Trader Joe's - ASU has officially opened today! As a native Californian, it always brings joy to see a Trader Joe's in the neighborhood. Of course with it being opening day, it was very clean and well-organized as picture-perfect as can be. What you'd find at any other Trader Joe's is here as well. The crew members are clearly excited for the store to be open and happy to be there. Everyone was very accommodating and friendly. Masks are enforced (there's a sign at the door to remind you that it's currently mandated in Tempe). Crew members are keeping the baskets and carts clean, as well as offering to provide you with a spritz of hand sanitizer for you to use before you enter. The aisles here feel much wider than most TJ's I've been in, which feels especially nice in this age of social distancing. The website states 8-9 AM is open to seniors (60+) and individuals with disabilities that may need assistance shopping. The area has Sprouts and Whole Foods not too far away, but this will be my first go-to grocery store for household staples, and the occasional fun off-the-beaten-path finds too (I recommend following some of the Trader Joe's Instagram accounts out there to stay easily updated with new/seasonal items). They've got a good variety of dairy and dairy-alternative products. Their prices are reasonable. If you've never been to Trader Joe's, check it out and welcome aboard! read more

Love that they opened in this location! The store is so spacious with a perfect layout for browsing each selection in the store. They have all the Trader Joe's favorites and I've never once waited in line. Between the very friendly/attentive staff and the multiple check out stations, my shopping trips are only as long as it takes me to browse all their amazing offerings! PS. Plentiful parking! This is a new location. Right next to Raising Cane's and Blick's. Smart move to open closer to the university. They were well stocked. Square footage isn't as big as other locations, but they had a great selection even still. As always, friendly & helpful crew members and a clean store. They had a greater at the door offering hand sanitizer and disinfecting the baskets and carts. Face Masks that cover your nose & mouth are required for entering. Plenty of registers... and not too many people in the store which was great. I look forward to shopping here again & again. read more

My wife and I are big fans of Trader Joe's. A few years ago I had to start eating healthy. We have been to the other east valley locations and enjoy them. This newer location is closer to our house. It's bright and clean, well stocked and the staff very helpful. As with the other TJ's, the stock in constantly being changed based on season so it's always fun to see see what's new. read more

Literally my favorite place! I try to go at least once a week, but am guilty with frequent visits. I just want the person who decided to put a TJ's at this location, is an absolute genius. It is smaller but clean and well laid out. I work at Sun Devil Stadium and it is a quick walk over to get a feel good and quick lunch. It does get busy at around 5pm on the weekdays, but this is all good things because it shows they are doing great business at this location. I usually would never have anything negative to say about a Trader Joe's ever, I am a huge fan overall. This specific location I have noticed is typically out of staple ingredients like garlic? Red onion? And other items like bread and soup. It must be popular or they must not have enough inventory. Nothing bad to say about the staff or cleanliness, both of those are perfect! Just wanted to warn others that they may have to stop at another store aside from this one to get their essentials. read more

Wow! If you are a die-hard ASU fan, you must shop here! I came opening day and didn't think I could Trader Joe's any more than what I already did. The decor in the store is all ASU related and the staff here are incredibly friendly. As soon as you walk in there are two people at the entrance greeting you and spraying hand sanitizer to every customer and they really are keeping the store as clean as possible. I am so happy a grocery store (specifically TJs) opened up closer to campus! read more

Always love coming to this store, and Alyssa was especially helpful today. Green Goddess salad dressing, Green Dragon hot sauce, Dark Choc-covered Almonds, $2.19 cage-free eggs, $3 wine, shakshuka starter, tiny avocados, Thai Cashews, shrimp burgers, Fish Korma or Briyani Indian dinners -- I could go on and on, but you get the idea. I love the Trader Joe vibe. Maybe it's just the store here in Tempe but the staff are all tattooed up and cool looking. They seem like they like their jobs and are upbeat, friendly but not fake friendly. They great you like they are happy you're there. I always enjoy going there. I didn't know I was entering a high end strip club when I walked into Trader Joe's. My friend and I stopped in to buy some bottles of wine. I was checked out just fine by an older man but my friend got some problems. The cashier accepted my friends id until the cashier behind turned around and said "check her id again" and when she asked why he said "you know he's a bouncer". He starts bending her REAL ID almost breaking it and holding it back as if he was going to keep it. We are from Florida and she still has a vertical id as she just turned 21 less than a year ago. He now claims he can't accept vertical ids. Absolutely ridiculous. These boys are on some power trip for feeling the need to harass young women on a Wednesday night. Get a job at the bar you fucking weirdo. We called manager after leaving so to not make a scene and he said we could work something out if she brought a second form of identification into the store. We decided to save our time and take our business elsewhere where we encountered zero issues. Very unprofessional and flat out rude behavior from our once favorite store. read more
