Just wanted to send a quick note about Benny, the store manager at Erewhon in Calabasas. Our travel AYSO team came down from Northern California for the finals for our community volunteer sponsored soccer organization, and we stopped by to grab drinks for the kids. Benny helped make sure everything was ready right on time, which honestly made a big difference with a bunch of tired players and parents trying to keep things moving between games. What stood out was how easy and positive the whole interaction was. Benny clearly runs a tight ship and the people working there reflect that. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and on top of things. Benny even stepped in to improve the throughput for all smoothies. When someone treats their job like they own the place, that's special. That's shareholder / owner behavior, not staff behavior. It starts with values, with leading and being consistent in following those values. The outcome is culture, and that creates true scale of the vision and every team member adopting the culture. This is actually the first time I've experienced this level of service at a grocery store, so I figured it was worth mentioning. If Benny hired these folks, he's doing something right. I guess I'm on a mission to see all the stores. This was my least favourite. Parking was chaotic, and the staff, w the exception of Milo wasn't as attentive as I've become accustomed to. We went during lunch time so I'm aware that was part of the parking lot fullness, but the staff had this almost apathetic attitude. I saw a piece of pizza I hadn't seen and wanted to try. A couple employees were having a convo at the counter. I just waited to see how long they were going to stand there. Longer than you'd expect. I mentioned Milo earlier. Rockstar in the cafe, gave us samples, answered questions about things I didn't see. I was told to try the battered portobellos. I guess they didn't have them that day but I appreciated that Milo checked. That was the most pleasant experience and Milo's customer service was aligned with what I've come to expect. Checkout was lacklustre. This is the first store I've been at that had a conveyor belt. I went through twice. The first person seemed like he didn't want to be there. The second I asked about the new membership tiers and she wasn't sure then she was surprised at my level. I got clarification around the program from someone at my store, and she showed me where vip line is. It just wasn't a vibe I've been used to over any of the stores I've been to. One branch of the famously expensive LA based Erewhon. Not as busy or overwhelming as other locations I've been to, but still pretty packed at the hot food bar. Prices aren't actually as outrageous as people make them out to be (for the most part, at least) and you can get some fun affordable finds in the snack and drink sections. I picked up a bag of gluten free pretzels for around $3.50 that I really enjoyed, for example. The hot food is expensive, but not insane. Most plates are around $26-32 and you get a protein and two sides. I opted for the teriyaki chicken with gluten free Mac and cheese and the buffalo cauliflower. The sides were both exceptional but the chicken was just okay; it was a little dry and the skin on the dark meat was very chewy and borderline inedible. It was a decent amount of protein, however. I haven't tried the smoothies but the juices and wellness shots are all great. I'd especially recommend the ginger & orange wellness shot. It's a clean and well-organized store with plenty of seating if you want to eat there. Overall would return despite high prices on certain items and a few disappointments. read more

My parents like to go here when they visit my little brother at college, so they wanted to go while I was there visiting. Obviously, I've seen this all over social media, so I was excited to get to try it!! The first time we went I got the ham and egg croissant sandwich. The woman behind me was pretty upset that I got the last one cause she was there specifically for that. It was incredible. The ham had such good flavor and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Amazing!!!! I also tried the social media famous Hailey Bieber strawberry glaze skin smoothie. I had previously rolled my eyes at the idea of a $20 smoothie, but it was actually soooo delicious and filled with really quality ingredients. My husband really liked their drip coffee. We went back the next day, and I tried the avocado tartine and the new Kris Jenner you're doing amazing smoothie. Both were good. Bonus points for the name on the Kris Jenner smoothie. Sooo funny!! Overall, this place is really expensive and not something I'd get all the time, but it's a fun stop on vacation. Both Saturday and Sunday morning were pretty busy, but things moved quickly. I'd heard of the $20 Hailey Bieber smoothie and Kardashians and whoever else in Hollywood talk about Erewhon. Visiting LA, I had to see it for myself. I feel spoiled, nobody should get to shop here. The way the produce is stocked so methodically is stunning. The cut vegetables perfectly arranged in packages, not one kiwi or mushroom out of place. Makes you wonder how much extra time it takes to stock the shelves here. They have all of the health food things you could want. From whatever sea moss is to spirulina to micro greens to natural wines and keto-friendly chips. Interesting brands, packaging, and graphic design abound. The prepared foods looked awesome, there were lots of people in line to just get some dinner here. We took a slice of coconut cake home and it was the best coconut cake I've ever had. The Calabasas Erewhon is my favorite location -- it's consistently clean, organized, and full of top-tier options. Yes, everything is expensive, but you're paying for the quality -- and it shows. The smoothies are incredible (you really can't go wrong with any of them), and the hot bar always has a fantastic spread no matter the time of day. The sushi is another highlight -- made fresh throughout the day by real sushi chefs in the back, with creative and surprisingly unique combinations. Honestly, if my income comfortably covered a small pre-cut dragon fruit for $20, I might consider shopping here more often. Even their freshly made dog food was around $20 a day--might as well cook a homemade meal for your Furbaby! The ambience felt rich and lively with lots of lines hahaha Erewhon certainly offers a wide variety of products--fresh, organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, salt-free, egg-free, dairy-free--basically, whatever "free" you're after, they probably have it. The hot bar to me is like restaurant quality taste and they actually do have affordable things like a slice of pizza, matcha, coffee, and fruit. My favorite thing to get here is garlic miracle noodles and the ricotta pizza is delicious. While many people online get the Hailey Bieber smoothie- I think the Hailey Bieber soft serve is even more delicious. I have visited this location a few times now, and I am always so impressed with how welcoming everyone is. I am always greeted as soon as I come in, or someone will wander over to me as I browse through the aisles to check in and see if I need help. The smoothie was tasty but not worth $20 and overrated in my opinion. Spicy sushi sandwich was bomb.com as well as the quesadilla and mangoes. The sushi chefs freshly made the sushi sandwich for me and I just had to wait 5 minutes. All the workers were also really nice, helpful and even funny. Although it was on the pricier side, the sushi prices were fair and I'd definitely come back to try more snacks and food items. read more

Wow! What a great grocery store and smoothie bar & cafe! I had never heard of the place and was traveling with my teammate from work who spotted it as we were headed down the 101. We decided to stop in and check it out. Their produce display was incredible and most (if not all) items were organic. The place was packed full of amazing healthy food choices and the cafe boasted organic and clean eats for every single item I read the label on. I shopped for a couple of snacks for my room and bought a smoothie. All delicious! This will become a regular stop on my way from Burbank Airport out to Ventura. This is one of the bigger Erewhons, and you don't have to pay for parking which is a huge plus. I went at an off time so parking was easy and so was ordering food from the hot bar and cafe. They were all running around busily, but the staff on the floor made multiple efforts to speak with me and ask if I needed help or had questions. Because it's bigger than the others, they're well stocked and it's easier to move around. Obviously it's Erewhon, so expect what they're known for. High prices and items you can't find elsewhere. read more
