I recently purchased some Honey Hydration day/night cream for holiday gifts, and unfortunately, three of the four day creams had mold in them upon opening. I contacted the corporate office and no one got back to me. My thought was since I didn't have a receipt it would be a problem to return these items for an exchange. That was not the case, I walked in, and let the gentleman in the service booth know what happened, and he told me to go do some shopping and to let the cashier know I have a refund coming when I check out. I did some light shopping because I was unable to exchange these due to them only being available for the fall. I purchase some Pad See Ew in the frozen section, as well as Enchiladas, and Birria. The Novato store has excellent customer service, and is always clean! The parking is so much better now that they're the only store there; besides the coffee shop at the other end of the lot. This is a wonderful Trader Joe's. It doesn't seem to be as frantically busy as the San Rafael or Greenbrae Trader Joe's are. They always have a good selection in stock, unlike the San Rafael Trader Joe's these guys rarely run out of whatever they're stocked up on up and they're close to Whole Foods and Costco. Very convenient the staff has always been pleasant very friendly and eager to help. read more

I love that prices are always consistent, and so is the happy staff! I once had a problem with a product, but the staff didn't bat an eye to help. My only problem is I have to be pulled away from the beautiful plants while entering the building, otherwise I'd go bankrupt and run out of room and time. read more

Cold pressed juices were lukewarm when on the shelf and a few days later apple cinnamon buns were half frozen when bought in the morning. I don't care about the pastry so much even though that obviously means they are not as fresh as you might believe but if anyone knows about cold pressed juices it's supposed to be kept cold to retain the nutritional value including during transport. Nobody would tolerate that with milk but I don't know about this. I'm afraid they're just going to blow this off along with people who don't know about how it works since TJ has not responded to the 2 star reviews even though this listing is claimed. Called Trader Joe's in novato before I went! I asked if they had these Ube pretzels, and didnt mind holding! After a short hold, the clerk went and checked. it was nowhere to be found on the seasonal shelving or the pretzel shelving! not that I was upset or anything but just to be sure, I went and checked in person! I live in Fairfax but nine times out of ten, I will drive to Novato to do my grocery shopping. This is my favorite location of the four TJ's in my area (I'm counting the one in Petaluma as well). At this location parking is easy. I usually choose the dirt overflow lot because there is always plenty of space and I can make sure there is adequate space between my car and the other cars. The inside of the store is organized nicely, clean, the staff are always working super hard to stock the shelves as fast as possible, and the employees are crazy nice. The employees will go above and beyond to make sure you are satisfied as a customer. I usually find everything I need in stock and there are always new items that I didn't know I needed until I walked into the store. I rarely have to wait in the checkout line abs again, the checkout clerks are always happy and very friendly. I love Trader Joe's in general but when the store is run well it really adds to the experience. read more

I wanted to acknowledge this Trader Joe's for its wonderful staff member John. My sister's granddaughter lost her charm bracelet in the parking lot. My sister recently died so the bracelet that was given to her by my sister was very very special to her. She was crushed when she found it missing. I called on the off chance it had been turned in. Trader Joe's does an amazing job during this Corona Virus. They have changed their hours so that the most vulnerable can shop the first hour. They only allow so many people in store at one time. They have plastic Shields up at registers, Sanitized carts and baskets, employees with masks, store kept clean and stocked marked spaces to keep people apart and they In force the rules. Best TJ's ever. It's clean, the bathrooms (I like you Los Feliz & SF, but take note), the store's vibe is high. The employees are varied but friendly and personable in their own way. Tjs is one of those places that always makes me wonder what in the world made me decide to stop here as its always busy it seems! That beind said, it is always fully staffed and there are clerks always within earshot if ever I need a hand. Every one I've encountered or helped me have all been professional and kind, even going as far as to carry cases up to the register for me. The TJs chain is known for its inexpensive to cheap wine sections and this one is no different, there is an ever changing selection of a lot of great wines for under $9 bucks and even their house Charles Shaw can be had for just a couple bucks a bottle. A side notes* ask the wine section clerks which ones in the two buck chucks are best as it really varies from season to season and varietal to varietal. Some have been really good and others nothing more than cooking wine. There is an ever changing selection of cool seasonal specialty items, produce, and kitchen condiments thats always interesting to shop through. It seems like I always find some special olives or pickled something thats great. Even though it can be packed, moving through the check out is relatively smooth with multiple checkers are always open and again a lot of clerks available for helping you move cases and boxes and get it all out to your car. Which brings me to my one issue, it can be a bit overwhelming with the amount of people in this shopping complex, I parked away from it all and walked in. I went shopping at our Novato Trader Joe's on day 11 of our Shelter In Place order. I have always had great service at this location. During this strange and stressful time the staff here was so organized, calm, cool, clean and kind. The 6 feet apart line went quickly and they brought your clean cart or basket up to you just before entering. All the shoppers had plenty of room to move about and still feel safe. This day the check out was staffed by two of the most helpful and patience people ever. (I was shopping for 3 house holds) Actually come to think of it ... every single check out staffer I have had on other visits where also helpful, funny and invested in their service and I love the age range of the staff here as well. I was shopping in Trader Joe's Novato yesterday afternoon when I started to feel light headed. I want to thank their crew, Joe, John and Erin, for being so kind and caring. Joe immediately provided me with a chair and a bottle of water. He genuinely seemed to care about my condition. He kept checking on my well being and welcomed me to continue sitting until I felt 100% - even if it took all night. When I was feeling a little bit better, Erin finished selecting the items that I needed to purchase. She could not have been more caring or attentive. I felt much better, thank goodness. If there's a store brand that stands out in a grocery market, TJ's is it! It has various organic and vegan items though out the market and better value than the competition. I like their hand written colored price labeling which adds a nice touch to the shopping experience. There is a sampling counter that has something different each time I stop by and its pretty good. The frozen dinners, meat, cheese and creamer is what I come for. This store can be packed with shoppers at any or all times during open hours. Oddly enough, it's also packed with stock clerks all over the place regardless of how busy it is. I don't think items are flying off the shelfs at record pace where they constantly need restocking thru out the day but I haven't been monitoring it to be sure. Can't they do this when its less busy (when is it ever less busy here) or when the store closes like at Safeway so they don't get in the way of shoppers. I always try to get out of their way assuming they have the right of way lol. Also the parking lot is kind of an issue where it looks like it was intended for compact cars only (good luck trying to park a full size SUV here) and it's always full unless you don't mind parking in dirt way off to the side. Anyways, good value and selection of items overrules any inconveniences like always. That's why we shop here! read more

One of the first stores I felt comfortable shopping at once the pandemic began. They seemed very responsible in limiting numbers in the store. Went last night and saw a lot more people in the store than I remember seeing before. Gone are the one way isles. Everyone bunched up at the front. Great prices on alcohol. They're definitely call for the fact that they have the choose your own beer six pack... I will be definitely going there again in the future when I have a little more money... This is a great place to shop for groceries as well. Their employees are all very nice and helpful. Trader Joe's continues to impress me. They've always had great products with very reasonable prices. During the pandemic, they have rules in place to allow people (including my 82 year old mother) to feel comfortable shopping. Sure, you may have to wait a few minutes to get in the door, but for good reason. Once you enter the door, it's becomes a very low stress shopping situation. Even now, when Costco has ceased to limit the number of people in the store (I believe that's correct), TJs is still limiting the number of people. I haven't met any people who have had a negative reaction to that. People actually seem friendlier. Nice. read more

In a world where the variety of choices can be overwhelming I love Trader Joe's for its simplicity. They have many of the basics at great prices ( Dozen eggs for $2 vs $5), interesting items to keep me coming back ( have you tried the red soft licorice?) and a few choices for many items but not too many. The staff in Novato have always been helpful whether to return and item, grab missing items for school lunches at 8:50PM (they close at 9PM) or pop open a new product and try it right there (egg nog yogurt I'm lookin at you). The shelves are always orderly and as a mother I am in awe. I have experienced the sense of defeat having just straightened the room and having someone come behind you and undo it. How do you do it crew? If you've got a little be sure to look for JoJo the pony hidden in the store. Then head to the sample station and your kiddo using their best manners can inform the crew member where JoJo is perched and receive a sucker or a fruit treat. read more

I love Trader Joe's! I love to get their own brand named items. The corn relish is one of my favorite things in the store. I also enjoy their Jojo's especially their candycane Jojo's a Christmastime. Everyone who works there is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and they're very, very helpful at this location. The only thing that drives me nuts is the carts for kids. It's downright dangerous to have these kids running around with shopping carts, especially when their parents turn a blind eye to them! A kid came screaming around the corner and almost hit me. Yikes! Anyway, try their house made salads in the refrigerated section. They're awesome! read more

I have been shopping at Novato Trader Joe's many years. Lately they have stopped carrying many items like have been purchasing for years. Examples,roasted vegetable lasagna, small frozen salmon dinners, frozen mashed potatoes, morning star farms bacon, and others. Trader Joe and I go all the way back to my junior year of high school - I was a cheese girl (best job ever) at the first one to open in northern CA (San Rafael)...now I'm the parent of a 16 year-old, and I still shop at TJs! I started going to the Novato location when it first opened (I signed the online petition to help get it here). They know me as the homeschooling mom whose cart is overflowing at the checkout stand because she only shops there once a month (Costco is my other monthly shop) - I often do my own bagging (counts as exercise), but they are always friendly and offer me help out. I start in the wine section - we love to try new ones, and they have a decent selection in the $5-9 range). Then I get the free sample at the end of the aisle - coffee and whatever food is being served. From there, I just tend to park my cart in an out-of-the-way place, returning with my arms full, and going back out again (more exercise). Whenever I spot JoJo, I get a little wistful now that my kids are older. We have so many favorite items, I can't list them all, but we talk about that sort of thing - especially their latest products - on Marin Foodies (a facebook group I created). I always check out the "New" shelf and I like that it's grouped in one place. read more

My god the Montecito center parking lot is a nightmare any hour of the day or night.. This new Trader Joe's has a large parking lot. The floor layout is spacious & easy to navigate. I've been to this TJ's since its opening and am very disappointed by new management and team. They are often rude or simply don't acknowledge the client. If it wasn't for the proximity and the product prices ( although they have risen tremendously) i would boycott my neighborhood store. I'm also amazed at the amount of packaging the brand generates. I work close to this Trader Joe's and come here pretty often, maybe 3 times per week. Parking is always a breeze, shelves are well stocked, and the staff is not only helpful, but friendly! I can usually get pretty much everything that I need and get in and out in less than 20 minutes. My favorite department is wine. They have an amazing selection at very affordable prices. I think Trader Joe is one of my most favorite chains of the grocery stores. They have only the best selling items. Amazing desserts. Fresh fruits and veggies. I really like that they have a tasting booth, where you can taste some goodies and also the frozen foods are just absolutely superb. I love the thin crust pizzas, asian foods and frozen meals. Its a bit expensive, but you gotta pat for the quality that what I always say! :) just gotta figure out how to make more money first lol! read more

Great little store with all kinds of good stuff. I buy many different things from this store but there are two things I buy that I can't find anywhere else. The first thing is Golden Raisins which my mom uses in her oatmeal cookies. Which see won first prize at the Marin County Fair. The second is my honey mango shaving cream. It's the best shave cream I have ever used and it's vegetarian. Who wants meat in their shave cream. The parking lot can get crowded and certain times it gets busy inside. It's worth any wait. When the inflation really started to hit my pocketbook wasn't gas so much as my grocery bills doubling. Whole Foods had been my default, and suddenly even their veggies were really adding up! And wine, cheese, and premade food departments were entirely off limits. I started to shop at Trader Joes and literally cut my bills in half. Not only that, the staff at TJ's are just so lovely; helpful, friendly, and available. The store is super clean, well-organized and has lots of cool stuff at very reasonable prices. Other then not having a hot food bar, it got everything else I like and prefer their own brand over other stores own brand. Their soy creamer for coffee is what I generally get if nothing else but it's hard not to when so much is good here. Price items are reasonable. If they have a hot food and salad bar, I wouldn't really need to go to WF afterwards. read more
