our guide (female, blonde, just graduated high school, volunteer at the ranch). She was amazing and she loves those horses. She was also very kind and informative. The horses were beautiful and very calming. We will definitely be back! I went with a friend on March 4, 2021. The staff (Jenn and Corey were our helpers/guide) were very friendly and helpful as neither of us had been on a horse in about 30 years. The instruction on handling the horse on the trail was simple and the trail guide kept an eye out for us and was very personable. We did the one hour trail ride which was perfect for getting started again, but would love to do it again on a longer ride. The horses were gentle and easy to handle. I would highly recommend Trail Brothers to people looking for something different to do, and it is very kid friendly. There is something for about every age and horse experience. Of course, you are right there in Gibson Ranch Park as well, a beautiful way to spend an afternoon or day. I will be going back again for sure! read more

On July the 23rd, my granddaughter and I went on our trail ride scheduled for 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. It actually didn't get started until 3:20 and ended at 4:08. They were running late. I owed a balance of $51.09 which I paid in cash at the end of the ride. I gave the owner of the stables $60.00 in cash and he gave me back $9.00. We were joking about the 9 cents might break me so he said to forget the 9 cents. Now I see on my bank statement that I was charged another $51.09. I have called twice to get this taken care of but no one has called me back. Tried to use their E- mail, Zachary@gibsonhorse.com but it doesn't go through . The Ranch itself has gone down the tubes .Went riding 11 years ago and the pastures and surrounding land was beautiful and well kept. Better service too! read more

As someone who was born and raised in Sacramento, I have been going to Gibson Ranch my entire life but never rode the horses. It wasn't until my niece's birthday and her obsession with horses that prompted me to look into Trail Brothers. I am glad we did! We booked three pony rides that were 5 mins. Im not sure what I was expecting but when we got there the kids rode full size horses and It was definitely longer than five minutes. It was an out and back trail were we even got to look at goats and baby cows. When we were finished they gave the kids gift bags with little toys and treats. They even gave the kids horse treats to feed the horses. We had and amazing time that exceeded our expectations. We look forward to coming back and doing the hour ride in the future read more

This is an amazing family owned business! Our family came out for our first ride memorial weekend. Some of us has zero horse experience and some a little! But they walked us thru the process of aporoaching the horses, grooming them, saddling, riding and so much more! They were patient and friendly and never made any of us feel like a bother if we had questions. They were even so understanding and comforting when one of us was brought to tears just from our own fears. Not only do they make you feel comfortable they encourage you and teach you! You really see the love they have for people and their animals! Their horses are gorgeous!!! Well mannered and full of character! We will definitely be back to ride time after time! read more

I appreciate the patience Cory has with me. He is knowledgeable and seems to love what he does. Each lesson, I learn something new and I get to know the horses. This is a perfect social distancing activity and better exercise then I thought it would be. The equestrian center at Gibson Ranch, has come such a long way since new management has taken over the contract over the year plus. It's clear they really care about the animals here. They are also great at making sure the animals and guests are safe. I've also taken a trail ride recently. My daughter and husband went on a beautiful trail ride for a daddy daughter date. My daughter loved it so much she started lessons and volunteering there! We have met so many kind people who work there. It's wonderful walking around and seeing all the animals there while my daughter has a lesson. My youngest got encouraged to take a ride there and loved it as well! The horses are cared for and love to be petted. So our family has now tried the trail ride, lessons, pony ride, and volunteering. We brought my daughter and her friend here for a private lesson for her birthday. Our daughter has ridden before, her friend doesn't have much experience on horses. The instruction and attention they were given was individualized, and they both left having learned something new! They had a great time and were very comfortable on the horses before their lesson was over. The only thing keeping me from 5 stars is that neither of the instructors bothered to ask or learn the girls' names for the hour they were together. Wow! Trail Brothers is worth every penny. Upon arrival to the main stable, we were greeted by our guide and we're directed to main office where we signed waivers, got fitted with helmets. We were assigned horses and given basic riding instructions. Once we were cleared, we started our 1 hour trail ride. Our tour guide was very informative and was great conversationalist. He even took photos of our ride. We went around the property and the views were spectacular. Our horses were beautiful, gentle giants. So obedient! We sent both kids to Trail Brothers for the week-long camp, and they had a blast! The owner and staff are enthusiastic, helpful, and knowledgeable. The kids learned all the basic about horses, riding safety, and how to ride. They got to hold and visit other animals (the baby pigs were a huge hit), including a trip to watch a new horse being introduced to the herd. The kids were so excited that they wanted to stay late to ride, after camp was over. Our kids have special needs, and we were treated with empathy, respect, and were actually told that our kids were in the perfect place for them. I couldn't agree more. read more

We had the best time this weekend on a pony ride! All of the staff were nice and friendly and made us feel welcomed. Anton was our wrangler and he was exceptional! He walked my kids to see the baby farm animals on their pony ride and did extra things to make sure they had a great experience! It felt like we had a tour guide while on the pony ride. My kids had a blast and we definitely will be back! The horses were well cared for and their areas were clean. So extremely satisfied with the entire experience! This was my son's first time horseback riding and I wanted him to enjoy himself and have positive lasting memories of the day, so I did some online research on multiple options.
