ShopRite was a favorite shopping experience at that location for many decades, however, the new Acme is hard to beat. The layout of the markets seems to be identical, the space is glistening clean and well stocked, and the prices of many products were shockingly low, such as Stouffer's individual frozen meals: $3.29 this week which is at least 50-cents cheaper than nearby Giant and Weis. (It's been 2 years since I saw those dinners so affordable.) Deli-prepared foods are beautifully prepared and appropriately priced. I treated myself to ready-meals of barbecued pork ribs and lemon capellini salad with arugula and tomato and both are delicious and ample enough for several meals. Neither was swimming in grease as one often finds elsewhere. Today's shredded roasted chicken was a dollar less per pound than at Giant and Weis. (Chicken soup is on the stove.) Helpful employees made today's experience pleasant, including the woman in the wine and beer department who treated me as if I were the most important person in the world. The produce, seafood and meat departments appear to be flawlessly well-maintained. In the same mini-mall is a Joann's Fabric shop, Mexican and Pho restaurants and a seafood monger. Across the street in another mini-mall is Dollar Tree, Harbor Freight, TJ Maxx and more. My weekly shopping route has now changed. For the burden of several more miles of driving, I will save money and have a more satisfying time doing it.

Hello. I am writing…read moreto report a likely racially motivated incident at the East Norriton, Pennsylvania, store that occurred Saturday, March 28, at about 3:30 p.m. I filled out forms on Acme's website and called twice in filing complaints, but Acme leadership cannot find it in themselves to comment on this situation. So I've decided to share this publicly to embarrass the store. First, your customer service employees never man the desk. About a year ago, I started going to Acme for money orders bought with cash bonuses received at my job because a Giant supermarket near me lost their license to sell them. On this day, it took 10 minutes until someone showed up. Ten minutes! Today, sensing the same problems, I asked an employee stocking shelves to help bring someone to the desk. A young woman showed up and began expressing doubt right away that she could help me with $6,000 worth of money orders and insisting that I'd need two forms of identification. Absurd! Who brings his or her passport or Social Security card to a supermarket to get money orders? Giant never required two forms of ID, and I successfullly converted as much as $4,000 to $5,000 in cash to money orders on single visits. This woman called over a woman named Royce, and Royce immediately began interrogating me as if she were a police officer and I was some bank robber or drug dealer. "Where is this money from?" "Where do you work?" Let me tell you so it's perfectly clear: Your employees have no right to ask these questions of me or any other person seeking money orders. Wanting to get out of this abhorrent store as quickly as possible, I told her that this money is a cash bonus for my marketing job, which is 100 percent the truth. Royce never deserved this answer. Royce started to walk away, shaking her head and saying that $6,000 was too much. I asked her what the store daily limit is--if one even exists--on money order transactions in a day. She didn't answer. Royce left for 5 minutes and came back, saying she couldn't help me. I asked whether she could convert any of my $6,000 into money orders, and she said no. Royce is an African American woman, and I am a Caucasian man. Given that she offered no other explanation for denying my request, I am making the claim that her obscene, uncalled-for actions were discriminatory. If I don't take action, this alarming behavior will only continue.

I was told that they were able to do what I wanted a MONTH before i picked them up. Then, I called to make sure that my cakes would be ready the day before picking them up and I was told they were no longer able to decorate cakes. I received two cakes completely different from what I ordered, one being a size smaller yet the SAME PRICE. I am extremely frustrated as I made sure to order them with more than enough time to get what I wanted. Not only are the cakes so insanely far off from what I was TOLD I WAS GETTING, there's literally a chunk missing from the small cake (that was not supposed to be small) AND there were beautifully decorated cakes in the display case for purchase. But I thought they couldn't decorate cakes? On top of this, when I placed the order the lady that was in the bakery was so ridiculously rude and lazy. I'm far from disappointed and disgusted in this experience and would never recommend anyone ever ordering from this bakery if they want anything that even resembles a cake.

I really like the floral section and the specialty cheese area, they're both well stocked and add a nice touch to the overall shopping experience. There's also a Starbucks inside, which is super convenient if you want to grab a drink while you shop. Gionna & Nyla were awesome! Very nice engaging, accommodating and helpful, so much that I wanted to give a tip however they cannot accept tips something about being under Giant. Makes no sense to me. If they're giving good service they should be allowed toto receive tips. The store is clean, organized, and the staff is friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference. The only downside is that it gets pretty busy, there's always a bit of a hustle and bustle, and parking can be tricky since it's right next to the Movie Tavern. Overall, it's an easy place to shop and very convenient. Prices are a little higher, but you get the selection and experience to match. Definitely a solid go-to grocery store.

I don't know if it's sheer luck, but I never have a problem here. I can always find a good parking place and the lines are rarely long. Always well stocked with fresh produce , bakery goods and fresh meats. and the employees are always friendly and helpful. I love their salad bar too! If I don't feel like cooking, I can run in and make a fresh salad without a big hassle . I don't drink, but see a large selection of beer as well. I go to the gym across the street from this Giant, so I'm always in this neighborhood . They also have good incentives to keep you coming back, like the coupons they send in the mail that tracks what you purchase and gives you coupons comparable to what you buy. They also will give you 5% off after you spend a certain amount. I forget how much that is, but whenever it pops up and they say I get my 5%.....I'm happy! Their prices are about average compared to other stores with good sales going on often. Sometimes the convenience out weights the price for me.

I visited the Norristown store after a visit to Elmwood Park Zoo, because it was conveniently next to Harbor Freight, where I had an errand. The store itself is clearly a high volume location for sales. People were in and out, nonstop purchases going on at the registers. You could tell the shelves were well maintained, because stock was supplied, though rapidly depleting due to the volume of customers. I did not see boxes everywhere like I do in other DTs where the staff hasn't finished putting things out, and takes their time about it. In fact, I saw new season merch on the shelves in this store, which I did not see in other stores for another couple weeks. Kudos for that. I also saw a number of unusual products available here (better and/or different versions/styles of standard items), none of which were available at any of the 3 DT stores I have visited since. It is always a sign of a good store when they carry more variety. That said, my checkout experience was a nightmare, and was totally unacceptable. Just as I've never seen this store's superior merch elsewhere, I have also never experienced such exceptionally miserable treatment at checkout, where I am going to PAY for my purchases. The lines were taking forever, and meanwhile my toddler was starting to fuss, ready for a nap after his long day. The cashiers were milling around in front, watching this insanely long line form, and very slowly get processed. After I'd waited 5 minutes, I was finally next, but the person before me still had a cartful of items to go. Just then, an associate appeared at the other register. I asked her if she was opening a line? Yes. So I got moving my stroller around to the other lane. The woman behind me pushed past me, aggressing to get at the other register. Ew! I am the one who bothered to ask about the line, she hears it, and then runs over me like a jerk. I was surprised that the DT cashier did nothing to ask the other customer to be fair. I have often seen cashiers (decent ones) politely remind pushy individuals of their manners, "Excuse me, but this customer was next." But that will not be happening at the Norristown DT store. They really don't care. So not only did the rude senior bust in front of me, almost tripping on my stroller as she passed, but when I said, "I'm sorry, but I was next. I have a fussy toddler and I'm trying to get out of here," she had the narcissistic belligerence to retort (in the nastiest of voices), "I have fewer items than you!" Then anchored herself there like a thug. WHAT? Her 6 items beat my 7, so she gets to skip the line on me? #1 I was first, and #2 I'm trying to get a fussing toddler out of public earshot as a courtesy to others. But selfish seniors get to go first. Me! Me! Me! Wow. That's all I can say. Narcissistic Personality Disorder, and way too old to be acting that way. DT staff stood by watching, because who cares? As mentioned, the store was great in terms of stock, and they had a great variety, which would normally draw me back for tons more business. But after the apathy of the store staff, and the insanely rude behavior of other customers, I couldn't go back without a bad case of PTSD just to enter the door!
