The Quality Inn: A Case Study in Thermodynamic Failure…read more * The Atmospheric Conditions: The pool area isn't just a leisure space; it's a self-contained weather system where the ventilation has been "optimized" for profit, resulting in indoor glaciers that would make a National Geographic photographer weep. The poor air circulation in addition to saving money, is no doubt generating revenue for pharmaceutical companies treating all of the mold allergies. * The Biological Indicators: That signature "clean pool" smell is actually the olfactory evidence of a thousand local toddlers using the facility as a public latrine--a chemical reaction of chloramines that serves as a warning to anyone with an intact immune system. At $7 a local kid for a whizpool, it's surely a profit center, and you can certainly smell the difference. * The Culinary Experience: Breakfast consists of "food-like substances," specifically chunks of microwaved egg that appear to be weeping for their own existence and pork sausages swimming in a reservoir of grease and existential dread. * The Lobby Ambience: The computer station is guarded by a territorial child-in-residence who has seemingly aged into the upholstery over the last two years, ensuring that "tacky" remains the primary aesthetic. * The "Coffee": A beverage so weak and feeble it qualifies as a crime against humanity. It isn't brewed coffee in the way that we've all come to expect; it's a hot, wet insult served in a cup, located--fittingly--in a completely different room to distance itself from the concept of actual food. If you ever find someone whose teeth are on fire, and you are fresh out of urine, this coffee is a great substitute...

When one enters....you immediately know you are in a Funky place ! We took cabin 3. Four adults and 2 small girls. The kids loved it but we laughed. A good lesson in online photos. You cannot see the crud or smell the blankets ! 2nd - We were told not to use the beach because the " Main Lodge people " have it. We came for the beach ! We have kids and need sand and swimming ! We could use our side.....weedy water, no sand, rocks, and creaky pier ! It rained anyway ! 3rd - no toilet paper, no dish soap, crusty pots and pans, seedy bathroom and old shower. 4th - smelly comforters, we were worried about pillows. NUMBER 5 !! MICE AND A RAT ! They gave us a trap ! Of course, we caught the critter. But...the small one ! I saw the big one and heard him run across the floor at midnight. He chewed into our food bags too. I can't go on forever...if you want to stay here, inspect your cabin in person. See the duck tape, holes, hanging curtain things, beat up lawn chairs, etc. That's all I'm sayin'. Alot of money for 3 days. David was nice...but there was way too much CRAZY. I would not go back or refer a friend for this cabin. We did not see the other cabin interiors.

We had an excellent stay at this clean, well-run campground. Super friendly and helpful owner, she…read moregave us extra printed information about the area when we told her we were there to explore nearby waterfalls. The lake is mesmerizing at midnight when the mist rises off of it in the moonlight. We were told there were otters and beaver in the area, and we saw a muskrat right off of the pier. On the lovely drive up we saw some deer, bald eagles and a black bear. Make sure to follow the directions to their property that they send to you when you reserve. You'll be on a paved road most of the way, but then it turns into a gravel road. If it's been raining, there can be a gigantic puddle of water that you'll have to drive through; it stretches across the entire gravel road. It is passable; it just looks really scary, especially if you're in a big RV. It took three days for that puddle to dissipate. Bring bug spray for sure because there is water all around the tent sites after a rain. The playground and outhouse bathrooms were closed due to Covid, but the main bathroom/shower building was open and clean. Not a high-end restroom, but not rustic either. Be aware of their cancellation and no-show policies. There are no refunds, but they give credit instead. We changed from an RV site to a Tent site and so had a little over $20 coming to us. So we used that credit to get three $6 bundles of firewood instead. Since it rained the day we got there, the firewood was damp. It took us about an hour to get our campfire going the first night. We had to shred up every cardboard box we brought with us to use as kindling. So we went into Mellen the next day and bought some firestarter logs at the convenience store.

We made our reservation over the phone, I knew by sound of the womans kind voice and time she took to answer our questions before we reserved our site... it was the right place to stay. It was a very quite campground, plenty of "per-pay" wood. Beautiful small lake. We rented a pontoon for a couple of hours, no fish... but beautiful views. Also, we were close to Copper Falls State Park to do some biking/hiking. Would stay again, the owners were wonderful !!!
