TJ's seems to be everything I hate, and I did hate it, at first. The gimmicks like the "crewmembers" and their Hawaiian shirts, the cute little names for the food, the strange artwork in the store and the flyer. It didn't take long for me to come to love the place. If big corporations have to take over the world, they should at least model themselves on TJ's. Nothing cold and impersonal here. The employees are actually pleasant and helpful. When they call me by my name, it is because they really do know me, not because they read it off the credit card slip. The scale of the store is just right. Much smaller than a supermarket but still manages to hold nearly everything I could want. The prices are another reason to shop at TJ's. I have seen the very same chocolate truffles that TJ's sells for $4, sold for $12 elsewhere, as just one example. Yes, it can be hit or miss with some products, but you can always ask the employees for their recommendations, and the other shoppers are helpful as well. The friendly atmosphere pays off. My must trys: Tarte d'alsace, carrot cake, peanut butter cups, frozen cherries, Mandarin orange chicken, Valrhona 71% chocolate bar, Niman Ranch BBQ ribs, chocolate ice cream bars, Manchego cheese. read more

I know if you go to Trader Joe's, you are going to get high quality. This location is no different. All the delicious and healthy options you could ask for, without having to worry about certain evil additives and preservatives. The prices are even reasonable compared to what I was expecting. The staff at this Trader Joe's is especially helpful and friendly, and are quick with checkout and help alike. Personally, I like TJs better than Whole Foods, but to each their own. read more

Terrific values, quality, innovative merchandise, and a fun shopping atmosphere. We used to pay $11-15/lb for coffee, but Trader Joe's coffees now fill the bill half that or less. The frozen entree items have been reliably good. The Hearth Oven Seeded Multi-Grain breads and wide variety of other baked goods, Valrhona chocolate bars (a dollar cheaper here than there!), Sunflower Nut Butter, Joe's O's, and Chile-Lime Pistachio nuts are among our favorites. You won't find everything at a Trader Joe's but you won't shop anywhere else for what you do go to a TJ's for. We have found a good variety of Organic, Natural, Sustainable food, health, cleaning & pet products. We used to buy primarily at Whole Foods, but Trader Joe's is so much less that we have scaled back Whole Foods without suffering loss of quality. The produce is not a broad variety, so don't plan on getting it all here. Also, this store cannot offer beer or wine, courtesy of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and it can get crowded, predictably on weekends and around any holiday, but the atmosphere is always fun, so don't let that stop you from going. read more

The only reason for the four-star review was that I have to drive 88.3 miles to get here ! Please bring a location to the Scranton Wilkes Barre area ! Some of us eat more than pierogis or kielbasa ! Wide selection, knowledgable and friendly staff, always have my freezer bags ready when I head to Philly because this is a mandatory stop on the way back. The snack and nut selections are awesome, produce is very fresh and meats and cheeses excellent. Please help the environment and move north so I don't have to burn all this gas to get down there ! read more

This is absolutely a five star store and company. I haven't been to any other trader joe's so I'm not sure how the size and selection compares, but it's so perfect to me as is! The staff is super friendly, there's always a bunch around ready to help but they're never ever pushy. The store always seems really stocked up to me, and everything seems laid out pretty well. It is a small store, so I try to go during the day when it's not as busy as the aisles can get a little crowded. My faves are the decently priced produce, the delicious dips (they have a new low-cal spinach and kale dip that'll have you forgetting what spinach and artichoke dip even is), but stay away from the sushi. It's cheap but not very good. The location is TERRIBLE though. It's in a huge, long shopping center with very shallow parking lot columns and the parking and driving around is horrendous. I want to take away two stars just for that, but that seems mean. Just try to avoid during the 5-7 rush, and also the 11-1 lunch rush. read more

Within the last year I've become a Trader Joe's fanatic and this is my go to location! The staff is always super friendly and I enjoy that they have fun at their job. Last night I arrived around 8pm thinking I wouldn't find much since it was the end of the day, but their shipment just arrived so fresh food was getting stocked as I walked in. Generally I'm not one to ask for them to check on items for me, but on this visit I didn't ask once, but TWICE and they were more than willing to accommodate! This experience stood out to me in particular because they didn't just go grab backstock off the shelf, but actually checked stacked and unopened boxes for the products I needed! Now that's great customer service!!!! I recommend going early morning or an hour before closing for the least amount of foot traffic, but it's Trader Joe's so any trip, busy or not, is worth the trip! read more

Trader Joes has a lot of unusual stuff that's cool, but it is not really a grocery store as we know it. It has a lot of gaps which make it necessary for you to shop at a more full-line place. Strengths include unusual and cool frozen foods, packaged snacks and fruits and nuts, and cool sauces in jars. Weaknesses include a lack of variety of fresh produce and meats. They don't sell paper products either. This store seems well managed, it is clean and spacious. The employees are friendly. read more

This location was my first real TJ's experience, and because of that I will stop at every TJ's I see. Others have already touched on the good points, but the short version is that I can (and do) buy about 90% of my groceries here, and would love to buy 100% (but, as noted, a few areas are lacking). Not everything in the store is a winner but they are cool about taking something back if you really want to (though I don't, unless something was "bad", but that has never happened). Sure, being in this wonderfully backwards-towards-alcohol state you miss out on TJ's fantastic adult beverage selection (and prices), but that is a fight for another day. read more

One of the better TJs I've been to. The location kind of stinks (that parking lot is a nightmare) but the staff are friendly and the selection mirrors any of the other smaller TJs. If you live in the area, you will like it. You can do most of your food shopping here, but I'd recommend only doing "spot shopping" as it is a bit pricey and most day-to-day items will be similar at Acme or Pathmark. read more

Very reasonably priced organic foods, which I give a double thumbs up to. Staff is very friendly and helpful--but I'm pretty sure that is a prerequisite to working in any Trader Joes. They always have samples of something out and ((*TIP*)) most people don't know this but you can actually ask them to sample anything and they will open it up and let you try the product. Also, my dog is obsessed with their jerky-like treats with the black lab on the bag.. Sometimes the store gets really crammed because the aisles are small which can be frustrating. The parking lot can also be a bit of a pain if you're there during lunch hours. read more

I pity the people of Wayne, PA! Your Trader Joe's is a shell of what a real TJ's should be! On a business trip in Wayne for the week, so decided I'd swing by and pick up some hummus or sushi for dinner. Alas, there is nothing of the sort at this store! The shelves were understocked, there was no wine in sight (must be a PA thing) and they carried only about half of the non-frozen items that I purchase. Plus the staff were rude, the lines were enourmous, and the store itself was just meh. You people of Wayne have no idea what you are missing out on. read more

Yes I am updating my review just so I can recommend the sesame sticks at 2.29/ bag. They are amazing and you can't et them elsewhere. It's happiness in plastic packaging. read more

Another great Trader Joe's, in a very convenient location to boot. I stopped by here a few times to pick up some quick lunches (sushi, wraps, etc) and everything was as good as I expected. Lines moved pretty quickly, and there was tons of parking too. One downside is the lighting, is it just me or is it ridiculously bright here? My peepers were killing me when I left the place. read more

I'm spoiled. I just arrived in the area from San Francisco, where the Trader Joe's staff is almost always a cheerful bunch. Maybe suburban Philly is different on the friendly scale, but that matters to me. Most things are similar. I know that what they stock depends on local vendors and other issues, so I didn't expect the exact same things on the shelves. However, I did want the same hyper-friendly level of service. On my first visit, I got that. He as friendly as I'm used to. However, I'd arrived in Philly that morning and realized I'd left almost all of my toiletries like lotion, face wash, and toothpaste behind...ooops. It was a rainy night and I'd already driven around to make sure I knew where the train station was (I had to get to NYC the next morning). I just wanted a toothbrush and toothpaste, so I could get back and rest. I remembered that Trader Joe's also had a good selection of toiletries and that they closed at 9pm. It was about 8:45pm and I was just a couple of minutes away. I went back, grabbed a toothbrush and toothpaste and got to the checkout. My cashier was civil, at best. The next evening I went to eat one of the cheese sticks I'd bought. Yum! But, oh no! Mold had gotten to them, but they'd been in my fridge for a day! Not good. I took them back the next morning. I walked in and asked where to take a return, a lady on staff that I'd asked directed me to a desk at the end of the registers. The person there, however, told me to just find a replacement and take it to a register. I apologized and said that someone had directed me to him. He curtly replied that I needed to take them to the register. Maybe it's just different styles of communicating but where I was feeling light-hearted, his reply felt heavy. I walked away, got a replacement and exchanged them at the register. I LOVE Trader Joe's food and other products. However, my feeling about my new local Trader Joe's isn't great. read more

This store is located at the Gateway shopping center next to TJ Maxx. It's always wonderful if you can hit both destinations in one trip. =) What I like in this store: 1. Delicious sliced pineapple and mango 2. Several Korean products: fresh noodle, kimchi, marinated korean bbq meat 3. Their own cereal brand 4. Cheese selection 5. Wild Blueberry pie 6. Mochi! 7. Tons of dried nuts and fruits 8. Friendly staff! Definitely a good place to shop for food! read more

Clean store, welcoming staff, decent selection, and fresh produce. This is a smaller, non-freestanding location in a strip mall and can get crowded. Still, there's ample parking and the nearest location to western Philadelphia suburbs. read more

I have had two incidents at this Trader Joes that prompted this review: 1. I applied for a job here. At the time, they were not hiring. About two weeks later, they had a big sign, "NOW HIRING." I went to the desk to check about my application, and a woman at the desk (who did not even look up at me for the first part of our exchange) said that so-and-so is reviewing the applications and will get back to me. Then, she looked up at me, raised an eyebrow and said very pointedly, "Actually, I don't think we're hiring any more people right now." There aren't really many ways one could take this, except to mean, "You're obviously not good enough to work here for whatever reason I have in my head." Nice. 2. A woman who WORKS AT THE STORE both assumed I was gay and invited me to her church while ringing me up for my roasted red pepper soup and cat food. On second thought, that is a pretty gay, Christian purchase. I guess she was right on to be proselytizing on the clock. read more

I dropped into this Trader Joe's on a weeknight when I was closer to it and it was a hour before close. This one seemed to have quite bit more variety that a couple of other ones that I have visited. Parking here is a bit easier due to its location in a shopping center with plenty of parking unlike the nightmares in a couple of the other Philadelphia based TJs. read more

I must of went on a off day or the folks of Wayne PA have no idea what a real TJ's is. The customer service here was horrendous. There was allot of out of stock items on the shelves. Was really hard to find a friendly associate to help me. The cashier acted like I was a burden being in there line and did not look like the cheerful checkout folks I have encountered at other TJ's around the country. Restrooms were not clean here either. Plus side is they are in big shopping center with plenty of parking available. You could even get away with parking a big rig here to shop. Next time I am in the Philly area I will try a different Trader Joe's more than likely not going back to this one. read more

I heart this TJ location as it's near my place of work and just off the freeway for a quick exit on 202 or 76 which can be important when you have a bag full of TJ's finest frozen cuisine. Only 4 stars bc on more than two occasions they've been out of my grocery staples like unsweetened almond milk and fruitsauce (how dare they?!) and the parking lot is super crummy and hard to get in or out of, not TJ's fault but still sour point. The staff is awesome and fun, always willing to give suggestions and plugging their fav products, they are usually right about what to try. Also all TJs have the policy of if you don't like it, bring it back .. half eaten, used, etc. Awesome customer service here, great floral inventory, plus a wine & spirits just three doors down! read more

This was our first time at this grocery store. We visited due to our changing meat based to vegan diets. Their supply of vegan ready made options is second to none. They have a list of their vegan offerings available upon request. We spoke to one of the captains Chris Brown who gave us an excellent breakdown of the difference between vegetarian versus vegan options. The only setback is the store was soooooo busy on a Sunday afternoon but it ran seamlessly and flawlessly. We highly recommend this store!! read more

Smaller TJ than most I've been too. Went on a Sunday afternoon and the produce aisles were a little bare. But the team was restocking. Kudos to the staff for being super efficient and quick. The line was quickly becoming a cluster mess and within seconds four more registers opened to handle the influx of customers paying. Philly's store is usually always out of cauliflower rice. This store had tons of bags. read more

I love the Trader Joe's in Gateway. I try to get there early in the morning before it's gets too busy. They are reasonable priced and I love the variety of products. The service is impeccable. Everyone always has a smile and is willing to help. I love their kettle corn and the mini Brie packs. read more

Great to have a Trader Joe's nearby. I must say, I miss the Trader Joe's wine. (I just moved here from another state). Apparently Pennsylvania is still in a state of prohibition, since Wine, beer and spirits are controlled by the state. I have to remove one star because this Trader Joe's does not serve it's delicious red wine (that is served in other states), not even the two-buck chuck. :/ read more

Let me start by saying that I'm a huge fan of the Trader Joe's grocery store franchise as a whole. However, this Trader Joe's in particular isn't my first nor my favorite, but ever since I was employed for a company in the Chesterbrook area, it's been the one that I visit most frequently. Whenever I forget to pack a lunch, I'll sacrifice my entire lunch break driving to and through the poorly designed Gateway Shopping Center parking lot just to go to here. Now, at first I found myself settling for some of my TJ favorites, like their frozen organic entrées. And I know, I know, it sounds like a total contradiction, but it makes me feel like I'm saving time and eating healthy. Plus, their prices can't be beat. I mean, I love "Amy's" frozen meals as much as the next pretend-healthy guy, but Trader Joe's is literally a fraction of the price. So anyway, after a while I start to get a little nuked-out on microwave food and find myself wandering toward the refrigerated case with all of the pre-prepared food. It was at that point that I bought my first $3.99 salad. 'This is genius!' I thought. 'This is like half the price that Saladworks is charging next door, and look at these ingredients!' I remember texting a picture of my "Super Spinach Salad" to my girlfriend pointing to the bolded ingredients on the front: Quinoa, carrots, cranberries, chickpeas, edamame, pumpkin seeds, and a carrot ginger miso dressing. After this, I took the $3.99 salad section by storm. I wanted--no, I needed to try them all. Then... I tried the "Chopped Italian Style Salad". I remember being particularly hungry that day, and eating it rather quickly. I also recall ignoring the slight funky taste by lathering the salad in the spicy yet sweet Dijon Parmesan Vinaigrette. Then, I sat back down at my desk, and then I began my work, and then I ran to the bathroom. Now, I know people usually visit Yelp with an appetite, so I'll spare you the details and just say that I spent most of my shift in a bathroom stall. I have yet to return to the Wayne, PA Trader Joe's, but that isn't saying that I'll never return. In fact, I might go there tonight, my girlfriend has been looking quinoa, and word on the street is that TJ sells it pretty cheap. However, I think I'm going to stay away from their pre-prepared foods from now on. Besides, where is that food pre-prepared? I know for a fact it's not in the store. I dunno, I guess it's a mystery. A mystery much like what the rest of those $3.99 salads tastes like. Sigh. read more

I love TJ's and this location is no exception. The parking lot is always packed if you come Monday - Friday over lunch though. Excellent products especially frozen foods. read more

Wow.............only 44 reviews as of this writing. I thought I'd be number 201 at least. This is really a great neighborhood grocery store. I'm so glad it is nearby. It's not overwhelming like Wegmans................although you probably can't get everything you need to live on for the week, it's a great place to stock up on what they have. I love their lemon kitchen hand soap. The peanut butter filled pretzels, the chocolate biscotti and their frozen selection for dinner add ons. They have a whole selection of cookies and candies. Do you like lemon? Try the lemon crisps. And their selection of cheese is large and at pretty good prices. Sometimes it gets really crowded, and every cash register has a waiting line, but it generally moves quickly. The people here are very down to earth and friendly. read more

First time coming to this store. Had a pleasant experience navigating the store. Prices are great. It was made especially excellent because Bard the cashier who helped us gave us a rundown of how everything goes and she was super friendly. Will DEFINITELY be back. read more

The parking lot is a nightmare. This Trader Joe's is in a shopping center in an awkward location right off 202. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The store is a decent size and has a great produce department. They also have an awesome variety of gluten-free breads. read more

Stopped by to stock up my freezer. TJ s stuff sure makes life easy and healthy too. Love that their sun block is super cheap because it's the only one our family can use with sensitive skin issues. I have always LOVED TJ's in Wayne, PA--but am having a hard time giving 5 stars lately because something seems different there. I can't really put my finger on it. The energy has been different, as in, people used to be so happy here and now it feels dispirited, like the employees aren't happy anymore and customers aren't singing to the music and bopping around. Don't get me wrong, it's still the same great products but that fun atmosphere I looked forward to grooving to is missing. Maybe it's the state of the world in general. Who knows why but I sure miss my old TJ"s! read more

I love Trader Joe's for just about everything but my favs are the sweet potato tortilla chips (goes great with guac), the frozen mandarin orange chicken, & the sliced sourdough bread. This location is well-stocked and the shelves are organized. However, it is ALWAYS packed and sometimes I have trouble navigating aisles or simply getting to the items I need. Only knocking a star because the restocking crew seems to want to desperately avoid being asked questions. It doesn't hurt to put on a smile and redirect us to someone else that can help vs. looking frazzled and irritated. On a brighter note, there's always plenty of registers open and the cashiers are quite fast so the lines move quickly. There's also always plenty of yummy-looking goodies near the checkout area and I can never resist adding a chocolate bar to my cart! read more

This is the best Trader Joe's I've been to yet! The aisles were wider than other locations, the staff was super helpful, and the parking lot wasn't a complete mess in my opinion. The store itself also seemed bigger than other locations I've visited, which is nice. There were a few times when things would get jammed up in the aisles, but it seemed to clear up quickly. This isn't the closest location to me, unfortunately, but if I'm ever back in the area I will be sure to visit again! read more

This Trader Joe's was very different than the one I am used to, but it was good. It more of an open format, and larger than the one I used to go to over in Back Bay on Boylston. It is not as big as the one in Cambridge, but it had room. There was something about this one that kept me from giving it five stars, but we were only there for about 10 minutes. It is in a great plaza that has a variety of things that you might visit all in the same outing. Also, King of Prussia Mall (one of the best malls ever) is literally down the street. Get the ring of sushi for $5.99. It's a bit different, but good! read more
