Shopped last night for items listed in their flyer received and was not able to find 3 of them. Spoke to one of their employees walking around, John, asking about them. John said they had a shipment coming in the following morning, took my name, telephone number, and list of the items I was interested in. So I probably won't go back to my all time favorite store for reasons I that are private, but I have the utmost respect for their staff. In my heart I know the truth, and we all stand before God. No damage done, and my feelings never waiver. Trader Joe's is still the best store as far as I'm concern. I won't judge a store on bases of 1 individual, and I cant judge a manager or managers for taking the side one that one individual. They take great care of their own. They love and respect each other, and support one another. They always hire personalities that will be positive, and happy, upbeat, knowledgeable, and play well together. Their a great family if given the opportunity. Each person treats, and greets the customers as if their coming into their own house, with a smile, acknowledgement, politeness, and it comes from the heart, it's genuine. It's not faked. You will always see each employee be equal to the next including management. Their helpful and if they don't have the answer, they well always make sure you recieved an answer before you leave. They are above and beyond impeccable in their customer service. I always say, "Customer Service", is something that comes from the heart, you can't teach it. That's what Trader Joe's is, Genuine, and a class act. Other stores can take lessons from their Quality of Care they take to make it a wonderful experience from start to finish. Great service at every Trader Joe's, but especially this one in Simi Valley. Every time I go there the cashier is having a very pleasant conversation with me. Love their cereal (maple pecan and Trek Mix), cold cuts, cheeses, wines, pastas and pasta saucs, the list goes on and on. Favorites in the Freezer Section: Frozen Shrimp, Fish Nuggets, Gnocchi with Alfredo Sauce, Frozen Fruits. Their produce is always top-notch! The Trader Joes in Woodland Hills near my work is also wonderful and I go there frequently for lunch. read more

Although smaller than other TJ's I've been to, this place is the best! Charmingly small and full of fresh foods, it is irresistible to stop by every chance I get. The staff is SUPER. I opened a can of one of their tins of whole bean coffee and then realized it was a little stale, and the guy said no problem and let me pick another! Great prices and great selection of different items than you would ever find in a normal grocery store. I can't say I have ever been to this place when it was not super crowded. If you don't mind fighting the crowd and being slightly cramped then I would highly recommend this place. If not just find a larger trader joes. The staff is always so helpful and friendly. All the items on the shelfs are clearly marked as far as food allergies go which is very nice when shopping for someone with a food allergy. And once again for being considered a "higher end" grocery store the prices really are good. Traders has good stuff. My favorite things here are too long to list, but here's a few: the freshest OJ ever, the marinated meat, and the Volcano Super Dark coffee. Lines can get long, and parking can be packed, I think I've actually circled for 5 min. or so before I could find a spot. read more

I was in the area and this was the Trader Joes closest to me before heading back into the San Fernando Valley. This is one of the few medium size trader joes. I have been to bigger. I have to say that the staff are very warm and welcoming. The parking lot is quite accomodating compared to some of the trader joes I have been to. This place is always clean and well stocked! The cashiers are always down to earth and friendly. I love that they are so attentive to my shy daughter in the cart. She doesn't like anyone within 2 feet of her, but she's totally fine with any of them pushing her through the checkout! One time I had some cheese that went bad, but threw out my receipt. They took it back without even asking for it! The best part is that it is so refreshing to be able to go grocery shopping without looking at the labels. I only wish that they would pick up an organic baby food line here. Earths best diapers would be nice too so I wouldn't have to order a case online every month... read more

Trader Joe's sells almond butter, jojoba oil, and special cheeses the cheapest out of any grocery store or natural health food store. Their produce prices may not be as comparable but they do carry a plethora of frozen foods that are definitely reasonably priced. I could easily spend five minutes contemplating which cheese I should buy, which cooking oil, which convenient to-go salads, or most importantly, which WINE. I've been in larger Trader Joe's before but I have yet to go into this store with a specific TJ product in mind and come out disappointed. The cashiers are always very friendly, thank me for bringing in my own bag, and make very pleasant, non-awkward small talk about the sometimes strange (or not strange) combination of my purchases. read more

Love almost all of the employees because they are just so friendly and helpful. There are a few that need to work someplace else. I usually change my meal plans when I know I can get something there, instead of a main grocery store. Store is always clean. Wish they had better quality produce. I think it is all grown in Mexico. I went to Mexico and made the mistake (TWICE EVEN) of drinking the water and got super sick. If I got sick drinking it, how are they growing food and not using that same water? I get my produce seasonally at the local Abundant Harvest Organics pick up on Saturday as a solution. Their bread selection is really good. I like the Alvarado Bakery the best, maybe they will get sprouted grain bread from them! Otherwise, they have what I need and comparing prices I always save money at TJ's. read more

If I'd given this review a while ago, it'd have been a 5 star one. Currently, however, I'm giving it two-stars, reluctantly, due to the poor management at the moment. The workers are great, the products are great, and the previous management WAS great, all 5-star worthy, but whoever is running the ship at the moment is quite rude, quite arrogant and frankly makes my experience there miserable to the point of I'll shop elsewhere other than TJ's. Have to say I love traders Joe's for many reasons but disappointed that they are selling the cinnamon broomsticks in the store. Immediately got a headache. The smell was so strong I could smell it 20 feet from the door. My eyes are still burning. Polluting the air we breath and not good. Please be kind to those who can not be around this stuff. Some newer employees are mean in this store. All used to be nice. And the cinnamon broomsticks are still up by the front door. They are way too strong. Thousand Oaks store doesn't have them inside so go there if they give you a headache or they make you have an asthma attack. read more

This is our favorite Market in town. Friendly knowledgeable staff and always great products. But, I would give it 5 Stars except there is no bike lock up. Cities and retailers should encourage bicycle transportation. And Traders would be a place I would bet has a bike lockup, but they don't. As a vegetarian, its hard to find places to get a variety of different foods that are interesting and tasty. But trader joes has never let me down in all these years. I have my favorites of course like the garlic peta chips with all kinds of humus, as well as the Pomegranate Green Tea. Runs like a very good corner store with people who care. This isn't the case with all Trader Joe's. Products are good,but not the best tasting. Some of Targets foods are actually better. Special products like 2 Buck Chuck and 1 Buck Fruit Ice are a Cult Hit. The Trader Joe's Grand Reserve Red Wines are some if the best value fine wines for $12 effing dollars with score 88/100. Costco's $12 Kirkland and $20 Chateau are also very good 92/100. Staff is happy to help and useful while restocking shelves. Line arrangement could be better,but additional cashiers open during high traffic. Rare return are no hassle and quick. -5 staR Store. PS TJs Badly needs a pirate ship inside. read more

Trader Joes is one of the best chains in California. I love the service of this location. It is always clean. They will special order things in for you. I enjoy the fact that they really work here. It is a non union store and it shows. Clean, well stocked and people care when you walk in. My only complaint is the parking lot. It is hard to get in and out with all the traffic. I always come for the orange chicken and the wine. Yup. The only thing better is Wegmans and that is never going to happen here. So TJ it is. read more

I happen to like this TJ's the best...not even sure why. What all stores boast is that the prices can't be beat. They have interesting, if not exotic items to buy, and the quality of food is much better than any chain grocery store. (I am somewhat cautious about their salad stuff, however.) I always feel much healthier for what I buy from them, whether it's the organic chicken, antibiotic and hormone free eggs, nonfat milk, fruits, vegies, salad dressings, canned items, chocolate chips, even facial tissues, etc etc etc. They offer a great selection of organic items, and their wine collection is very reasonably priced.....although one needs to be selective on what's good or not. "Two Buck Chuck" has become a household name. Over the years, I've switched my eating habits, and this store caters to it all. The employees are always willing to help find whatever I can't......and the cashiers are always quite cheerful (and even funny) at the checkout, as well. I've been a shopper at Trader Joes for over 22 years. When I lived near Culver City, it was a cool place to pickup trail mixes and juices, but when I moved to SImi Valley in 2001, it was my closest grocery store and has been my main store ever since. The thing I love about Trader Joes is it's honest pricing, everything costs about half of what it does at a regular grocery store. The only things I don't like are 3 things: 1: If I really like something, they discontinue it, so it seems to work when we really really like something, we say how awful it is and how we would never buy it again. (Althought their paper shopping bags have handles, I believe they are really market research devices that bug our home and I am convinced they are crosswired, so far our conspiracy theory is working as most items we say we hate, do not get discontinued) 2. The crew is obsessive-compulsive and rearranges the store every couple of weeks. in case you get used to where it is located. For the kids, they have a game where you can "Find Coconut Joe" where they hide a coconut with a face on it in some obscure place. I think its great they teach the youngsters valueable lessons life, so when they get older, they can play the game I get to play, called "Find the Garlic and Cheese Croutons" which is also hidden in obscure places throughout the store. 3. They sometimes get caught up in the "We have to be like Whole Foods" identity crisis. 10 years ago, every other thing in the store was made out of hemp. Hemp soap, Hemp cereal, Hemp tomatoes,.... the list goes on. Today it's organics, though they are not as outrageous as other stores and no where as pretentious. I always thought they should put the word "Ass" in front of the Whole Foods sign, it would be far more descriptive. Besides that, they are great for all types of food choices. I recently became a vegetarian and have other special diet issues and I can buy just about everything I need at TJs. The only thing I can't really get is fake bacon (which I still think should be called "Facon") and a decent fake sausage, but there are plenty of other vegetarian meals and snacks avaliable. The only other thing is to watch expiration dates carefully, they avoid perservatives and so I found breads and dairy productts do not have the usual shelf life you would expect. They have a no hassle return policy, but its still a hassle to lug the stuff back. I recommend checking the dairy aisle for the latest dates, milk can have dates 2 to 4 days difference from one shelf to another. Also check all around fruit and vegtable packages for mold. I am sure it's not intentional, but defects are usually against the backings, so check carefully. Wines are great, but I am not going to tout Charles Schwab/2 buck chuck like everyone else -- its swill, but Tres Pinos is a great bargain at $4.99. Also the beer selection is not that hot, BevMo and Pavillions are better as TJs selection is limited and nothing is chilled, but cheeses are awesome, coffees are awesome and the staff is awesome (Only the sample guy freaks me out a little). Anyway, a terrific store and a great addition to the neighborhood. read more
