When we arrived, the line was already 20 people deep. We joined in, and to our surprise, it moved pretty quickly. We ordered four lobster rolls and grabbed a seat outside in the blustery wind. In the back of my mind I was thinking, this better be worth it. Then our buzzer went off. When I picked up our lunch and saw the sheer amount of lobster they give you, my first thought was: hell yes, this is worth it. Even sitting outside in the wind and drizzle couldn't take away from what was about to be one of the best meals I've ever had. I've never seen a sandwich packed with this much lobster before. Most restaurants give you a few chunks mixed with filler, but not at Richard's. These rolls were overflowing with big, juicy pieces and just the right amount of mayo. The bun was buttered and toasted to perfection. Honestly, this was probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in my life. If you're anywhere near PEI, do yourself a favor and go to Richard's--you won't regret it.

I got the lobster roll and it was delicious. Great amount of lobster spilling over a roll and a side of chips also. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of outdoor seating, or even go to the nearby beach by the bridge to enjoy your meal! Although FYI, if you buy any beer, you have to stay on the patio attached to the store.

The food was delicious esp the chowder, lobster rolls, coleslaw, potato salad - wait- that's everything we ate. All wonderful! We are looking forward to returning!

Our group ended up having to sit separately because the waitress was concerned about not being able to walk around a larger table, which seemed unfounded and a concern that was waitress centered rather than customer centered. When asked about closing a window because cold air was affecting some in our party, same waitress said it was not possible because the kitchen needed the air... Well... five minutes later, the customers that took the table near the window simply closed the window to avoid the cold wind... Two for two! Not a great beginning. Ordered seafood chowder and fish and chips. What would you expect? Yes... seafood chowder is served first and once customers are done with it ... you bring the fish and chips. Logical, right? Not here. They brought everything together, which meant the fish and chips got cold while we had the chowder. Third strike... Anything else? Let me say this, the fried fish, in my opinion, was not great. First, you could taste "stale" oil (old oil). This alone turned me off. Second, there was little fish and a lot of breading, I'd say 70% breading 30% fish. So, if you combine oil taste with very thick breading you get what I got. To eat the fish I had to take the breading apart. On a positive note, the seafood chowder was excellent. As Luc B. review pointed out, it is a very basic family and kid friendly setting.

Cardigan Lobster Suppers is open seasonally during the warmer months and tourist season from 5PM to 9PM daily serving up their 5-Course Lobster Suppers, as well as other dishes (3 courses). Senior and youth portions (half size) are available for some entrees including the 5-Course Lobster Supper. We stopped by Cardigan Lobster Suppers on the way back from visiting East Point. Initially, we checked out and stopped by other lobster suppers earlier in the day including Fisherman's Wharf in North Rustico, but mutually decided to stop here since it was conveniently located along our route back west and we driving through Cardigan by 6:15 PM. The place was not that busy since it was towards the end of the season. They have a good sized indoor dining room (old style building atmosphere) and also an outside wooden patio in the back overlooking the Cardigan Harbour. We decided to take a seat outside since it was nice outside and no one was eating in the dining room. I already knew what I was going to order, which was the 5-Course Lobster Supper ($38.95 plus taxes), but my friend wanted to try the Scallops for dinner. However, they had no more scallops, so my friend decided to order the Half Size Lobster Supper ($25.95 plus taxes), which also comes with 5-Courses, but only 3/4 lb Lobster instead of the 1-1/4 lb Lobster. Coffee or tea is included in the price pf the supper. Course 1: Seafood Chowder (all you can eat): This chowder was creamy and not too rich and had celery, fish, baby shrimp, and mussels, sprinkled with paprika. We were also given a basket pf hot rolls with butter. I really enjoyed this seafood chowder and I asked for two more bowls through the course of supper. Course 2: Garden Side Salads: These fresh salads came with choice of homemade dressings and we enjoyed Mango Jalapeño and Raspberry Vinaigrette dressings on the salads. Course 3: Mussels: I was given a big bowl of PEI mussels (counted 32 mussels) and my friend was given half the amount of mussels. The mussels were cooked just right, little broth in the bowl. Course 4: Lobster: I was given a full lobster, which was strategically cut in certain locations for easy breaking (I still needed a lobster cracker). My friend was given a half lobster, cut up the middle, tamales already removed. The lobsters were served with melted butter and side plates with a boiled PEI potato, 1/3 corn on the cob, and long sliced carrots. Course 5: Desserts: Two dessert choices were offered including a Fudge Nut Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream and a Blueberry Shortcake, so we decided to get one of each to share. The brownie was really good which was not to rich and had crunchy walnuts baked in and the vanilla ice cream was cold and light topped with chocolate syrup. The blueberry shortcake consisted of a soft piece of pound cake topped with fresh blueberries/sauce and cool whip. Overall, the food we had was very good and tasty (all courses). The dining atmosphere outside was very quiet and serene overlooking the Cardigan Harbour, but there was a tree blocking much of the view. There were also a few older older couples also having supper outside and the best part was, there were no screaming kids here during our supper. However, since we were dining outside, the flies became attracted to the food on the table, which we had to shoo-away/swat (this could also happen in my backyard too). The service was very good, as our waitress served our courses in a staged and timely order including refills on the seafood chowder and coffees. We left here very full and very content with the PEI lobster supper.

Dripping sweat the entire time. The chairs could use some cleaning. Very greasy on touch. In terms of food, 4 stars. The clam chowder was amazing. The lobsters were good size. The muscles was okay. The salad with their special house made dressing was a refreshing touch. I'd say overall the food was decent but the ventilation needs improvement.
