I'm so glad we chose Mill Iron. The trail was breathtaking, reaching a couple thousand feet in elevation with stunning views of the Grand Tetons. It's very beginner friendly, and even the kids, both 9 & 11 years old, in the other our group had no trouble keeping up. We did the group ride instead of a private one, but it still felt personal and small with just one other family, we were a total of 8. Cole, our guide, was fantastic. He kept a safe, easy pace, took breaks for us and the horses, and even took group photos once we reached the top. A quick heads up for those considering the 2-hour trail ride: you don't get off the horse the entire time, so expect a little soreness or stiffness by the end. But honestly, it's so worth it. The staff is kind, professional, and clearly care deeply for the horses. We learned that each horse only does one ride a day to avoid being overworked. If you're on the fence about trying horseback riding, take this as your sign. Go for it, you won't regret it.

We rode up 2000 feet for incredible views in Bidger-Teton National Forest. The views were stunning and all of their horses are well taken care of and well trained. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend doing a tour with Mill Iron Ranch.

This was my first time staying in an honest to goodness Conestoga wagon, and it was truly luxurious. Not words I ever imagined typing. Pulling into Moose Creek Ranch was not immediately remarkable, but beginning to walk the grounds, I felt the persistent mountain breeze, heard the babbling Trail Creek, and saw the peaceful natural surroundings and well-manicured grounds all commanding my recognition. Then there were the comfortable environs of the ranch buildings, inclusive of the cozy lodge room, a game area, and a spot for breakfast, all with a chill music soundtrack wafting through. The staff were friendly through and through. We took advantage of a trail ride with Biscuit, our wrangler, the morning of the 4th of July, and enjoyed his capable, humorous guidance through a forest trail near the Ranch, capably tailed by Rooster the resident corralling canine. And now back to the Conestoga wagon. These things boasted bunk beds and a king size, with a full bathroom, small sitting area, pre-stocked mini bar with room for your own items, plentiful plugs/USB ports, and a highly capable mini-split AC system. Ridiculous (in a good way)! If the original Westward Ho movement had these things, Manifest Destiny would have hinged on thread-count, and we'd have never made it past Ohio. These things would be the Airstreams of the 1800s. Loved the experience. This might be the experience you needed, even if you didn't know it.

The horses we were on were Big Kent and Big Tex- both were great and they did well for us and we ( experienced riders) loved it that we actually had to ride them. Horses are nice and fat/healthy. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area

They are the ONLY horseback riding with permits to enter Tetons and Yellowstone . Other Yellowstone horseback riding is through xantera or whatever the main Yellowstone commercial Company that manages all the hotels/restaurants/staff for general stores, very Disneyland/commercial. Wilderness Trails is family owned, rural, one of a kind. We felt like a family on the prairie. They literally plop horse corrals and tents and cooking station in the middle of grand Tetons and Yellowstone on a meadow/prairie like plot of land. All the staff live there in tents and some campers and so you basically join "their family" and live that life. They had a professional chef that came from a Michilin Star restaurant (he was not technically a Michilin chef) but food was amazing and so well Done! We got to eat with our horse wranglers and the chef and felt like part of their family. They all had their own dog and my kids had so much fun running around with all The doggies:) they had a warm outdoor like shower and you are in the middle of nature bathing amd my daughter said it was the best shower of her life! It was my 7 year olds first time horseback riding and she did just fine! My other kids were 10 and 12-they wanted to "live there" and asked if we could have their bday parties there. Was worth every penny! Wish we planned to stay longer

If there's no traffic it's another 7-8ish minutes to the town of Jackson. We booked the Alta Vista house and a condo booked for 5 nights (due to the size of our family). The house was beautiful and had an amazing view of the Tetons from a large backyard. We have kids and they were beyond accommodating with having multiple high chairs, cribs, and a pack n play in the house ready for our arrival. The house did not have air conditioning which I think is fine for the majority of the time, but it was in the high 80s while we were there and there were a few nights that were incredibly hot upstairs. They did have multiple fans in every single bedroom which was nice. This wouldn't stop me from staying there again but a few things that I was surprised about... -3 of the 4 bath tubs had the stop drain removed so you couldn't fill them for kids to take a bath -one of the closets had an opening to the attic and there was insulation kind of hanging down out of it -the beds were all made with an insane amount of blankets, comforters, etc. I'm assuming they use the same bedding year round -the hot tub was closed for repairs, but no one seemed to be repairing it -it's $75 for a key to turn on the firepit... We booked the horseback riding online for 4 people. Unfortunately one person was unable to make it and we were able to have another family member take his place. Our guide was Hannah and she was amazing! She was incredibly helpful, shared a ton of facts and information along the way, and was really kind. I would definitely go back - just for the ease of everything and the amazing views knowing that there are likely a few things to keep in mind when booking.

Ours was the upper unit which is 2 bdrm unit with an odd jack-and jill bathroom connecting the two rooms, and no kitchen or common sitting area. We immediately drove back to the front desk and asked "where is our kitchen and living room?" They said that is only for the lower units. Nowhere is this clear when you book the room. In fact their website summary and pictures of the units (pic included below) are deceptively mixed so that it appears that you get what you would expect from a "two bedroom suite with kitchen". We asked them to unlock the shared door between the upper alnd lower unit so that we would have a small gathering place and a kitchen. They only did this for an extra fee, ignoring our complaint that this was falsley presented on theri website. The lower unit had a musty old smell, as if the unit not is not often used. There was a sunken area living area, and a murphy bed in what they call the "dining room". Upstairs, one bedroom had a comforter with a large spot (hand sized) of dried blood on it (it had been laundered, but not fully cleaned). The continental breakfast that we pikced up at the front desk ( a separate building) is a boxed breakfast with two hardboiled eggs, an oj, a small, hard bagel in plastic wrap with some cream cheese. and a cheeses stick. It was the same box for all days. We only picked them up on the first day. We took one look and didn't eat anything. We checked out a day early because we were unwilling to spend another night there. The front desk people seemed cordial enough, but they appeared to be ready for the complaints, as if this is a common occurrence, so we didn't bother and just left. It goes without saying that I strongly encourage others to look elsewhere for accomodations in this area. --------- Additional comment: I had saved part of the breakfast box and just discovered that the items I saved in our cooler had expired (cheese and OJ). I can't imagine what that says about the bagel, cream cheese, and hardboiled eggs that were immediate throw-aways! Downgrading form 2 stars to one star! Don't stay here.
