FYI. They do not accept alcohol returns and there doesn't seem to be any signage that indicates this. I purchased two bottles of liquor and hadn't even left the store yet when I found that they were wayyy marked up. About $9 more per bottle than your average liquor store. I tried to return the items less than 3 minutes after u purchased them and I was told they do not accept returns on alcohol. Disappointed at the customer service and lack of transparency regarding this policy. read more

I visited this Trader Joe's location on a Thursday evening, and I felt very lucky to come here on a quiet night. I'm very used a bustling and crowded environment in the store closer to me, so this was a nice change. The store was clean and well organized, and all food on the shelves was fresh, and as usual, the registers were well staffed. This is a huge plus compared to some other grocers in the area. I'll most likely come here again soon. read more

This is our favorite TJ's location in the area. Nice flow and helpful staff. Shout out to Brendan who was working in the beverage section. So nice, so knowledgeable, so helpful , and honest with recommendations. Brendan went above and beyond and we could really tell he loved working there and really loves what he does. Well organized store with great products. Large, spacious and clean with pleasant and helpful people working there. However, if you need to park; don't go there. The parking is in an underground garage with no tickets available upon entry. Upon leaving the garage, the attendant will most certainly lie about your arrival time in order to get you to pay for the parking although it had been roughly 45 minutes to one hour since arrival. The man called me 'bro' and lied to my face stating that I had been in the garage 'since 7 something ' Trader Joe's doesn't open until 9am and the attendant was asleep when I pushed the button to enter the gate when the automated machine stated that it was unable to issue a ticket. The lack of common sense and critical thinking was apparent as he wouldn't check the ticket distribution although I told him that it was empty. Too ignorant to know that the green button lifts the gate regardless of the contents of the machine. Will not return here regardless of the pleasant shopping experience. read more

Let me say again I am customer #19 for this location and am typically in here 4 times a week. It is my buy a lunch for today, primary grocery, and shopping therapy. I'm a cook and love to try their new thing. Liquor store is at this location to and has a decent selection The staff is typical for TJ and is smart, helpful, and happy. Heck when I retire I might want to work here. There are sometime when this place is really crowded but they keep the lines moving. I've been to stores that I knew more of the staff, and again I know lots of the staff here. The store is clean, orderly, and constantly being restocked by the truck that arrive daily. My go-to grocery store in the area. I like the BlueBikes station located right outside of the store. The bus stop also makes it convenient but often runs behind schedule due to traffic. Generally speaking, Trader Joe's is good for grocery shopping if you are only preparing meals for one or two people. If you are prepping for a large meal, price-wise you are better off at Stop & Shop or other chains. Plus, if you look at their produce sections, the portion size is generally good for smaller meals. Their liquor selection is pretty solid. You can buy cheap (yet tasty) wine/spirit and also expensive ones. Sometimes they will have a table for wine & cheese tasting. Not five stars because I never understand why they don't run sales on produce or fruit. If you want to buy fresh berries, the sale prices at other grocery chains are way better. Also, this location carries most of your household needs, but lack some essentials like aluminum foil and stuff. Not sure why. The cashiers here have been generally pleasant. Occasionally you will run into grumpy ones. You do have to pay extra for the paper bags, so bring your own shopping bag. read more

This is my favorite TJ's location in the city. Not only is it clean and on the newer side, it's also really big and spacious and HAS FREE PARKING UNDERGROUND!!! There's nothing worse than a cramped, crowded TJ's with no parking. The staff is always super friendly at this location too. I never feel unwelcome shopping here. Some of the other locations are less friendly and ... less welcoming. I also love the produce section, which is my main reason for shopping. They seem to have better produce than other locations. I absolutely love this TJ's location! Located right at the Continuum apartments you can easily get there by taking the 86 or 66 and walking . few minutes. If you're lucky enough to have a car, they also have a very spacious underground parking garage which has free validated parking. The aisles are very spacious and every time I've gone it hasn't been too crowded which is such a blessing. Everything is clearly laid out and you can easily find what you're looking for. As someone who has recently gone towards more vegetarian products, I love the small section of frozen vegetarian products they have. The cheese section is also out of this world. I love trying the new products they sell so I also like how next to the snacks aisle they have an end cap of just the new items they are selling. Great for when I'm trying to find a product I saw online. Overall, I've had no issues finding the products I want here and they always have the newest items available! read more

I love this TJs location. It's not quite as big as the Brookline location, but is much less crowded and cramped. Free parking in the garage is also a huge bonus- just ask your cashier to validate your ticket. As with any TJs, the produce isn't amazing, but literally everything is cheaper than at other area grocery stores. I love that I can get a loaf of sourdough for half the price here in comparison to my usual store. There are also lots of great snack options that my kids love, like freeze dried mango and Bamba. And of course the frozen food section is ideal for quick and easy meals for busy evenings. If they start selling soy milk, maybe I'll make this my regular grocery store. read more

I'm not from Boston, but on a quick visit to see a friend (who just so happens to live in the upstairs apartments--lucky dude).. I just had to do a quick shopping trip at one of my favorite chains--so cool to be able to walk downstairs to grocery shop! Location is clean, I found everything that I was looking for.. staff was friendly. My LO was hungry and I was looking for something quick to feed her, so when they were giving out samples of the pepperoni mac and cheese, we were quick to give it a try. DELICIOUS. That was her dinner for the night. Also, there was a wine tasting (my location never does that..) and even though I didn't end up getting of those brands, I did leave with about 3 very affordable bottles of red. I love that the part that sells alcohol is off in its own section.. it's not that way in mine, it's just another aisle. It was a super blustery, rainy, windy night and I was concerned about trekking the paper bags through that.. even though not that far to get back into his apartment, it was serious outside. I have been living in Brighton for decades, and shopping at this Trader Joe's regularly. I am in my 50s and have numerous medical issues, and the other day I went in and was leaving the restroom, putting something back into my bag, when this rude young employee named Kush came up to me and publicly and loudly accused me of shoplifting. Needless to say, I was doing no such thing, which soon became apparent to everyone, but this rude little twerp apparently wasn't raised properly and doesn't possess the humility to realize and admit when he has made a mistake. I received a very reluctant and listless "apology" and this kid actually made me extend my hand to him? Now, I am not a young man, but where I come from, if you make a mistake, you own it. And if you are in the wrong and owe someone an apology, you make it full-throated and sincere and you extend your hand to them and not the other way around. This may seem like a minor point, but I found it extremely disrespectful and it does not reflect well on the store. read more

Trader Joe's in Alston! I guess those Harvard students need to be fed somehow. I came here on a Saturday afternoon. I've never seen a trader Joe's so empty on the weekend in my life. I guess since this location is pretty new it hasn't been overrun by students yet. Anyways, this is your standard store. Shelves were stocked. Employees were friendly. Large windows let the nice sunshine come through. Plenty of employees working the check out stands. This location also has parking in the back. And a large selection of alcohol. read more

This is a fantastic TJ's, and the location is perfect. They have tons of delicious options for a keto dieter. I LOVE their Buffalo Chicken dip! I am from out of town, and was super impressed by this location. So large, and well stocked. The experience was topped off at checkout, by a lovely guy named David. (He is a white haired older gentleman). We got to chatting, and I was truly touched by his genuine, warm, friendly manner. Bravo to the management for hiring such friendly folks! This had become our favorite TJ's even tho it's farther from our house. The staff is super friendly, great assortment and easy to get in and out fast. BUT today was the second time I saw someone with a dog inside. The first time I thought it was perhaps a service dog, but it wore no markings. Today I saw a different dog owner let her dog jump up to the shelf to put its mouth all over the packages! Then the dog lunged at me and started barking. Not cool TJ's. Hands down the BEST Trader Joe's in the area. Very spacious location and not overly crowded or hectic like the other Trader Joe's locations in the Boston/Cambridge area (was hesitant to even write a review of this place out of fear it would get more crowded, but the large amount of space can handle crowds anyways). The isles are very wide, which leaves plenty of room for everyone to fit. Other perks include: - Free parking - Beer/wine (which is missing from the Trader Joe's in Cambridge) - Great staff (which is true of all Trader Joe's locations) - Items restock quickly (which is not the case in Coolidge Corner on weekends) - Not hectic While other locations are more convenient for me, I go out of my way to come to this Trader Joe's because I love it so much. read more

I love how Trader Joe's offers small cups of coffee AND puts out their soy creamer to add to the coffee. It is always a treat for me when I shop in this store. I also love how they have some drinkable kosher wine for $5.99. I wish the chocolate was ethically sourced. I go by the Food Empowerment Project's list of ethical chocolate and only buy what is "Recommended" by them. Trader Joe's has chosen not to disclose to the FEP where they source their chocolate. The produce is OK - not the highlight of the store, but certainly not bad. All of the plastic that they use for their precut vegetables is an environmental concern for me. I love the garage parking and validation by Trader Joes - no need to worry about shlepping groceries to the car in rain or snow. I wish more of their products (including cookies and crackers) were vegan. read more

Trader Joe's just opened up in Allston, right at the intersection of North Harvard Street and Western Avenue. While it is very close to another Trader Joe's location in Brookline, it does serve a purpose since this area is so densely populated with college students and just people in general.... it is Boston! Anyway, for being a city store, it's honestly fabulous. Not small or cramped in any manner. It's an extremely spacious store that is larger than any other Trader Joe's location I've been to! Even in the suburban areas! Tons of selection and a larger assortment of products in general. Either way, you always find the same exact things at any Trader Joe's, the question is how well things are stocked and how much variety is able to be ordered by the individual store depending on space, staff, and all of the other things that has to get thought out by the managers and the corporate office. Here, you have EVERYTHING though. Trader Joe's even decided to add a full beer and wine section to this store and get rid of the section in their Cambridge store, since they can only have eight stores in the state with a section as such. Staff are friendly, helpful and the only somewhat inconvenience about this Trader Joe's is the somewhat annoying parking situation that is under beneath the store in a garage. Overall though, I really liked it..... much better than the Trader Joe's that I go to every week! 5 stars! read more

Great new space. I live very close to all 3 Trader Joe's (Brookline, Lower Allston, and Cambridge) and find it strange that they are so close in distance but this one is a little quieter. Even in this blizzard madness, I did not feel rushed or stressed out. Apparently parking garage is free for the first hour. I risk the Harvard parking nearby or look for the free 2 hour parking nearby. read more

Very excited to see another TJ opening up in the Boston area. This location is quite large for TJoes and does feature a free (1 hour max) parking garage. They sell lots of wine and some beer, which not all TJoes do. Lots of produce and even a small cafe in the corner selling typical coffee drinks and such. Overall a very nice addition to the neighborhood - we even got a free bouquet of flowers during our visit because they had ordered too many. Love to visit to get cheaper alternatives to many essential items that are pricier at other nearby groceries - but beware that TJoes does not usually have speciality items and typically change their offerings a lot so it is a bit tricky for a one stop shop. I will continue to visit for affordable wine, healthier frozen alternatives and more reasonably priced dry goods (pasta, beans, grains, spices). read more

Its basically the same as all the other trader Joe's. There is a bigger alcohol section than that of Cambridge. It looks very nice inside but I really don't like the sideways Aisle layout at all. You get a Free hour for parking but after that you'll have to pay. The Clerks were nice when I approached them. I went around 1pm and it was pretty empty on a Wednesday. Probably people have not caught on that it's open yet. It's a nice place, I will definitely be back as It's the closest to home. The layout is very different from the other three Trader Joe's I go to, so I couldn't find everything I was looking for; it will take time. Another thing that was kind of strange besides the aisles was the checkouts. All the checkouts are against the main front windows. So once you checked out everyone was looking around going "how do I get out"? Once you check out its behind you to the side. read more

Nice, big, airy store. I like the fact that it is not cramped like the Memorial Drive location. This location should do very well for TJ's, and a nice touch is the full scale alcoholic beverages department, oddly set off from the main store in a separate room. I shopped at this location today and unfortunately didn't have a great experience. The man who was ringing me up at the register was not very friendly and snarked at me for not bringing my own bags to the store. When I told him that I did not realize I could bring my own bags (due to covid restrictions) he responded in a rude tone, "uh ya it's been that way for two months now." The man had put all my grocery bags into my cart and said I was all set and once I got home and unpacked all my items, I checked my receipt and noticed I was missing a bunch of the items I had purchased (almost half). I called and had to wait about 10 minutes to talk to someone and once I did he figured out that the man that rang me up didn't put one of my bags on the cart that was full of items I had purchased and told me to come back and tell the help desk my name and that they would be able to assist me. The bags were damp when I was given them because most of the items were frozen and now I am wondering if the food was sitting out somewhere where it had melted in the store when they realized a mistake was made. When I got there and told the help desk my name he was confused and I had to re-explain what happened. This whole fiasco caused me to be late to one of my work zoom calls, pay for more ubers than intended, and to top it off I passed the man who forgot to pack my grocery bag and he gave me a dirty look as I was leaving! Maybe it wasn't intentional but it was upsetting because I LOVE Trader Joe's and am a regular customer, but I won't be going back to this location. :( read more

After finding out that my favorite store on Memorial Drive would no longer sell alcohol, I decided to give this one a shot. While it is closer to my home, parking is not as convenient. The produce section isn't as extensive as I'm used to in Trader Joe's. The most off-putting part of my trip there was the staff. I love Trader Joe's because the staff is helpful and always very friendly and outgoing. No one at this location looks like they want to be there. Literally the only positive of this store is the liquor section, but even then it may not be worth the trip. read more
