Yelp Review Update: Six Months with Cora…read more I've been going to Cora for about six months now, and the transformation I've seen in my energy, outlook, and of course, my body, has been incredible. I'm on track to being in the best shape of my life. Initially, I expected that working with a personal trainer would help keep me disciplined and ensure I pushed myself during workouts. Cora has certainly done that--but she has also surprised me by adding value in ways I didn't anticipate. First, she really listens to my feedback and ensures that I don't get injured. In the past, when working out on my own, I occasionally hurt myself by doing exercises incorrectly. With Cora, I feel confident knowing she's watching closely and adjusting my form as needed. But what sets her apart even more is her ability to tailor my workouts thoughtfully over time. She's constantly updating and refining the exercises to ensure I don't overdevelop certain muscles or throw my body out of balance--something she refers to as "sculpting." Her expertise and attention to detail are unmatched. Cora is truly a master at her craft. She's in high demand, but if you're fortunate enough to get a spot with her, I can't recommend her highly enough. Trust me, it's worth it!

I've been training with Nikki for almost 2 months now and its one of the best decisions I've ever…read moremade. I've always been pretty active until I started working. I worked so much I started to develop bad ergonomic habits, repetitive stress injuries that led to more serious problems like adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulders). After almost 5 years of trying to rehabilitate on my own I decided to hire a trainer. Enters Nikki The first thing that impressed me about her was that she was willing to meet me face to face to discuss my goals and injuries. All the other personal trainers that I interviewed treated me like a cash cow and tried to slot me into whatever opening they had on their schedule without asking me about my injuries and goals. Its only been almost 2 months and I can totally tell a difference from the first day i started. My shoulders are even freeing up. My doctor says that I'm about 85% into recovery. I go to a Chiro and a Physical therapist, but I think the recovery has alot to do with working out with Nikki. I also , love feeling stronger. Her workouts are very effective because she pays attention to form and pushes me to the next level. She's also a super nice person and has a wonderful spirit about her. Many people think that training is expensive, but for about 15 dollars a day you can buy a 10 session package. If you can spend almost 15 dollars for lunch in the FiDi, you can afford going to a trainer. Its totally worth it. I'm starting to realize that being strong and healthy is worth the money, time and effort and its money well spent if you work out with Nikki.

I REMEMBER. Now, my "workouts" consist of sitting on my ever-widening rear, going between my desk, the fridge, and "curling" pints. I try to pretend that the "cardio blast" to my apartment of one flight of stairs counts as some form of exercise. Oops.....I literally had a total Oprah Winfrey moment of intervention. My arms had become "tharms" (half thigh, half arm) and I as in morbid fascination checked out my own gut roll, I knew I was at a breaking point....either I never leave the house again and become one of those freaks that they have to break the wall down to remove from the apartment, or I seek help.... Enter Nikki. I have been to other personal trainers in the past, who have been pretty lame for a variety of reasons, so I was pretty hesitant to lay down the dough to go to YET ANOTHER. It isn't like I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO- I mean, we all know that eating fried chicken and sitting on the couch is NOT going to get you six pack abs. But Nikki was so amazing. She was totally supportive, NON-JUDGEMENTAL, made me feel really comfortable, and STUDLY, for doing even the smallest thing (like 8 "boy style" push ups). She even went out of her way to send me the work outs on e-mail, so I could do them by myself. She totally pushed me hard during out work outs, without being a weird bully- its like a rad mix of big sister and supportive coach. She was totally inspiring, and I wanted to work out with her every day. When I was not with her, seriously, for the first time in over two decades, I reached for the water over the beer out of motivation to get fit. I was really making changes! I even demonstrated my "Nikki" moves when I was out on the town- my confidence soared! Also, unlike other trainers, there was ZERO pressure to buy any strange vitamins, shakes, training packages, etc. Nikki was totally all about my needs. SHE RULES!!

Pilates was really meant to be a one-on-one type practice and while I know private lessons are not realistic for alot of people, the next best thing is finding a smaller studio that can offer a more personalized service which I think is necessary for an authentic experience. As an intermediate-advanced student I have taken a deep dive into the practice and I know which studio is truly qualified. My first experience with Pilates was at a BASI certified studio (contemporary pilates). When I moved I was looking for something comparable and began taking lessons with Kristen who is Power Pilates certified (classical pilates) which is highly respected in the East coast/NYC scene. Anyways, it's been a year since I've done one private and one group class per week and my body has completely transformed (alongside walking/cardio 5 days a week). This studio was actually an upgrade from the previous studio which I originally thought was the best. Kristen is so meticulous and particular about form that I'm never hurting in the wrong place (lower back, which is easy to strain with improper form) and she has such an eye for detail which has given me more understanding of my own body and deficiencies to look out for. Rarely do I feel passionate about such an establishment but health is wealth!!!
