Good quality diner food. Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced. I have eaten here many, many times

If I ever wrote a "small-town diner" review, this would be up there. The Trainer's Midway Diner is located right off of Route 78 in Bethel, Pa. My husband and I were going to stop at the Sheetz up the road for a quick bite to eat, but then we saw the giant "Midway Diner" sign and decided to stop. The Trainer's Midway Diner in Bethel is attached to a hotel and looks like a common spot for Truckers to sleep and grab a quick bite to eat. Trainer's Midway Diner Atmosphere: Trainer's Midway Diner is located off the main highway. The giant "Midway Diner" sign stands out, which is how we found it. The inside is lackluster and has the small-town diner feel. There are plenty of booths, tables, and a full-length bar. The tables are decorated with personal art with the specials. Everything you can imagine with a small-town diner is there. We had no clue it's called "Trainer's Midway Diner" until googling it afterward. All of the signs say "Midway Diner." Trainer's Midway Diner Coffee: B The coffee at Trainer's Midway Diner was brewed hot and fresh. The cups were tiny and I could have used a dozen more refills. Other than that, it was fine. Trainer's Midway Diner Food: The menu has everything a stereotypical diner has but no more. There aren't many healthy foods, but it has all of the basic breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. The one unique item I saw was the eggie quesadilla so I decided to order that. It came stuffed with cheddar cheese, onions, and mushrooms. It tasted like a homecooked meal. The theme of the restaurant is things homecooked meals and this did not disappoint. If you are looking for a 5-star meal, you might want to look elsewhere. Trainer's Midway Diner Serice: The waitresses are the Trainer's Midway Diner were young. We had friendly service, but we overheard most of them gossiping all of the time. It took a while for our food to come out. Overall Thoughts/Would I come back? It was a good stop for what I needed. I wasn't hungry, so it was a nice break. It wasn't anything fancy, but I would come back if I'm around again. It's a step up from fast food. If you need a hotel and diner stop along route 78, it would be a good one.

From bottom to top: home fries, cheese omelet, dark, dry rye, SOS, scrambled eggs.

Amazing food: tasted delicious, well presented. Rose, our server, was extremely friendly and attentive. My toast, dry, dark rye, was perfect. The coffee (Ellis brand) was amazing. My partner said her SOS (sh*t on a shingle) was delectable (she actually said delectable). This is a pretty humble roadside restaurant but our experience was great. I recall coming here with a buddy two winters ago and having a similarly outstanding experience. So why only 4 stars? Although our food looked and tasted amazing, it wasn't hot but just warm. Thanks for a great meal !!

Turkey club had giant pieces of iceberg lettuce, but precious little turkey for $8. Chicken fingers and fries were pretty good, but $10 for 3 fingers seemed a little pricy. Dine almost empty at 7pm Saturday night. Servers more interested in their own conversation sitting at the counter than in actually arguing their tables. Smelled like a dead animal I the ladies room. Just smelled like urine in the men's. Go to 61/78 interchange and eat anywhere else. But if you are a writer looking for inspiration in a seedy diner, might be worth the stop to see and hear all the characters. And the coffee was passable.

For what it is, the Midway Diner does an ok job. Reasonably priced food served at a reasonably quick speed with reasonably friendly servers. Like is the case with pretty much any diner, the menu is far too big, which makes me think the might have to prepare a lot of the food in advance. I don't think any diners have been particularly know for fresh cuisine, and the side of dark olive colored green beans I saw served here held up to this expectations. I got a tuna melt sandwich which certainly delivered on my expectations but didn't do anything to really wow me. I've never quite been able to figure out how diners staff up for their busy periods. With what seemed like two server and two cooks during the lunch time period, they were struggling to keep up with the volume. While this diner certainly wouldn't warrant a special trip to come here, it certainly is an acceptable place to stop off at for a quick bite to eat.

I have not been to a real diner in long time So when me and my family was looking for something to eat, we came here to eat. It was also walking distance from the hotel. My waitress was sweet and very kind. For her age, she was fast and very active. We enjoyed our meals and filled our stomachs and I left a nice tip. The next time I am out there, I will definitely come and get a meal. Thanks Midway for the hospitality.

I will say if you're in a rush to grab a cup of coffee and go, this probably isn't the place to go to. I was here around 945 on a Wednesday and they were slammed. It's definitely a cute place - smallish, but with lots of character and good food. They have a no nonsense espresso machine and they made me an upside-down dry cappuccino without any hesitation. If I lived in Ephrata I could see this becoming my main go-to for my cappuccinos. Service was friendly but a little slow. It could be our timing was bad, and to their credit the cook warned us that our order (we split one burger) would take 30 or more minutes. That seemed excessive to us but who knows, maybe they just received 10 DoorDash orders right before we arrived. Times like this really separate the good from the great restaurants. Great service would have been to not only apologize, but to also offer us a free espresso drink or an appetizer or a dessert to hold us over. Instead we had to ask for water two or three times. Over all, our experience was enjoyable, but they should consider hiring one or two more crew members.

We actually ended up grabbing one of the last tables in the place. The atmosphere is exactly what you want from a local coffee shop. It's warm, cozy, and full of energy. You can tell it's a community favorite. We ordered two crêpes and a couple of their February specialty coffees, and everything was fantastic. One of the crêpes we got was the Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake, which was sweet, fresh, and perfectly balanced. It wasn't overly sugary but definitely dessert worthy. The other was a savory crêpe with called California dreamin' with provolone cheese, bacon, spring onion, apples, and arugula with a balsamic glaze and garlic aioli, which ended up being such a great combination of sweet and savory flavors. It was delicious!! Our specialty coffees for the month were also excellent. They had a fun Valentine's themed lineup, and both drinks were rich, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I got the Not Your Sweetheart Latte and Ryan got the Chocolate Heartbreak Cold brew. If you go, one thing you absolutely have to try are their chocolate covered peanut butter balls. They have Rice Krispies in them so they're crunchy inside, and they're ridiculously good.
