The area is very open, and even when the parking lot is full the building doesn't seem that way. They have a walking track, basketball court, break area, pool, aerobics, rock wall, and full weight area. The good; I love that this place is so big, and that it doesn't seem packed. Their weight room is extensive, and has plenty of free weights and machines to fit any need. A rock wall who else has that?! And a few nice places to just relax. The bad; The majority of weight machines have seen better day's. Lot's are rusted, and cracked. Some of the weights don't seem to accurate. Also the track is a bit narrow; you really can't walk with more than one other person. And if two people are slow it's hard to pass them on the straight aways. I also noticed today that some people were running full-court basketball. Sure they had enough people, but this might be an issue if you just wanted to shoot some hoops on a Saturday. I also didn't notice any side activities like there are at my regular gym; pool, table tennis, and video games. I also hate that the use gobs of paper towels to clean the machines, what a waste "IMO" All in all its a nice gym, and serves its purpose. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. Maybe I just am use to my gym. ;)

I am also a Silver Sneaker member but today I came with my granddaughters who are out of school. The older ladies working the front desk acted like it was such an inconvenience to wait on us. Then proceeded to let us know that none of the amenities for children are available until after 4 so that older members can enjoy it. Even the lifeguards were grumpy! School is out and kids should be able to enjoy the facilities! Isn't that what parks are for? What a shame! I have family that retired from the park board and they are appalled too. I was also disgusted by the restrooms and changing room. They smelled of urine terribly!

Every station can be scaled to your ability. It's a good general workout when I'm on the road. The gym is very clean and all the equipment is in good shape. There are showers, but I haven't used them. The most attractive feature about AYB to me is the location. It's about a two minute walk from where I stay and work when in Springfield.

I've never been to a gym where an owner made me feel more comfortable. I was out of town (obviously) and didn't bring cash to buy a pre workout. He got into the machine for me a grabbed me one. Then he sat and talked to me about STL and some folks he knew from around where I'm from. Asked if I needed anything and made me feel welcome. The owner is a stand up guy and was a pleasure to meet. The whole gym was very clean, some of the equipment was a little older but WELL maintained. I was thoroughly impressed. There is quite a bit of space in there and enough equipment to keep plenty of people working at the same time. Vibe was super chill and all the workers and gym goers were very polite and cleaned up after themselves. Fast forward to later that day I lose my wallet.....shout out to women in the office that helped me check the cameras. She was super helpful. While we didn't think anyone stole it, we were trying to see if I had brought it in at all. Turns out it fell out of my pocket at the place I was staying. At any rate, she was very helpful. I 100% recommend this gym and will definitely be back when I'm in town!!!!! Thank you for making me feel at home.

The people/community was just that- soulful & caring, practicing more traditionally, focusing on the spirit of yoga vs just asana flows. We held asanas (poses) longer than the traditional "American exercise yoga" most people think of yoga. Shane instructed and shared a lot in class personally and held space for the community to share as well, if they wished. What people shared was honest, real & refreshing. He reiterated a theme of finding common ground with people of all walks of life...not what I was expecting in Spfld, MO on a Sunday morning. Quite refreshing. Quite yoga at its finest: union! Thank you Shane & Kelly (kind man next to me) for sharing time, space, energy & a loving supportive spirit. Note: I have been practicing yoga for 7ish years and have done several certifications (200hr, stand up paddle & pre/post natal) and taught in SF (very briefly) & Costa Rica. Coach Lewis is great at boxing and what he does. He makes sure that everyone who walks in his doors gets 1-1 attention and coaching from him. He's also really funny and is great with kids and youth. People come here for all kinds of reasons; to lose weight, to get better and cross-train for another sport, to become a pro boxer, to learn self defense, to stay active...the list goes on. If you come here and tell Coach your goals, he will help you get there. Just listen to what he says and DO it. Everything you do here is based off a round of 3 minutes. When you first start, it's 3 rounds of jumping rope, 3 rounds shadow boxing, 3 rounds punching bag, focus mitts, and ab work. That's the standard. If you have circumstances that need modifying, he will accommodate. When you can rock that workout, he will add more or modify your routine so you don't plateau in your progress. Pricing is very reasonable. Your first day is free - a trial day to check it out and see if you like it. If you're out of shape, I say come for a month and then see if you want to continue or not. My first day vs my first month were totally different. I think it takes about 4-8 sessions to know if you really enjoy it. Come check it out if you have ever wanted to try boxing...and REAL boxing in a gym that looks like an old school gym.

Unlike many other senior communities, Turners Rock is bright, contemporary, and impeccably clean. The floor plans are especially impressive, with spacious layouts and large bedrooms--something you rarely find in other senior living options around Springfield. But what truly sets Turners Rock apart is the warm, welcoming community and the exceptional staff. Brad, the director, is friendly, responsive, and genuinely devoted to the residents. The activity director, Will, is absolutely PHENOMENAL--charming, personable, and hilarious! He constantly goes above and beyond to keep residents engaged and entertained. One creative example: he prints "funny money" with residents' photos that they earn at activities and spend at a monthly auction. The Turners Rock driver, Lezlie, is incredible--she takes my mom to doctor's appointments and has even taken her shopping at the mall. She always goes the extra mile (pun intended!). My mom loves the variety of activities , events, and outings that Will plans. There are about six activities each day--like exercise classes, trivia, book club, Bible study, bingo, Wheel of Fortune, bocce ball, movies, and more. Residents can also take the shuttle bus for picnics, plays, movies, and restaurant outings. The on-site restaurant is contemporary and open for dining between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. (I believe). The servers know the residents by name and even remember many of their preferences. The menu offers plenty of options along with daily specials. Sometimes the chef even names dishes after residents, which is such a thoughtful touch. The desserts are always amazing, and family members often visit during meal times--just $7 for breakfast and $10 for lunch or dinner. My parents moved into the independent living section in October 2023. My dad later transitioned to the Memory Care Unit for a few months before he passed away. It was a huge relief for my mom to know he was safe and well cared for during that time. And he was just steps away, so my mom could easily visit him each day. I live in California and have stayed at Turners Rock seven times since my parents moved in. Knowing my mom is surrounded by friends and supported by such a compassionate, capable team brings me tremendous peace of mind. I'm so grateful to everyone at Turners Rock. 10/10 recommend!
