Trails End continues to be a family tradition. We visited today for their Sunday bingo. My son especially loves this. We're able to play while snacking on apps, though their full menu is good too. I also enjoyed their Bloody Mary Bar today. When you order, you get a glass with the vodka and can then make your drink what you want it to be, with lots of options for an overflowing garnish. Trails End has lots of outdoor seating, much of which is shaded. The playground is one of my kids' favorites. When they get antsy, we're able to take them here to burn off some of their energy. Food and service good, however the hidden cost are or at the least be a crime. Ordered a chicken sandwich and asked for a few condiments on it. Waitress never said there would be extra charges.So we added lettuce, tomato, extra mayonnaise, pickles and bacon ( the bacon charge is understandable). Look at what we were charged for the condiments, 1.50 for 1 little piece of lettuce, 1.00 for one slice of tomato, 1.50 for 4 little pickle chips, and .50 for a little mayonnaise package the ones you get at the gas station for free. Also nowhere on the menu is there any indication of these extra charges. Nor any indication of a 3% charge for debt card use.So be careful of what you order. My family enjoys taking out boat over to their dock to get drinks and food. They have buy 2 get 1 free appetizers. The cheese curds are good (not the best I've had), the mini corn dogs and onion rings are not the best. Lots of seating inside. Bummed they don't do free popcorn anymore! They also got rid of their little shop and ice cream station inside. Not the best food but a fun atmosphere. read more

My teenagers and I came here on Sunday. Very clean place with good people. Everyone that was working was very friendly. Food was good as well. My kids took advantage of the buy 2 appetizers get one free. I wanted to take advantage of bloody Mary bar but It was to early for me to drink lol. My son got a cheeseburger, daughter got quesadilla, and we shared a large sausage pizza. Was good portions as well. I wish it was nicer outside had a nice view of the lake. Wow...fun spot with good food and service! I showed up near the end of kitchen service and they were awesome. I was waiting for the snowmobile group to arrive and they, very kindly, let me know the kitchen would be closing soon if I wanted to order for the group. They advertise an "all you can eat fish fry". Me and my friend ordered at noon. By 1pm we still didnt have our order. The 22 year old bartender never put the order in. Finally by 1:30pm we were eating. Had drinks for a couple hours and then asked for more fish. The bartender said "you guys ate two hours ago". Its ALL YOU CAN EAT. There are no posted rules regarding times, etc. Fish was mediocre at best. Staff and management were totally rude. We actually have a camp site here but are moving it immediately due to how poorly we were treated. Very unfriendly miserable people. I won $550 on a gaming machine, and this appeared to escalate the owners anger. I was willing to order another plate of fish and pay for it, but we were denied more food, cut off from drinks and asked to leave. Very bizarre situation. read more

I'm pretty indifferent about Trails End. It's a popular place with locals and tourists alike. They have food and alcohol, so that's a win. But it's really never that fun. You come here to have some drinks and/or food then you leave. It doesn't really make a serious impression on you one way or the other. The staff can be pretty good or not care. The location on Lac Courte Orielles is really the biggest draw. Other than that it's just an overall O-K place to visit on your northwoods vacation. read more

Well known for a few things, including the American Birkebinder cross country ski race, annual world lumberjack contests, and a nearby former hide out of Al Capone, the ville of Hayward, Wisconsin is nestled among pines and birches on rolling hills in Northwestern Wisconsin. Numerous lakes dot the landscape and it's a regular fisherman's paradise. Trail's End Resort is on nearby Lake Couderay, has cabins and boats for rent, camp sites and a nice lodge bar ("Michelle's") that features live music, that serves lunch and dinner daily with an emphasis on house made items from local ingredients. Entrees enjoyed included the rib dinner and a thin crust bacon-topped pizza. Both got raves. The ribs are massaged with a house-made rub before being slow-smoked and finished on the grill; many of the meats served at Trails End (including the bacon) are from the provider 6th Street Market, in nearby Ashland, WI, who have been cranking out specialty meats and sausages for 25 years. read more

I adore this place! The people are friendly and we've always had great service. The food is fantastic, everything I've ever ordered has been really good. (Pizza, burgers, fish tacos) They have a great outdoor area with a beautiful view of the lake. They have awesome TVs and sound system if your interested in watching a game, which I am. I was so impressed with Trails End Resort. The setting is amazing right at the end of the Lake. The food was amazing. Being a family of 5 we got a wide variety of food and apps and everything was served hot and fresh. The hand cut fries were well worth the little extra cost to upgrade. The waitstaff was amazing and friendly. I have to say that the biggest surprise for me was being able to sit outside. I am a big sized man and very rarely do restaurants have sturdy outdoor furniture without arms. Most of the time it's cheap plastic junk. However, Trails End had a brand new table with really sturdy chairs and no arms. There was only one, but we were able to secure it and it made my families day being able to sit outside. Here's to hoping they add more tables like the green one. read more

Great resort on an amazing lake! We most recently stopped at their restaurant in their lodge. We were able to get FANTASTIC smoked meats and good sandwiches. Food was good and place was good. I would give this place 5 stars, however, there were things that where wrong with it. Wow is all I can say. Our waiter was strange. He didn't know things that I feel is necessary for all waiters/waitresses. For example, he Didn't know about the beer they served nor the buns on there sandwiches. Other than this, the l restaurant was right by the lake with a tiny beach. They also had a volleyball net, bags, and a playground for kids of all ages. In conclusion, sadly I think my visit here wasn't the best. But the food was good!!! read more

We have been frequenting Trails End much more frequently since The Waterfront closed last year. We really had been hoping for a decent fish fry place nearby. Trails End serves up a decent burger or Reuben; the fish fry is ultimately very disappointing. Over the summer the baked potatoes have been gray and awful, frequently the French fries are soggy and cold. Last Friday my fish had been fried in either dirty oil or too hot oil. Not. Good. I don't know when they started serving fish fry family style but I still want a regular sized plate and all the sides I ordered. Instead I had a dessert plate and the rest of my food in a basket five people away The proprietor and employees are sincerely delightful, but I will never eat another fish fry here. read more

Have tried numerous items off their barbecue menu...all of them awesome. Today I thought I'd try their pizza, and discovered what I think is the best in town. Cracker thin crispy crust, tasty sauce and lots of great toppings, including FRESH mushrooms, which for some reason are hard to find on pizza in this area. My family has been visiting Lac Courte Oreilles for decades, always staying at our family cabin. This year our cabin is for sale and we stayed at Trails End Resort instead. The cabins were great: right on the lake, extremely clean and comfortable. My kids loved the beach access & there are lots of lake toys available for use. The restaurant was great, too! We enjoyed eating there after a long day of swimming, listening to live music with a drink from the bar in hand. We will definitely be back! read more

I have been coming here for several years for a fall getaway. Michelle, the owner/ manager, is always so friendly and helpful. We've worked with her making reservations and having a couple drinks at the bar. Cabins are always ridiculously clean. I seriously don't know how I've never found a bug or cobweb in all these years. The kitchens are stocked with every pot, pan, and utensil you could need. Each cabin has a fire-pit - love me some campfires and smores! :) free firewood too! The lodge is so fun. They have great bands Friday and Saturday nights. The crowd is lively, drinks are strong, and I only have to walk a short way 'home.' I can't say much about the fishing/ boats and things like that but I suspect its just as great as everything else at the resort. Extra Note: bring you own towels! read more

Great spot on the lake with a very casual atmosphere and friendly staff. We had chicken tenders & a cheeseburger with fries. Hands down one of the best bar burgers I've ever had and the tenders were your typical cf but they served them to us with some fantastic sweet & sour (probably from their appetizer menu) that made them even better. Not trying to pick on the establishment but in the restaurant had some of the worst service i have ever encounteted. We had party of 14 plus. Took hour and 20 min to get food and when it came it came in increments over another ten minutes and it was cold. drink service terrible, the mgr came over asked us what we wanted him to do, he should have known what to do. $250 bill no way worth it. will not go here again. maybe service and food better other nights or they have so much local customers they dont care but we wont spend another nickel there read more

This place is really fun being on the lake an all, but the bar & grill service is horrible! Dont expect to get waited on even if your the only table on the deck. The waitress just walks right past you as if your invisible (has happened other times). And don't expect to get any type of good customer service from the young twenty something bartenders.
