This is hands down my favorite Trader Joe's in the area! I've been to a few different locations and this one just hits different. First off, the parking lot is HUGE. I never have to stress about circling around or waiting for a spot, which honestly already puts it ahead of most TJ's I've been to lol. I can literally spend an hour walking through every aisle as there's something about Trade Joe's where I always end up finding a new snack or seasonal item I didn't even know I needed. I also LOVE their floral selection - they always have such a nice variety of bouquets and I pretty much grab one every time to bring home. It's such a small thing but it always makes my week. The employees here are are also very friendly and helpful, whether I'm asking where something is or just checking out. You can tell they actually like working here, which makes the whole experience that much better :) read more

This Trader Joe's location seems bigger and better stocked compared to the other ones. I remember this store use to be a popular supermarket. I'm glad it became a TJ. Inside is clean and it's crowded most of the times I've been there. Not that the other locations aren't busy too, but here you get to maneuver a lot easier and quicker. The isles are wider, and there are more cashiers to help you. I come here mainly for their well stock fruits. Sure, it's a little more expensive, but it's worth it imo. They have a large selection of frozen foods as well, and more varieties of ice cream. Everyone seems cool, and I enjoy coming here. The parking lot is big, as it's in a plaza. People come and go quickly. So you won't have an issue looking for a space. They also have many electrical chargers in the lot for electric cars. Very convenient. 3.5 stars I like TJs, but I've found myself shopping at TJs a little less every year. Between all the recalls and popular items selling out without any restocking, it is difficult to rely on TJs. The items I regularly buy are French or sourdough bread, coffee concentrate, and those white cheddar puffs. I do buy other stuff, but that is what I always purchase on my stop. Anyways, this store is ok and, like other Joe's locations, it can get super crowded. There is free parking on site. The employees are ok/friendly here. read more

Trader Joe's in South Pasadena is one of my favorite grocery stores. I love that they offer quality food at really fair prices it makes eating healthy so much easier. I'm always looking for good protein and healthier products, and this location never disappoints. From their frozen wild-caught fish, chicken, turkey, and tofu to their fun snacks, fresh produce, and unique seasonal items, there's always something new to try. The store is easy to shop, always clean, and the layout makes sense (which is not always the case in other grocery stores!). Parking can get a little busy at times, but it's worth it. What stands out the most is the customer service. The team here is always friendly, helpful, and genuinely seems to enjoy working with customers. They'll go out of their way to check if something is in stock or recommend a product they personally love. That personal touch makes a huge difference. This is the "newest" addition of Trader Joe's in the area, it use to be the location of a Von's. It's a very large store, in fact we were told it's the largest on the West Coast. I decided to check out the "big" Trader Joes, opened a few years ago and took over the space where a Vons used to be. It's a busy shopping plaza, lots of other businesses so the parking lot was busy but there are usually spots. The store is huge, wide open and it seems like they have double the amount of stock than a typical TJ. Friendly staff, giant wine section which is why I came to this location. The other items are the same cool stuff in any Trader Joes. Check was fast because of the number of cashiers. Ironically the size of the place makes it harder to run and get a couple of things and leave, the physical size of the store makes that less convenient. Still this giant TJ is pretty cool. read more

Needed to pick up some cheese (Fromage Pave) only available during the holidays is what I read. I had a screen shot of the cheese I was looking for. I couldn't find it but the cashier walked me over after checking online for inventory and delivery dates. She looked at the photo and found the last two. Love this location especially during this season! Lots of Halloween , and cute pumpkin things. My baby really likes their cookies so I usually come get her snacks and little trinkets. One thing that really stands out at this Trader Joe's compared to others is their size and parking . Such a game changer, ample parking even during usual Rush times . Highly recommend! read more

It is probably second only when compared to the Newport Beach store which is a high-rent area and probably caters to the upper crust. I like Trader Joe's as much as the next guy, but the soliciting outside is crazy. They literally have a sign outside of the entrance saying something along the lines of TJ's shoppers have the right to a distraction free shopping experience and they do not allow solicitors. Well, I went yesterday and there were solicitors outside the exit with a table sitting there. When exiting, the snarky lady asked if we wanted to tax billionaires. First of all, what kind of question is that. Maybe go to your city council meetings and not sit outside of a grocery store where people are trying to figure out how to pay for their next meal. Anyway, when I said no thanks, the lady sarcastically remarked "oh you're too cool for it". Not only was I annoyed that there were solicitors but rude ones? And Trader Joe's allows it, despite their contradictory sign outside the entrance. Besides this, I'm a fan of this location but I probably won't be coming back. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful and the store offers a wider selection of items compared to some other locations. This is a relatively newer Trader Joe's location; while there is another branch of the store closer to where I live, I've started to go this South Pasadena shop when I'm in the neighborhood. It's a sizable store, and the spaciousness makes it feel less hectic than my usual Trader Joe's experience. Parking also feels easier than what I'm used to shopping at my local Trader Joe's since the store shares a lot with several other businesses. The employees are consistently friendly when I'm checking out, and I've not had a bad shopping experience yet. Overall, the store's layout and the relative ease in parking combined with the positive customer experience makes this Trader Joe's a step above the ones I've visited in the past. read more

On a Sunday afternoon in late November, I stopped by to see if I can parking which I did. The parking looked busy and luckily found a spot. The ambiance was nice of Lots of browsers in the spacious store. I kept bumping to other carts. The only aisle that wasn't busy was the bread area. There was 2 samples tables and it was nice trying out food. We found poultry sample kit, Harry and David pears and collapsible tote bag. The lines to pay was short and my cashier was nice and friendly. FYI, they open 9am to 9pm read more

When I heard the rumors that TJ's was opening in the old Vons location, I thought it was too good to be true. Turns out, it was true! I'm surprised by how quickly the remodel was done. This is probably the biggest Trader Joe's that I've seen. It's Super Market size - spacious with plenty of room to maneuver your shopping carts and there's parking! Yaassss! Parking my friends. They carry the same products as the other stores with a wider selection of fresh flowers. It was busy when I stopped in. All checkout lanes were open with friendly faces ready to assist. The store on Mission is still there, but this place will be my shopping destination. read more

Brand new and closest Trader Joe's to home ever... yes please! Five stars!!!!! This Trader Joe's just opened late October, 2024, occupying the former Vons store at Fair Oaks and Monterey Road. This new location is so much bigger than any other Trader Joe's in the surrounding areas! So much aisle space available! Store traffic has been nonstop but it definitely doesn't feel too busy since it's so roomy and so much space to move around and browse for new food finds! Taking my time and looking for new food discoveries is what makes Trader Joe's such a neat place to shop! As for the parking, it's been busy so far since the store's opening. If it's really busy, there's always free street parking at adjacent streets. After my second visit on a Saturday, we decided to drive by the closest Trader Joe's on Mission Street, also in South Pasadena. This is probably the smallest store in the surrounding areas. Found it hilarious that this one didn't seem busy at all with only half of the parking stalls taken. If the new one is too hectic when you drive in, there's always another store less than a 2 minute drive! read more

On Monday they open a brand new Trader Joe's in South Pasadena on first day they were a long line around the cornet fir the Grand opening of Trader Joe's. This location use to be a Vons supermarket but last year they shutter down then we heard they building a Trader Joe's at the same location. Today my wife and I went to the new Trader Joe's we were surprised how many come and shop at the Trader Joe's they were no parking,then we decided park were my work at and we walk. We got a shopping cart and step wow it looks very nice from the old Vons market inside is pretty big and hold many items very impressive. You can everything here at Trader Joe's and they other Trader Joe's. We got thing we need then we went to cashier lane. This new store sure has a lot more wide aisle space than any of the other locations I've been to. We went in an hour before closing and it wasn't as busy as the official opening week. They always carry unique products so it's always fun to browse all the aisles to see what's new. There has been way too many recalls recently. The cashier charged me for 2 bags when she used just one. She was so annoying and asked me if I needed help getting the water. I find their customer service at the cash register at this location a hit or a miss. Today I had my son in the cart bc he won't elope in it. He's non-verbal autistic. I told the cashier I can hand him my grocery items since son was in the cart. He said, "Well, give all the cold items first." Not a problem and started handing him the cold items. I handed him a cold item and another food item. He said rudely only cold items. Fine, I gave all the cold items and then handed him my insulated bag. He said, "Now I need to other items not that ok!" I handed him the items. He was just rude and cranky. The store had only opened like 20 minutes before. If my kids weren't there I would have told him to stop acting like an assh@le. Like other yelpers mentioned, this is a brand new store. It took the space of the old Vons and now competes with the excellent Pavillons across the street. The parking is huge and the store is immaculate. The displays are not crowded and the striking part is that it feels very airy as the old Vons was very large. All staffs were so nice and friendly except for the Asian manager. She is very rude and sarcastic.

They allowed Tesla to put in their parking chargers, so there's really no parking in the whole lot anymore. And and if you decide to park because there's no parking for your gas car in the Tesla charger, you get these dirty looks from these Tesla owners. Our first time at this location and wow, it's huge! I've been to so many locations all across LA and this was by far the most spacious one I've ever been to. Parking was also surprisingly easy which is rare with Trader Joe's, and even though it was busy, it didn't feel crowded at all because the store was so spread out. It just makes for a better shopping experience when multiple shopping carts can get through an aisle. This location isn't the closest to me so I don't know how often I'll come (maybe when I'm in the area) but it's good to know that it exists! read more

Love TJ's...been shopping there regularly ever since I started living on my own and buying groceries! I think this was my first time at TJ's on opening day. I didn't see any specials, but they had extra sampling stations. This branch took over the Von's, so it's much larger than the TJ's in South Pasadena on Mission. And the parking lot is also larger. The aisles are surprisingly wide for a TJ's. The merchandise is the same as other TJ's though: cut flowers, plants, wine, beverages, fresh produce, baked goods, snacks, meat, seafood, prepared foods, frozen foods, spices, toiletry items, plants, etc. They have lots of organics and interesting foods you can't find elsewhere (TJ's own brand). In the past, they had boba ice cream, froyo, boba drink kits, bubble waffles, Japanese souffle cheesecakes, etc. On trend! We always get raw almonds, tempeh, peanut butter, arugula, sparkling water, frozen rice, olive oil, etc. The salmon is good quality. Their food is usually pretty good. They have lots of frozen meals and snacks. Mr. Froyo isn't a fan of their coffee beans and hummus though. I like their spicy peanut noodles, XLB, pancake bread, tomato & feta soup, pumpkin biscotti, and butternut squash mac & cheese. Look for free samples! read more

The rumors have finally been put to rest and the dust has settled with regards to this location. Has been open for a couple weeks now and had the chance to stop by over the weekend. This is the most spacious TJ's ever and it will not disappoint. There's room to browse, spread one's wings and fly (shop). It was a former Vons location so the store footprint is there but it's 100% Trader Joe's branding. Ample parking lot out front or on surrounding streets. Shares parking with many other businesses such as : Jamba Juice, Ono Hawaiian BBQ, Silverlake Ramen, UPS Store, the Urban Pet. The most notable difference for me is the numerous checkout stands. This really makes a difference IMHO. Even tho it was busy when we went, we only waited a minimal 15-seconds until we were assisted by some very friendly, amicable and enthusiastic staff members. The key word at this store (and most if not all locations) is teamwork... and it truly shows! Now there are 4 locations nearby and I will be adding this location to our rotation. read more

We are excited to check out the new Trader Joe's. This is a big store compared to the others. All of the products are the same. Since the store is bigger, the aisles are wider allowing more space when shopping. Maybe it's the novelty factor, the larger parking lot is still very packed. We were lucky to find a parking when someone pulled out. All of the products are fully stocked, even the kimbap! it's great we have more Trader Joe's in the area. I have been manifesting this Trader Joe's location for some time. I can't believe that it has finally happened because my trips to TJ's just became that much more convenient! This is by far one of the most spacious, well-stocked, and organized TJ's I've been to. They have an immense selection of items in every department like cheeses, deli meats, vegetables, and frozen items. Love that it is conveniently located off Fair Oaks and in a huge parking lot. Opened in October 2024, this second location in South Pasadena of the very popular grocery chain is the largest one I've ever visited, at over 13,800 square feet. As a comparison, the original Trader Joe's in nearby Pasadena (opened in 1967) is only 4,500 square feet. The building previously housed a Von's, with the inside being completely remodeled to resemble a Trader's Joes..except a lot bigger. There were two things I noticed that I hadn't seen before at a TJs: aisles wide enough to have 3 carts be across, and the same item being displayed/sold in two different locations in the store...you just can't do either if space is at a premium. They did have many checkout aisles, to maintain the ideal of only one person waiting in line at a given moment. The large size of the store also meant larger selection of national brand items that Trader Joe's does sell. Beer is one of those categories, and the main reason I stopped in before visiting friends. Lately, I've been enjoying White Tide (Trader Joe's sister brand Aldi's house brand take on a Belgian White Ale)...so was hoping to find Mission St. Belgian Style (Trader's Joe version which I haven't tried yet). There were a lot of brand name beer available (more than I've seen at any other Trader Joe's, this being one way the local purchaser is using the extra space)...but no Mission. So instead got a six pack of Josephsbrau Bavarian Hef ($5.99)...figuring it would be easy. Nope...it was too cloyingly sweet for my taste, as if it hadn't been fermented enough. I had the same problem with their most popular beer: Simpler Times Lager. Should have just gotten the 6 bottles of Blue Moon that was available. Was also going to pick up a cheesecake as well, but got distracted by the 6 pack of mochi ice cream available in three flavors (green tea, strawberry, and vanilla: each for $4.99). Ended up getting one of each, and tasted the strawberry...quite good. read more
